The Mysterious Black Magician Chapter 208

The next day, The Mysterious name had become the flesh of some gossips, especially inside the lobby.
In the headquarters of Mighty Solus departments, Lord Gregor was sitting in front of the oval wooden table together with his men, the captains under his division.
"Deputy Leader, that person not only beat your record but also the boss." One of the captains said.
A frown appeared on the face of Gregor. "I don't care! Don't forget that I also beat one before." Lord Gregor said in a cold voice.
"Sorry, Deputy leader!" The captain hastily said his sorry. He could not anger the Deputy leader.
"Deputy leader sir, the new rank 1 has a very minimal time. I think it almost impossible to beat without using your full strength." Another captain said with certainty. The record was posted inside the Training Pavilion lobby. And most of the trainees who came there to train had seen it.
Lord Gregor knitted his brows.
He knew that the captain was right. The amount of time the new beater had was just too exceedingly short. But he could not chicken out just because of it. He was once the owner of that title, and he would always be.
"I will beat that record and reclaim my title again!" The Deputy declared in a crisp voice. All the captains knew that once the Deputy Leader resolutely declared, no one could change his mind. Perhaps only the Department Leader and the Professor had the chance to do it.
But they believed that the department leader and the professor would never meddle in this issue. Wait! There is another one who might be able to change his mind.
"However, Deputy Leader sir, that guy not only took the fastest record but also beat the boss. The boss which I believe you already know…" one of the captains suddenly voiced her worry. She was a wolf girl with brown long hair and narrowed eyes. She was beautiful and looked stern.
The others creased their brows at this statement. They knew what this girl was pointing out. It was a thing that only the rankers knew.
"San-San, I know what you wanted to say. But don't forget that I'm also a beater of an irregular one," Gregor replied in a calm voice.
"But sir, what if the next time to come out was a stronger one," they noticed the worry in San-San's voice.
There was even a gossip circulating inside the department about these two. But no one wanted to point out this as it was a very personal issue. And no one wanted to anger the Deputy Leader Lord Gregor.

San-San was worried because the Deputy Leader was unlike most Wolfmen people. He wasn't the duelist type. He was a caster. So if he encountered a warrior-type opponent with agile movement there was a big chance that he would lose. But in a group battle, everyone agreed that he was a god.
(However,)
That Dummy Fighting was a room for solo training. So he had to fight alone. Even though he managed to kill the irregular boss last time, it didn't mean he would be lucky next time. The irregular boss he faced last time wasn't an agile type. It was a big horned snail that was strong against physical attack and weak against magical.
But even with that kind of enemy, it was a hard fight for him. Though in the end, he managed to end it that took him an hour.
(Yet,)
"Don't mind it, I can defeat whatever boss will come out," everyone was surprised by the Deputy Leader's confidence.
Even San-San was looking at him with doubt.
Then they noticed his mouth curled upward as his eyes showed a glint of excitement. A different feeling towards him, that was what they felt while looking at Gregor.
It seemed like they were staring at a different person in a brief moment.
Everyone gulped subconsciously when they noticed the glass of water on the table showed leaks.
Right at this moment, everyone noticed something different in him.
Everyone's face suddenly lit up.
"Deputy Leader sir, congratulations on your breakthrough sir!" One of the captains immediately congratulated the deputy leader. And the others followed after him.
"This thing is worthy of celebration, Deputy sir!"
Lord Gregor stared at them with a grin on his face.
"I'm happy for your breakthrough, Greg," Said San-San with slight redness on her face. Gregor smiled at her.
Gregor went into thought. 'The thing that the mysterious person did is worthy of attention especially to the rankers like me. Activating the boss so early doesn't need good luck.
What one needs is bad luck.
Most of the rankers knew that the boss that will appear irregularly is much stronger than the boss waiting in the 10th waves.
And most of the irregular bosses have high status and unique spells.
On top of that, the irregular boss is random. This information about the real strength of the irregular boss is only known to the rankers.
Normal students had no idea how strong the irregular boss was. So even if The Mysterious killed the boss, it wasn't surprising for them. The most surprising for them was that he beat the record holder of the fastest.

