Marvel's Superman Chapter 169

[EXTRA CHAPTER]
...
It's been a tough day.
The President in the oval office was on pins and needles.
The Chief of Staff advised him to hide in the underground air-raid shelter to avoid the worst. After that, it was too late to escape.
"Mr. President, we can't put all our hopes on Major General Cavill."
He said.
"What else can we do? Do we ask the British for help, or do we go to the Red Bear of Siberia? This isn't World War III; there are no allies. They'll just say perfunctory diplomatic rhetoric while quietly waiting for the United States to collapse and fall!"
The President took off his glasses and rubbed the bridge of his nose, where it was red.
At this moment, he even kind of wanted to imitate the dead Führer, cursing 'motherfucker'.
"I can only believe in Superman, making miracles happen again! At least Boston and Philadelphia haven't fallen yet, and millions of New Yorkers are waiting for news of victory."
The President's voice sounded exhausted, and he seriously said, "At this time, if it's reported that the President left the White House and hid in an underground shelter, what would the people of New York think? The people may not notice a fleeing soldier, but they will surely spit on a fleeing leader!"
The Chief of Staff had nothing to say and kept silent.
Since the two atomic bombs were dropped and detonated, the Japanese trauma was serious, but the Soviet Union was actively engaged in the nuclear industry.
The Bald Eagle's side wasn't subtle either, as the military had long established a secret unit of helicopter pilots and ground crews at Olmsted Air Force Base in Pennsylvania.
They were on standby for the important task: rescuing the President and members of the Cabinet in the event of a nuclear attack on their soil.
As long as the White House sent an emergency rescue signal, this unit would arrive immediately to escort the President to the underground shelter in Mount Weiser.

"God willing!"
The President looked out of the window; the green lawn was empty.
The air defense alarm had already sounded, reminding ordinary people in Washington, D.C., not to go out.
All this seemed to bring people back to World War II.
"Maybe it's worse than a world war."
The President smiled bitterly.
At least World War II didn't spread the homeland in America; it was all fighting on somebody else's turf.
But now, Atlantis' army might soon appear in Washington, D.C.
The time passed slowly, minute by minute, and the sound of the minute-hand and second-hand moving in the room was particularly clear.
The Chief of Staff sat back on the sofa with a solemn and stirring expression, as if he was going to die for him soon.
Ring! Ring!
The phone on the big desk suddenly made a sharp noise.
The President's arm, which was propped up on the table, visibly trembled.
He took a deep breath and picked up the vibrating receiver.
The Chief of Staff carefully observed the President's expression, expecting to see a glimmer of victory on the tired, wrinkled face.
The voice on the other end of the line spoke so fast and furiously that he couldn't hear the exact words.
"Admiral Nimitz."
The President, with a steady face, emphasized, "Please convey my sincere thanks to Major General Cavill, who once again ended a war! He is a national hero!"
It was a rather short sentence, but it contained a great deal of emotion.
After putting down the receiver, the President supported himself on the table with both hands.
His chest heaving, panting heavily.
After waiting for several minutes, the President calmed his excitement, raised his head, and spoke vigorously, "Hold a press conference and tell the people waiting for the news that we won!"
The Chief of Staff paused, made sure he didn't hear wrong, waved his arms vigorously, and let out a loud, uncharacteristic cheer.
"I'll get right on it! Mr. President, which direction should I take in this speech? Should it emphasize the country's leadership decisions, the effective coordination of the military, or should it highlight ... Major General Cavill ...?"

After sorting out the emotions for a few minutes, the Chief of Staff hesitated and asked.
If they highlighted the achievements of Major General Cavill, he must be rewarded.
'How long has it been since the end of World War II? He was already promoted to General.'
'Such a speed of advancement is a bit unbelievable!'
"Of course, tell the people truthfully that Superman once again stopped the war and brought peace to all."
The President thought for a moment and answered.
Since he started office, he made the right decision to have a good relationship with the General.
As for how to prevent Superman from having too much power, let's leave it to the next person in authority.
"By the way, remember to contact Major General Cavill. He will be the representative for the negotiation meeting in 2 hours."
The President said.
'Young people love to show off.'
'I believe Superman wouldn't be an exception.'
The task of negotiating with Atlantis should be fully entrusted to the Major General and S.H.I.E.L.D.
...
...
"The land world agreed to negotiate. The location is set on Liberty Island in the Hudson River."
Namor held the chair with both hands, reluctantly accepting the harsh reality of losing the war.
The news came from the royal city of Poseidonia; an explosion had occurred in the trench above it, burying a third of the slum area beyond the barrier.
To make matters worse, the land people had even more powerful weapons that they were preparing to drop.
Unless Namor led his army and returned to the city immediately to protect the castle, he might have become a fallen King.
Then came a new headache, that Superman might be waiting in the Atlantic Ocean, waiting for Namor to deliver his head.
After further consideration, Namor could only agree to sit down for negotiations.
In any case, the war couldn't go forward for the time being.
He could only go back to the city to replenish his equipment and strength and then consider protecting the castle, pushing the opposing army line, and other issues.
'Damned bastard! How could a mere land dweller be so strong?'
Namor cursed to himself.
The thought of seeing Superman later made his chest ache.
He originally decided to let the captain of the Hammerhead Shark tribe do the job for him, but unfortunately, the other side was a bit short of influence.
It might have been at a disadvantage during the negotiations.
As a suitable candidate, Mr. Shaw said he twisted his back at night when he was doing a 'multiplayer challenge,' and it was difficult for him to take up the job.
"Fortunately, there was still the Continental Shelf Oscillator, for a bargaining chip ... to get the golden trident back. Otherwise, the throne would be unstable."
Namor made up his mind to cheer himself up.
After the last bitter defeat, Superman left a deep and large shadow on his heart.
Having his natural mutant ability awaken, plus the royal blood of Atlantis.
With his double boost, Namor had hardly encountered any match and maintained a rare winning streak.
Until he met, Superman --
Tragically beaten!
Ending the winning streak!
A spear through the chest!
Even escaping!
He originally sat on the throne and ruled the four oceans. He was at the peak of his life, but it took a sharp turn for the worse and became a complete tragedy.
"Let the Captain bring enough soldiers with him! We are only negotiating with the land dwellers, not surrendering! The other side needs to see the power of Atlantis!"
Namor said in a deep voice.
The scribes in the council chamber nodded their heads in agreement.
Silently, they sneered in their hearts. 'The main base in the rear was almost overrun, but this wasn't a surrender?'
