Master Of Voracious Beasts Chapter 19

"KAHAHA What's up, kiddo, are you done yet?"
Jomel glanced up when he heard the familiar voice again.
His eyes caught the Vietnamese officer removing his booger from his nose as though he didn't care what he had just said to him...
"Thank you so much." Jomel bowed politely and respectfully to the man. He thought that achievement of this Vietnamese must have been high.
"Wow, you're so polite now... Haha hahaha"
"Of course, sir."
"That's fine, but please forget those dull pleasantries... I've had enough of that sh*t."
Woosh
The Vietnamese again grabbed Jomel on his neck like he was a hollow sandbag and yanked him around his waist, and carried him away
The two arrive at a metal box that is much firmer and heavier than the one used when Jomel developed a contract with his Crocodile Soul Beast.
Jomel was prepared for the guy to throw him into the cage, as he had done the first time, so he braced himself for the impact but...
…
It didn't happen because they came to a halt for a moment and the guy asked honestly, "Are you sure you want to tame this beast...?"
Without hesitation, Jomel nodded. Because he only knew this beast other than the crocodile, nothing else. "Every Soul-Beast Tamer who attempted to tame this beast died instantly for unexplained reasons." He started looking at the metallic cage that held the Silver or Wolverine being...
"We tried countless tests, but they all failed, and all of those experiments will end for trying and losing a lot of Soul-Beast Tamer." Warning him "Since we don't have enough documents, we keep these beasts as they come."
"It'll die if any Soul-beast Tamer fails... because of intense starvation, even though we feed it a lot of energy and Soul-Beast meat, it'll always get hungry, which is why we'll just lock it in a cage and let it die."
"It's very strong, around the level of Semi-Legendary Soul-beast but cannot be tamed" So he turned to look at jomel "Is this your last warning?" This time, the tall Vietnamese turned away from the cage and away from jomel...
Jomel was terrified on the inside, but he nodded anyway because the future won't live if he lost his guts now.
It's powerful, so this is the only chance for him to achieve a small edge in the fight because if he loses, he can only die by blaming himself. 'Isn't it true that the universe won't work for those who don't have guts?'

…
…
…
For a long while, the big man was shocked, and then he broke out laughing maniacally. "KAHAHAHA! KAHAHAHA! KAHAHAHA!"
"You kid reminds me of myself when I was younger, but I'm kidding, you are pitifully weak..."
"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!"
"Still, I like you, young man! Now go inside because it's bound and drugged to make it weaker! So, don't die, little boy! KAHAHA!
The big Vietnamese guy grabs him by the neck and as he expected...
The effect was much more than he had ever felt, but because of his previous encounter with his crocodile, Jomel just flinches and stands up after a few seconds of rest. Jomel searched his surroundings before approaching the Badger and Wolverine-like monster Soul-beast.
He circled it for a time, then approached its side and started the Soul-Beast Taming rite.
Blergh!
Jomel vomited a lot of blood, but he struggled because the creature was repelling him as he contacted it.
When the Deal failed, Jomel knelt because of the discomfort he was suffering from the back injury.
His forehead was sweating a lot, and the fuzzy beast, who should have been asleep because of the drugs, opened its eyes in a split second.
From Jomel's perspective, the entire area darkened. It was as if evil eyes were staring at his soul and very being.
He didn't feel any pain, but he feels as though he's being weakened by the monster's gaze.
Shrek!
The beast struggled as if it needed to break free from its metal shackles...
The monster released high pitch roar...
Jomel's eyes and nose bled. He felt terrible as if the wound on his body from contracting Soul-beast Crocodile had reopened.
Blergh!
He kept vomiting blood, he couldn't feel his legs anymore, as if his bone was a sap of strength, he forgot he was standing because of the agony.
He underestimated this Soul-Beast because he knew Soul-Beast at the Semi-Legendary level are powerful, and even though an ordinary Soul-Beast Tamer tames one and forms a Combat form to battle a Soul-Beast, his chances of taming are only 50-50.
Their only chance to win is to determine the Soul-beasts weakness of its type. Suddenly, the badger who was struggling and is about to get out from its binding got out from its binding...
It was now looking at his left arm without moving. It didn't move like it was waiting for something.
When Jomel was fully recovered from his state, he wants to try to leave immediately; he felt like not dying soon, plus there's something inside him that wants to run away as soon as possible.

