Chapter 463
Chapter 463: Charm Talisman.
“Ding Dong!”
“The number of posts so far about Teacher Chu being a kind person exceeded 100 million and at the same time the number of people that expressed their indignation and admiration for Chu Liuxiang on various occasions exceeded ten billion.”
“This an unprecedented glory for the host and the system is very pleased by this as this stemmed from the system tirelessly teaching. If the system didn’t incite the host to donate, would there be such a big comeback? Would you be able to beat the plot brewed by Calf TV and Shining Technology?”
“In order to encourage the host to keep the spirit of helping others, the system rewards the host with one song recall, ‘Calligraphy (Intermediate)’ and one Charm Talisman (Light).”
“Note: Charm Talisman could be used on calligraphy or painting to make the work more charming. The amount of charm increased depends on the skill of calligraphy or painting and the power of the talisman.”
Damn!
Chen Huan slapped his hand.
He just came back from school but received such great news!
However, although the reward was good, why did he feel that the Good Lord was leading him into a counterfeit path?
Calligraphy, Charm Talisman…
Perhaps he wanted him one day to imitate the great works of Wang Xizhi?
=^_^=
If that was the case, those calligraphy lovers were all about to go crazy.
It was a good thing for Chen Huan to wash away all the grievances he received.
He was also very happy to receive the rewards from the Good Lord.
He was even more happy when he learned who plotted against him.
Good Lord always leaked the secrets unknowingly.
It just mentioned that this matter was started by Calf TV and Shining Technology, this couldn’t be false.
Chen Huan and the people close to him had long guessed who was manipulating it in the shadows.
But none of them thought that Shining Technology also had a hand in it.
But now with some reflection, Calf TV wasn’t big enough to make the whole internet go crazy.
It turned out that bastard Gan Liangchen was involved!

What’s going on? Trying to frame this lord one time after another, are you addicted to it?
Good Lord!
Give your orders and I’ll immediately go destroy him!
With so many charms in his hand, I’m only worried about not having enough subjects!
Good Lord… Good Lord?
Alright.
Chen Huan was calling it for half a day but the Good Lord showed no sign of being there so he could only give up trying to cheat a mission out.
Since There would be no mission, Chen Huan pondered about the new rewards he received.
Although ‘Calligraphy (Intermediate)’ felt like his many other skills where it couldn’t be used frequently, it was different for the Charm Talisman.
According to some legends, Mr. Zhang Daqian was the world’s best forger in fake as he painted several famous painters’ paintings and no one could make the difference so they all bought it like they were the real one.
Zhang Daqian lived off his forging skills back then but Chen Huan wasn’t lacking money and was only curious what kind of miraculous effect the calligraphy skill and the Charm Talisman would have.
Chen Huan wasn’t knowledgeable about calligraphy or painting before still knew some common things.
Take calligraphy as example, people didn’t have the tools before so they mainly relied on their personal judgment for the calligraphy as long as the calligraphy could be vividly recreated, it could easily deceive others.
But it wasn’t the case anymore.
The first thing that would be tested whether it was in calligraphy or painting would be the paper.
If there was something wrong with the paper, needless to say, everything was fake.
So there was much less fake in the transaction of ancient art in this era than in the past.
But there were people who didn’t understand how it worked so if they got fooled by a painting such as ‘Along the River During the Qingming Festival’, then even your dad would be speechless.
Those who understood how it worked could filter through 95% of the fakes by going to check the age of the papers.
It was also for this reason that the modern counterfeit also became more and more realistic.