But it was different for the rankers.
The real commendable part about his achievement was killing the boss. It will not only bring benefits to himself and to the department he belongs to, but he can also get sponsorships from the facility he's currently in rank." Gregor narrowed his eyes as a plan came into his mind. It didn't take a second when a smile leaked on his face.
After the news about The Mysterious beating the boss had reached his ears, Gregor changed his plan. He initially wanted to try his strength, but change it.
Especially that he had a breakthrough recently. And he also learned some awesome spells. Aside from that, he could not act recklessly, as he was one of the deputy leaders of the Mighty Solus department.
(But first of all,)
"Deputy sir, are we not going to investigate that person's identity?" One of the captains asked him.
"Hm, no need for that, I'm sure the Training Pavilion management will contact that person later on to publicize him."
Gregor knew that this would happen, especially that person was able to beat an irregular boss. The management of the Training Pavilion would certainly reach their hands to that person. Just like what they did to him before.
They would surely do something to get his favor. As the new ranker, his identity will surely come to light sooner. He just needed to wait.
"Oh, I see, you are right, sir!" Said the captain while fixing his seat.
Gregor could only wait for the right time to beat that guy's record and dragged him out of his throne. And once again reclaim the throne for himself. The perfect timing for that was of course after that guy was officially announced as the new ranker.
From being the ranker of the fastest time, to being the fastest ranker who lost his crown. 'Hehehe!' Gregor chuckled inwardly at his wonderful plan.
(Around this time,)
A yawn escaped from Yman's mouth while he was walking towards the Little Garden.
He came together with Rea but she was summoned by the people from the council. They walked together towards there but she received another message, stating that she needed to come alone.
Looking at her face, Yman guessed the message came from her cousin. He decided to let out two of his scout bird enhanced fire dolls to monitor her.
Yman and Sistela went directly to the Little Garden.
When he opened the door, he saw Cinde, Airi, and the Professor together with some unknown people.
'Visitors?' Yman muttered in his mind upon seeing the other people inside.
Two visitors were nice looking dresses. He was surprised to see them. He wondered who they were.
Currently, they were all staring in his direction.
A moment later, "Hey, apprentice, you are finally here. Come!" The professor beckoned him to come.
Yman went directly. Then he was introduced by the Professor to their visitors.
He learned that these people were from the Training Pavilion management.
He needed to sign some documents to receive his rewards and the reward points for every department he belongs to. If he belonged to multiple departments, then the points would be distributed depending on him.
They needed also to publicize him as the new ranker who beat the fastest record to summon the boss from the previous ranker who occupied the throne for a long.
Airi and Prof. Ronnie were surprised to hear that Yman was able to steal a rank! It wasn't common to see a record beaten by someone as most of the rankers at the moment who were occupying all the rankings were all commendable individuals and not easy to beat.
They were asking how he did it. Cinde was the one who answered them.
"Really? We will get points?" Airi beamed in excitement upon hearing the people from Training Pavilion's words.
"Yes, since the member of your department was able to occupy the ranking system in the Training Pavillion. As per the Academy's rule, we will comply by sending monthly points to the ranker's department.
Last night, Rea explained to him about the ranking system inside the campus. That if he wanted his department to gain points and recognition, he could occupy the ranking position by beating the record of other rankers.
The more ranking positions he occupies, the more points that the department he belongs to will get.
And thus, he could use those points to buy the rights that the department would function much longer. Or bought some useful items to improve the facility.
After hearing Rea's explanations, his honest impression of the academy was that it was like a metropolitan city.
Yman did not think long when he decided to agree with the terms and conditions of the Training Pavilion management.
They just wanted him to publicly announce as the new ranker. He couldn't find any problems with it.
And most important was the benefits.
Rather than that, something was bothering him.
Who was the one who wrote the name-- The Mysterious?

To Become a Troll: A Monster Evolution Story
Thrust into the supernatural world of the deep forest, Paul finds himself in a situation where he could find himself prey to pretty much every other creature and animal around. If he's to survive, he must shed his weak form to grow stronger and survive. But the forest is full of creatures beyond human understanding, that act without the need for food or shelter and that seem to exist for the sole purpose of dragging humans to the bottom of a murky river. Is it really possible to kill such creatures when your only strength is physical prowess? --- A monster evolution story based on Swedish creature mythology. The focus will overwhelmingly be on the progression of the main character and his slow increase in strength. Although many of the creatures are based on Swedish creature mythology, I have taken creative liberties in order to ensure that evolution lines and the such are in line with the usual. The main thought I had when going into this is that I want to delay the "meeting a human" section as much as possible. My plan is to get him to endgame levels of strength before even sniffing the possibility of seeing a human. Whether I'm actually able to do this remains to be seen, but I'm holding my thumbs! Also, I'm aware that there are other troll evolution stories, but this is unrelated to them. They can do their stuff and I'll do mine, but this is in no way related to any of them. That said, hope you enjoy it!

Author's Rant
Just a disclaimer, this is not and never will be a story. I just, noticed I have a bad habit of wanting to rant in my author's notes, and have decided that, instead of accidentally doubling the length of each chapter with the author's note alone, I will shove those long-ass rants here. It might contain spoilers for my stories, as I usually wind up ranting about different parts I'm writing. So, if you actually enjoy my rants...well, firstly, what is wrong with you? Secondly, welcome! Time to figure out what tags to stick on this. Also, as of the second chapter, I have decided to shove some of my story ideas here. So if you enjoy half-baked, unfinished stories, then I got those too. I think that adds that short story tag?
