The Mysterious Black Magician Chapter 161

"I-I just can't let him and his sister die. I can't settle without doing something to help after someone asking me for help..."
She said with a face near crying. His gaze was on her. It was a gaze that wanted to scrutinize someone.
"What can you do? Will you trade your life to save them?" She heard his voice. It was cold and demanding. Demanding an honest answer, that's what she felt from it.
Rea swallowed back her saliva to wet her throat.
"I-I won't trade my life. But I want to try to save them. I want to see if I can do a thing. Even if it put my life in danger."
Yman remembered the kid's words. The person who took hostage his sister told him to bring the two of them in the Back River. If not, the man would kill his sister.
Also, if they reported the situation to the guards or palace soldiers, he would kill his sister without a second thought.
After hearing it, Rea dragged him together with her. Not even asking his opinion as to her bodyguard. 'Such a troublesome girl. And yet, she wanted to rush over there without a proper plan. Even though she said earnestly that she won't trade her life, she still wanted to help even if it put her life in danger. She said it, yet she was shakingly afraid right now.'
He thought when he noticed her hands and shoulders slightly trembling.
'She's contradicting herself. It's not hard to guess that it's her conscience that's dragging her to make a logical decision.'
'In fact, the two kids are not related to her. She doesn't even know about them. She wanted to put herself in danger just to try saving some strangers.'

In this era, it's an idiotic decision. Many will find it absurd.
For him, it was one of the most illogical decisions and… surreal.
He sighed.
A person who wants to become stronger doesn't need a conscience. One must be a ruthless killing machine to acquire strength.
However, the girl in front of him wasn't in this category. And because she wasn't, someone must do it for her.
He noticed her mouth twitched then she opened it slowly.
"Sorry if I'm dragging you with this. Y-You can leave me here if you want. I-I promise I won't condemn you if something bad happened to me and the children," she added while slightly looking below. She said it but in truth, she didn't want him to leave her in this place.
Yman scratched the back of his head.
'Troublesome girl…' he thought. In any case, she was his employer and he already accepted the job and even spent some of the advance payment. So whatever trouble she found herself in, he must be together with her.
"How can I face the Headmaster if I leave you here."
Upon hearing him, signs of tears were visible in her eyes. "D-Do you mean—"
"Mhm."
'The problem is, I ran out of stock of Fire Dolls,' he thought.
Sistela warned her.
'No choice, huh!' He thought and briefly stared at the girl in front of him.
"Okay, since you want to save them…" he said at her.
Not far from the alleyway where they currently are, the people in black clothing were rushing in their direction.
"Boss, most of our men are already in their position for an ambush!"
"Hehe, that's good."
"Boss, there!" Shouted one of Scar's men upon seeing the alleyway ahead of them.

"I saw it! You fool!" Bellowed Scar.
"Aah, sorry, Boss! I'm just excited!" Said the person.
Most of them are excited. After all, if they succeed in today's mission, not only they will get more money rewards, they can also get beautiful women! Everyone is salivating while imagining the scene.
After several seconds, they finally arrived at the alleyway! They leaped higher and landed on the ground one after another.
Without stopping their feet they rushed towards the Back River.
However, before they could make several steps, everyone stopped on their feet when something was thrown and rolled on the ground several times before it went into a stop in front of them.
"What the—" exclaimed Scar.
"Boss look!" One of his men shouted.
"A body?!"
"Wait, Isn't he one of us!"
Scar's ear twitched upon hearing Fang's remarks.
He was right, the person who rolled on the ground was one of their men. He was the person Scar tasked to hostage the kid and brought it to the Back River. But how was he thrown here?
The body was twitching. And they noticed that some part of his body was missing.
"He lost his arms!?"
One of his men immediately rushed forward to check the person.
"Hey! Are you okay?! What happened buddy?"
He saw the guy having a face as pale as ghost.
"The heck what happened!"
Scar and the others frowned.
The guy was barely alive, but still able to glance around him. When he saw their Boss Scar, "B-Boss, t-that person is d-danger— ous," said the person who lost his arms.
"Wait, how about the others?" Scar asked but it was too late.
"Boss, he already lost his consciousness!" Fang reported.
Although there were many ways to regrow back his arms, the cost wasn't cheap. It would be good if there was a high-level healer who could cast high tier healing which is called Restoration.
"Finish him," he coldly said.
"But Boss…"
"We can't bring back a useless fool!" He bellowed.
"O-okay Boss!"
Shing!
Blood splattered after Fang pierced a dagger into the unconscious person's chest. "Damn it!" He muttered in regret.
Scar narrowed his eyes. 'What was happening here? And what he meant by -that person- words of his?' Scar pondered. In any case, they must continue the plan "Let's go!" He couldn't stop the plan just because he lost a man.
A moment before they resumed their steps. Everyone froze once again.
Waaahhhh!
Nooooooo!
Heeeelp!
Gyaaaaaah!
"Monster! Monster! Get away from me! Get away from me!"
GYAAAAAAAHHH!!!
Everyone heard some crying voices.
"What's that?" Fang asked.
"Boss, it's coming from the Back River!" One of their companions announced.
Fang and Scar looked at each other.
"Let's go! We can't waste our time here!"
"Yes, Boss!"
The group wanted to proceed yet, "wait what is that?"
One of his men was staring above.
"What the he—ll is that…" Scar muttered in disbelief.

NEVER SPLIT THE PARTY: The Adventures of The Creeping Bam (BOOK ONE: The Job)
TAO is a broken world held together with nothing but magic and the will of the gods who protect it and its people. Then thousand years ago THE SUNDERING struck and Tao was almost torn apart by a terrible magical cataclysm which resulted in the planet almost being halted in its journey through the cosmos. It took all the power the gods of Tao could muster to restore its orbit and set it turning again, but in their efforts it was forever changed – its axis was drastically altered, and it now spins in such a way that one face of the world is forever turned from the sun it orbits, leaving half the planet in perpetual darkness. The various humanoid races that survived and now thrive within the habitable parts of THE DAY LANDS have come to live in perpetual fear of what lives beyond THE BORDERLANDS that separate them from whatever dwells within THE NIGHT LANDS, but for ten millennia it has kept its secrets. The land of RUNDAO languishes under the rule of their warlike Northern neighbours, the TEKTEHRAN EMPIRE, while a small, ragtag band of motley adventurers ply their mercenary trade fighting monsters and protecting the common man from the various dangers that haunt the night and prowl the hinterlands on the edges of civilization. THE CREEPING BAM have amassed a modest reputation in their years together, but they’re still just a small-time party of sellswords, thieves, outcasts and mages. They’re also exactly the kind of underdogs the people of Tao doesn’t yet realise are needed to save the world from the encroaching darkness they doesn’t even know is coming … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
