Chapter 489: 489
Chapter 489: Spiritual Dialogue
The first mental pillar formed in the Phecda World was standing inside Gu Jun’s mind. From start to completion, Gu Jun actually only used 2 hours. That was so much faster than building a spirit barrier, the result overjoyed Elder Tong and the rest. However, since Gu Jun was already familiar with these things, the average member would probably take 2 or 3 times longer than him. But even so, that was only half a day. The second individual to attempt the technique was Wu Siyu. She curled comfortably in bed and her first pillar would be based on Gu Jun.
3 hours later, her breathing sounded more like snoring. Gu Jun and the others suspected she had really fallen asleep. At that moment, Wu Siyu stretched lazily and announced that she had completed. But she hid the fact that she indeed did take a quick nap. With each other as their pillars, Gu Jun and Wu Siyu tried to sense each other. The channelling of mental power and using the Ancient Seal did become smoother.
“Can you hear me? Please answer if you can, beep beep.” Fuzzily, Gu Jun could hear Wu Siyu’s voice. His heart leaped, spiritual dialogue? This function was not mentioned on the scroll. However, it would prove immensely useful if it was true.
“I can hear you!” Gu Jun answered in his mind. He used Wu Siyu’s pillar to connect to her, “Dirty-minded Yu, can you hear me?”
“Hmm, yes, I can…” The pair attempted this for a day and confirmed that it was true. Spiritual conversation was possible but after about 10 exchanges, the connection would sever like the phone bill was up. Then they confirmed that the conversation limit would be rejuvenated after a sound sleep. They tried to continue the conversation right after the clock struck midnight. No connection was made until after they woke up the next morning. For now, their max limit was 10 exchanges. Constant communication was impossible. This function was like an added bonus from having purchased the mental pillar training manual.

However, these 10 exchanges might come in handy at crucial moments. In their next adventures, this spiritual connection would be an extra layer of communication between them. Furthermore, it allowed them to gossip about others right before their faces. This ability should be able to be upgraded.
However, Phecda soon proved through experiment that not every partner could activate this spiritual conversation effect. It failed between good friends or even couples like Malachite and Peacock. So far, it was only possible between Gu Jun and Wu Siyu. The mechanism behind it required further study. Perhaps it required strong bonds, talent, and emotions between both parties. In any case, all members who had built the pillar had a noticeable increase in their mental power and that proved that the technology was effective.
Even so, everyone only built the first pillar. The assignment of the other pillars and how they were going to be paired had to depend on their negotiation of alliance with Mysterium. They might be fighting side by side in the future. Over the past few days, both worlds had a lot more meetings. During the first video conference, when Elder Tong showed the Mental Pillar Training Manual’s scroll, and explained its uses to the representatives from the Mysterium World. The people from the other side of the screen had their eyes lit up. They couldn’t wait to crawl through the screen to snatch the scroll away from Elder Tong.
The leader of the Mysterium Group was a lady over 40, Zeng Chanjun. She was tough and cutthroat. She was a veritable iron maiden. Zheng Chanjun was highly-respected within Mysterium, she was the head of the Spell Department and a hot candidate for the next Mysterium Leader. Over the past month, both parties fought endlessly to gain a larger benefit for their own world. This meant that Zeng Chanjun and Elder Tong crossed swords quite often. Elder Tong was not one to submit easily to others. This annoyed Zheng Chanjun greatly.

Elder Tong had a bright smile on his face as he savored the widened expression of the representatives from Mysterium. Especially Zeng Chanjun, the desire was clear in her eyes but she had to control herself.

This was human nature. They could bond in tragedy but never in peace. Those who fought beside each other in battle would easily turn on each other after the war was over. For example, during the final battle, the Transboundary Team sent over by Mysterium was a great help to Phecda and they treated Phecda World as their own family. But 100 days after the battle, both parties had not advanced on their promises of sharing Nine Mysterium arts and Seven Cryptical Book of Hsan. It was Mysterium who was holding out. After all, the Nine Mysterium Arts were their biggest trump card. In comparison, the 7 Cryptical Book of Hsan was a weak copy of it. But now the situation had a drastic change.
“Ambassador Zeng, you should already know this.” Elder Tong began. “Ah Jun must have told Captain Yu about this. There is now a power given to him by the City of Dusk inside his body. He’s going to slowly digest it. Through this process, Ah Jun will gain more technologies and power from the Foundation.” Yu Chi indeed heard that from the foundation members and reported it to Mysterium. Gu Jun did not hide this from anymore. Phecda, in response, provided Gu Jun with every resource he needed so that he could digest the power as soon as possible. “I will not beat around the bushes.” Elder Tong huffed and laid down his offer, “The Mental Pillar Technology to trade for Nine Mysterium Arts, not one chapter missing.”
Mysterium did not think Phecda would swindle them but there was protocol to follow. This was followed by plenty of negotiation. The conclusion was Mysterium would first provide Phecda with the first 3 chapters of the Nine Mysterium arts while Phecda provided them with the hexagram inside the scroll. The hexagram could build the foundation but without the rest of the scroll, they wouldn’t know how to construct the pillars. The people from Mysterium could easily tell the authenticity of the Mental Pillar Technology. Once they came into contact with the hexagram, they could feel the warm energy from the City of Dusk. However, that was the extent they could reach. They were eager to proceed but there were other things to negotiate.
This hugely agitated Yu Chi. He almost lost his mind. He visited Ambassador Zeng and the other officials to lobby for the unification. What time was it, they were still so busy with the politicking, these people must be crazy!
While Yu Chi did his part, Gu Jun did his as well. They were after all hero figures and were at the forefront against the dark forces. They also had the warning from the City of Dusk so their persuasion was heeded. Therefore 10 days after the meeting, in early August, the two worlds finally reached a consensus. Yu Chi would lead a group of elites as an envoy and arrive at the Phecda World.

But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!