Now that Chen Huan wanted to do an experiment, he needed to find a modern calligrapher.
It just happened that Chen Huan knew one.
He was Old Hai who passed away 20 years ago. He once served as the president of Zhejiang University and the President of Xiling Seal Art Society. He had countless apprentices and grandchildren in Zhejiang and could be described as a generational talent.
Old Hai lived until 92 and continued to draw even at 90.
Old Hai’s calligraphy was from the line of Ouyang Xun, one of the four masters of regular script style. His pen writing was round and upright, filled with vigor and power. He was in the top five among the modern calligraphers.
A great calligrapher like him left a lot of work behind.
His works had been highly sought after by the wealthy of Zhejiang in recent years and it was sold around 50k per square foot.
The price went down outside of Zhejiang.
Just by looking on the internet, there were hundreds of characters written by Old Hai.
The modern calligraphers’ choice of Xuan paper and ink were exquisite but it wasn’t that exaggerated.
Chen Huan saw the day was still early so he went to a stationary shop to buy 100 sheets of their best 8 feet Xuan paper. The price was only 300 yuan so it wasn’t expensive.
As for the ink, Chen Huan also bought it there for 50 yuan a bottle of ink.
The boss of the shop saw Chen Huan bought a lot so he gave him a so-called high-end cum-hair brush but Chen Huan saw it was just worth 10 yuan.
Chen Huan poured the ink into a bowl and spread the Xuan paper over the table. He suddenly felt like a true artist as he held the cum-hair brush in his hand.
Chen Huan felt the technique of the regular script style engraved into his mind flow into his hand when he started to write the words.
Before him was a poem Old Hai wrote before, ‘Ode to Redcliff’.
If one wanted to test their calligraphy skills, then they should try to write ancient poems or sayings and it should be a relatively long one so people could see the technique and style through the long text.
Old Lai’s ‘Ode to Redcliff’ had the charm of the Ouyang Xun’s style, the strength of clerical script but as well as the elegance of the regular script style.
It was rumored that it was his best work and it was given to a very rich man in Zhejiang but it had since disappeared after that rich man lost his wealth.
With ‘Calligraphy (Intermediate) as the foundation, Chen Huan only had to visualize it two times and wrote it three times before he was done.
He needed to write it two more times because he was unfamiliar with the skill even though he wrote it very well but it looked a bit like the Liu style instead of Ouyang style.
The third time, Chen Huan finally found the feeling of the Ouyang style as well as the emotion and insight injected by Old Lai before writing it.
Chen Huan felt that he did very well after comparing it with that of Old Lai’s and could feel the brush style of Ouyang.
But it was still inferior than Old Lai’s decades of experience and training.
It could be seen from this that the ‘Calligraphy (Intermediate)’ given by Good Lord was unreliable.
He already knew that ‘advanced’ wasn’t the final level with the ‘Professional Basketball (Advanced)’ he received before.
Otherwise he would have trashed Kobe and Iverson by himself.
But he was a bit worse than Old Hai with ‘Calligraphy (Intermediate)’, what kind of level would he reach when he was ‘Advanced’?
He probably still wouldn’t reach the level of the four masters of regular script style, right?
While he sighed, he drew the Charm Talisman on his hand according to the instruction he received in his mind.
Then he pressed his hands on the side of the copybook. When he took a look at it again, he realized he wasn’t looking at the same thing anymore.
What the hell!
The stroke, the power, it’s almost the same as the original hanging on the wall!

Noli Me Tank in a Mall
Noli Me Tangere and El Filibusterismo are important cultural works that ignited the Philippine Revolution against Spain. They are novels that exposed to the populace the abuses and the injustices of their Spanish colonial rulers, the hypocrisy of their priests, and inherent cruelty of their class structure over the powerless masses. Unfortunately, they rose up in the middle of the Spanish-American War, one which saw Spain lose most of their overseas colonies and decisively end as a World Power. The war ended in the 1898 Treaty of Paris, in which Spain also sold the Philippines to the USA for the sum of twenty million dollars. The revolutionary government was then crushed by the overwhelming military might of the United States and the Philippines turned into a territory. While the Philippines stands as the USA's greatest successes in nation-building, their early occupation left almost one-fifth of the population dead from combat and disease. Jose Rizal was executed by the Spanish long before knowing what might happen to his country. The world presented within The Noli and the El Fili is therefore stuck frozen in time, forever caught in that moment before a Revolution. Now let's see what happens to this nation if we give it the Light Novel treatment and jam the entirety of the Internet into their protagonist's skull and watch him try to fix things with his unfortunate tendency to sound like a supervillain. Updates Mondays and Fridays. Note: The Noli and El Fili have been public domain since 1946. This is completely fair game.
