Chapter 1048: 1048
If it was a zhusha mole was between her eyebrows, then she should be the reincarnation of Yun’er…which was the girl in front of her. And what about her? The girl who had an arranged marriage with Mobai in her former life was this girl?
At the thought of this, Feng Tianlan felt like an imposter. She felt unpleasant inside. She was terribly upset.
“Mobai, she is…” Yunsheng, right? Feng Tianlan wanted to let go of Si Mobai’s hand.
Si Mobai used one hand to grip her hand, not allowing her to let go. In fact, he locked hands with her, glanced down at her affectionately, and said, “These things have nothing to do with me. I like you because it’s you. The you before me has nothing to do with the past.”
Perhaps the first time they met and set out to save each other was because their hearts were set aflutter. And that flutter was a reaction from their past lives. But he loved her, which was obvious over time. He came to know her as a person. It was not love at first sight.
None of this had anything to do with his past life. He loved her because she was Feng Tianlan.
Feng Tianlan felt his grip tighten. His hand was very warm, so hot that it made her hand perspire.
“So Lan’er, don’t let go of my hand for a ridiculous reason like that. No matter what, this can’t separate us.” Si Mobai’s hand tightened a little more. His gentle, pink-colored eyes patiently bore his anger.
If she still had the nerve to let go of his hand, he would deal with her tonight to show her what would happen if she still dared to.
Feng Tianlan looked up at him and saw how his usually gentle, indulgent peach blossom-colored eyes bore anger, wanting to tear at her to prove himself. Finally, she smiled and squeezed his hand back. She said, “Okay, I won’t let go, I’ll never let go.”

Yes, she loved Mobai, not just because of her past life. Why would she let go just because a woman who looked alike came along?
It was indeed a ridiculous reason. She felt really silly getting upset over this.
Seeing her smile, Si Mobai was secretly relieved. His anger dissipated a little as he said, “Lan’er, you’re in the wrong. You’ll have to be punished later.”
“My punishment will be that I won’t go to bed tonight.”

“…” Si Mobai glared at her unhappily.
“So I’m not allowed to kiss you?” Feng Tianlan looked at him with a smile.
“…” Si Mobai reached out and tapped her forehead lightly. He said, “Your punishment is to kiss me 100 times.”
The punishment she mentioned was punishment for him too, okay?
The guards, still lying on the ground, all rolled their eyes and played dead as they glanced up the clouds and blue sky. Your Highnesses, could you pick a better timing to play kissy-face? What about the two powerful enemies standing here?
Su Jingfeng explained himself to Feng Yunsheng for a long time, but she did not say a word, making him very anxious. When he heard Si Mobai speaking to Feng Tianlan in that intimate voice, it further agitated him, making him twitch.
“Sheng’er, we better take care of this business first.” Unable to make these two irksome people in front of them wait anymore, he apologized to Sheng’er again, and then coaxed her. He really had no other way out.
The silent Feng Yunsheng finally made a light sound of agreement and walked towards Feng Tianlan.
Si Mobai frowned and protected Feng Tianlan behind his back. He looked at Feng Yunsheng with caution and hostility. Even if this person looked like Lan’er, he did not have a good feeling about her. Instead, he was still very much alert.

“My name is Feng Yunsheng. Are you Shen Qingdai?” Feng Yunsheng politely said her own name first, and then asked her question. After all, her mother had taught her to give her name before asking for other people’s names.
Feng Tianlan stared at her similar-looking face. Although she was somewhat conflicted, she could not help having a favorable impression of her sincere eyes and polite manners. She said, “No, my name is Feng Tianlan.”

God complex
A hero is summoned to another world, vanquishes evil, yadda yadda, saves the kingdom and lives happily ever after. There is no such hero in this story. Just a desperate youth with great ambition and very little to lose. A zero to hero style story set in a country clearly inspired by modern USA with just as many issues and the minority of mages often pulling strings from the shadows. I am also hoping the whole thing won't turn out edgy enough to cut me. I want to rely on actual good writing rather than cheap powertrip gimmicks. edit: Please don't mind Zetari's salty review. He is quite literally making up any use of the torture and human experimentation trope and says MC is blank after 4 chapters where he conveniently stops reading just at the start of his first character development. For extra entertainment, I will be uploading chapters two at a time and compose a relevant poem through the chapter names. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

The Paths of Magick
Credits: Story by Xcaliburnt. Cover Art by @Bervolart. Magick, the power to bend the laws of reality. All because of a mystical substance known as mana. Mages follow the Paths to achieve power, for there is no more addictive chase. Each Path winds and twists, forcing mages through the flames of adversity and challenge. Though the operative word is "path", the reality is far less straightforward. Instead of a road, Paths are like the branches of world trees, erupting into the heavens, intertwining, and ending in sharp snaps. Only the strongest reach the sky. There are several Paths, and many Ways to walk them—variations of the same Path, and like the stars, they are endless. Magick is the sacred flame that scours the fat, rendering the truest self. Superfluous flesh melting away to show the skeleton of one's being. A chance for ascension—apotheosis. Though not every mage works to godhood, if they survive long enough, It is inescapable. Witness the lives of those that tread the knife's edge of self-destruction. Each one intertwined in their search for answers, revenge, and, most of all: power. These individuals have all lost something precious—irreplaceable—and In search of filling the void left behind, they have taken up the mantle of a mage. Per aspera ad astra. Ad mortem vel divinitatis. (Through adversity to the stars. To death or divinity.) There is no consistent release schedule except my consistent inconsistency. Besides, there’s like a thousand pages worth of content, how can—you already read it? Goddamn. Oh, and there is a very long hiatus between volumes as I intend to edit and rewrite a lot. What to Expect: This story is progression fantasy, so expect a healthy dose of training. It's also heavy on slice of life, and it isn't entirely overarching-plot-driven. Expect characters to live their lives, and not always be on some quest to save the world. There's a lot of magic theory and discussion about it in the story. So, if you don't like impromptu lessons on sorcerous theory by traveling monster slayers, this might not be for you. But if you do like it, rejoice! For there is a lot of it. This is also heavy on prose, purple as a bruised eye. I use outdated, uneccesarily collegiate-level terms and play around with the writing style just for the heck of it. I find it fun to wax and wane poetic, and that might grate on you—I don’t plan to change this aspect of the Paths much if at all. Onto the viewer discretion is advised parts: This is grim-dark/ grim-heart. Take the tags seriously. There will be combat scenes that are brutal and horrifying. Fights to the death tend to be. This is a tale about medieval mercenaries (quite literal killers for hire), man-eating monsters, and eldritch gods beyond the material plane. Beside that, there will be traumatic events that are best left unread. I do not detail certain acts I find heinous enough, instead leaving some parts unwritten but still alludded to if not outright stated; there is simply no graphic narration thereof. This is not for the faint of heart.