Bizim!
An intense vibration was felt by the furry monster. He thought twice, is he going to stop or not..?
He tried to move again backward away from the beast.
*VVAaAaAaAaAaAaAaNNGGHHHHH*
The beast sent another strong vibration of malicious aura along Jomel's way. Jomel wanted to get closer to the beast but sensed nothing. It was now looking at his left shoulder, not shifting its gaze away from it.
Jomel is unsure whether to approach the Furry Monster Soul-Beast because doing so might be the only way for the Furry Monster Soul-Beast to pull him in and eat him alive.
He stopped for a second. This sounds ridiculous. If the Silver beast were to eat him alive, it should have done so already... Why is it not assaulting and swallowing him now that the binding from the metallic cord wrapping it has been removed?
He moved closer to it, and it attacks him.
The feeling of dread was becoming stronger like it was pulling him away from the beast. Jomel courage and confidence rose. He tried to get closer to the beasts and try if that beast would kill him…
*step* *step* *step* *step*
Closer…
Closer…
Closer…
Closer…
The beast didn't kill him.
Yes, but the beast still staring at his left arm, salivating. He would be surprised if the beast is staring at his face, for the crocodile was in that Soul-Space. But it is not, it's still looking at his arm, but it's not important now.
There is an opportunity while it is not moving. He formed another seal, and then.
*pat*
He patted its forehead and then
…
…
…
The contract was successful.
Without waiting for him to celebrate, the monster pulled him inside his Soul-Space…
Roar!
A Shadow of darkness enveloped Jomel Soul-body without him knowing. When the Monster saw this, it roars with joy like it was seeing its bride be!
The eye of the monster became red with madness!
*thump* *step* *thump* *step* *thump* *step*
The Soul-Beast became silent and walk slowly towards him.
*zisizi*
*zisizi*
*zisizi*
Jomel knows what's going to happen next, the furry monster going to eat him alive and whole.
He's had enough of terror for the day and his eyes become deadpan, and plans to accept his death!
There's nothing he can do and muttered, "So much for my guts, huh!"
So he opened his arms wide willingly like he was waiting for the beast to come to his embrace.
Growl
Another monster comes to the rescue.
The crocodile Soul-Beast!
Jomel's hope for survival surfaced!
The crocodile made a low growl, standing in front of jomel!
He is protecting his owner!
With a low growl and then bubble e surfaced and coated its giant body!
The foe only stared at it…
*growl!*
The crocodile released a bubble bomb!
*Ka-Boom!!!!* *Ka-Boom!!!!* *Ka-Boom!!!!*
Jomel thought the foe is finished but…
When the liquid smoke subsided, he saw the appearance of the enemy; it is without damage.
This time the scream of the foe was full of hatred! It is infuriated to that attack!
The body of the enemy glows up to the color of darkness..!
It coated its entire body and then with fast movements!
Bam!
The crocodile was injured, though it seems like it is just normal damage.
Growl
Jomel's crocodile made a low growl again!
A yellow-green like aura that is made of the gust of wind appeared from this air.
Creating a crocodile bone threat!
Jomel grinned. He is very proud of his Crocodile Soul-beast because these animals rarely have a wind form and just liquid.
If they have a wind type, it means they spent their time in the wild rather than in captivity, and their wind type is stronger than normal!
The foe dodged the strike- the foe spit out a green aura, forming a green-like aura from his mouth that covered its body, turning from darkness to the green-like stuff, greener than his crocodile!
Then it…
Swish
Like a knife in solid butter.
The monster pierced through the boney body of the crocodile…
Killing it, instantly...
Ugh!
Jomel groaned in pain and anguish!!!
He didn't have time to respond to his Soul-sudden beast's demise!
It's as if something was torn apart inside of him! Jomel was looking blankly in the air outside! The tattoo on the side of his face had bled!
This is a hint that his first Soul-beast has passed away!

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion. Please use your best judgment, and don't be afraid to take breaks and come back later. I'll still be here! [Discord] - come hang out and chat! Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
