The elders retreated, and Feng Tianlan and Luo Yunzhu were the only ones left in the courtyard .
Luo Yunzhu looked at Feng Tianlan, who was half a head taller than her, standing before her . She raised her head and blinked . She smiled brightly again and shouted briskly, “Tianlan!”
“Yunzhu!”
Just as she shouted back, a soft figure jumped into Feng Tianlan’s arms and hugged her tightly . Then, Luo Yunzhu burst into tears like a child .
Her friend’s sudden outburst made Feng Tianlan feel entirely at a loss . She patted Luo Yunzhu on her back as she comforted her, “Don’t cry . What’s happened? Who bullied you? I will kill him for you . ”
“Woowah…”
Feng Tianlan wanted to comfort her at first, but Luo Yunzhu’s crying grew louder . It seemed as though she had suffered something horrible .
Feng Tianlan had never seen Luo Yunzhu cry like this . The usually heartless Luo Yunzhu never complained when she fell or felt pain . However, right now, she was bawling like a child, which made Tianlan feel extremely sorry for her .
What exactly had happened during this one month to make Yunzhu so upset?
“Cry . You will feel better afterward . ” Feng Tianlan patted Luo Yunzhu’s back gently as she softened her voice . If Yunzhu couldn’t be appeased, it was better for her to cry it out . Life was full of laughter and tears, anyway .
Luo Yunzhu tightly held onto the corner of Feng Tianlan’s shirt . Her sobs became louder and louder as if she were crying a lifetime’s worth of tears .
Hearing her heartbreaking sobs, Feng Tianlan blamed herself . If she had come back here with Yunzhu a month ago, things wouldn’t have turned out this way . At least she would have been by Yunzhu’s side .

After crying for half an hour, Luo Yunzhu’s tears slowly dwindled . She leaned on Feng Tianlan’s shoulder and said in a choking voice, “Tianlan, I am alone now . ”
“Yunzhu…” Feng Tianlan’s heart quaked to hear her friend’s sad, dreary voice . “You still have me . ”
“Tianlan, let me lean on you for a while . Just a little while,” Luo Yunzhu begged .
She had no haven to turn to anymore . In the future, she could no longer hide meekly under someone else’s protection . She needed to become stronger .
“Lean on me for however long you need, just tell me what exactly happened . We can figure things together,” Feng Tianlan said in a gentle voice .
Luo Yunzhu only leaned on Tianlan for a short while, then she straightened herself up . She looked at Feng Tianlan firmly with swollen eyes and said, “Tianlan, I can only depend on myself now . From here on out, I will only rely on myself . ”
“Yunzhu, what exactly happened?” Feng Tianlan said anxiously . “You still have me . I will be here for you forever . ”
Luo Yunzhu looked at the flustered, worried Feng Tianlan, who was blaming herself . Another tear fell automatically as Luo Yunzhu said, “My dad is dead . ”
“What?”
“My brother is dead . My aunt is also dead . I am the only one left alive at Luo Manor . ” Sobbing, Luo Yunzhu couldn’t help but squat down . She hugged herself as she groaned out in self-accusation, “If I’d known this day would come, then I would have given up my inheritance! And now…boohoo!”
Feng Tianlan crouched down beside Luo Yunzhu and hugged her . “What exactly happened? How did the dean die?”
The dean was a warrior and Advanced-stage Spiritual Emperor . Killing him was no easy task . How was such a thing even possible?
“Earth Supreme…Xuantian Continent…boohoo! They killed my dad!” Luo Yunzhu explained through her tears . She really wanted to be strong, but she couldn’t help but crumble in front of Feng Tianlan .
Feng Tianlan frowned and said, “Speak slowly . What exactly happened? And what does it have to do with Xuantian Continent?”

Mages in North America seem to have it all – typically from well-off families, and able to manipulate their environment in ways most of the world would never believe. They don’t even have to bother with the mundane details of life like housework, thanks to their sensitives, who also make a useful source for extra magical energy. After all, sensitives have no use for it themselves, and if mages weren’t meant to make use of it, then the sensitives would obviously have some way to prevent that. That a mage can transform a sensitive physically, with no restrictions beyond overall mass and basic biological viability, whereas magic tends not to work directly on any other living thing, is only further proof. Waiting every day for the hunters to notice them doesn’t lead to much motivation or hope for the future. And once they’re captured, they’re the property of someone with a terrifying amount of power over them. Anything is better than capture. Mages are born to be the masters, and sensitives are born victims. Or are they? Jax’s life is turned upside-down when he’s caught by the hunters and sold to a mage.
