Some people from the defender's group were wriggling on the ground. They were bloody all over. Some ran to rescue them and evacuated for healing.

The others were fighting against the smaller monsters. And some evolved creatures fought in the air against the other defenders who were on their flying sticks.

Bang! A loud crash wafted the dust and debris.

Although the attack failed to hit a single target, they were still thrown away by the shockwaves. About seven people rolled a few steps away from their former position.

The cause of the crash was the squirming parts that looked like tentacles. They were everywhere around the Demonic Worm's body.

"Don't stop! Cut the tentacles!"

Yman and Rea heard a loud commanding voice coming from the Senior Leader.

After his command, magical attacks were flying from everywhere towards the giant monster.

The giant monster sent out a loud shrill that created an invisible shield, blocking their attacks before each of them landed on the monster.

The shrill came from the two humanoids on top of the monster since the worm had no mouth.

"Senior Leader, I think we need a high penetrative attack to break its defense!" Yman noticed the woman named Betty shouted.

The Senior Leader squinted his eyes. Damn it, how did such a monster appear here? A demonic beast shouldn't be able to pass it. The Senior Leader wondered.

When they came to check the gateway, the seal wasn't entirely lifted. Although low-level demons could pass through it, the demonic beast shouldn't have.

Then, how a demonic beast is here? Even if it came from outside the campus. It was impossible to enter the campus as it was hidden in a separate space. The Senior Leader pondered.

He then ordered some of his men to fuse their magical energies to create a strong attack that could penetrate the outer shell of the demonic beast.

"Wait, wait, wait, something doesn't feel right." Rea suddenly said when she noticed something. Yman glanced at her. "Is something the matter?" Crimson asked her.

"I mean… There shouldn't be a demonic beast here," Rea replied.

"Because the entrance that connects this world from the outside wasn't here. So if a demonic beast was able to enter here, it should appear to the southeast part of the campus because the entrance was there." Rea said with knitted brows.

Yman stared at her, seemingly surprised by her words.

"Entrance?" She heard Crimson mutter and repeated the word. Rea then nodded her head.

Just then, he remembered the demon of possession's words inside his dantian when he came to visit.

"By the way, Rea, is it possible to sense the Dark Continent from here?" Yman suddenly asked her, which puzzled her further.

The two of them were still riding on the enhanced bird fire doll, hovering in the air about 50-60 meters away from the ground.

The battle was still ongoing, below them. However, they were at a safe distance from it.

After hearing his question, she sent a glance. "What do you mean?" Then she asked him.

"If there is a way to sense the Dark Continent from here."

"That's impossible! Of course not!" She hastily replied. Maybe Crimson thought that the Academy is a gateway to that despicable place. 'Wait, gateway…?' Rea suddenly fell silent.

"I see. Then that--"

"A gateway!" Crimson was not able to finish his words when Rea suddenly yelled.

His eyes narrowed a bit and glanced at her. Then he repeated her word. "A gateway?"

"Well, I'm not sure if there's one in here, but it's the only possible reason for how the demonic beast was able to enter here. However…"

'A gateway, huh,' he thought but he noticed Rea fell silent. "However?" He asked.

"However, if there was truly a gateway, there should be uncivilized lesser demons right now. Yet, there's only that thing."

Yman remembered Rea knew more than him about demons.

"Whenever the gateway is opened, lesser demons will come out first."

He asked her if it was the common occurrence to which Rea nodded with certainty. He wondered if Miss Ice fought with the lesser demon also when the rift opened in the underground channel.

"I see," he said.

But then again, if the gateway was also not the reason. Then how that demonic beast was there.

While Yman was pondering, his eyes landed on the demonic beast that looks like a giant worm. "Wait—" He uttered with widened eyes.

"What?"

"Fufu, I think I know the reason why there's no lesser demon and how that thing appeared."

"Really? How?"

"The appearance of that thing and the absence of the lesser demons, the reason for it was… it devoured all of them." He said with glinted eyes.

"D-devour?!" Rea was surprised to hear him.

She noticed Crimson nodded. "In the first place, that monster didn't come from outside the campus or from another dimension. It was the Devourer worm from the Ascension Department's experimental subject."

Yman continued explaining. Perhaps this monster was able to evolve to such a degree of being capable of devouring even the lesser demon. After devouring the first lesser demon, it continued devouring the others also until it slowly evolved into a demon species and reached the point that it evolved into a Demonic beast.

Rea was quite surprised but she could not disagree with his assumptions as it was the most logical explanation of how the demonic beast appeared on the campus.

While Yman and Rea were conversing, the battle below was still ongoing.

Magical energies in the form of shields were materializing in the air, blocking the super-strong attack of the demon.

The tentacles on its body that looked like vines whipped rapidly to the defenders, creating crisp noises.

The Senior Leader shouted for a counter-attack. But even with their joint attacks, the skin of the giant worm demonic beast was impenetrable.

Although their attacks successfully landed on the enemy, they didn't cause any damage even after fusing their magical energy and formed a massive javelin.

The demonic beast sent a shrill once again. This time it was so strong that obliterated their magical shields.

Many men from the defender's group were sent flying away.

"Nooo! Help!" One of the men cried out after the force coming from the monster's shrill sent him tumbling on the ground; however, after it, another whip attack was coming rapidly towards him. It was wheezing from above.

The person's face turned grim as he was watching the fast approaching whip of the tentacle.

Seeing that no one could help him, "No, he's going to die?!" Rea cried out while looking at the person below. Even the other members of the defenders had given up helping him as it was impossible to help him.

Yman noticed Rea's hand was aiming at the person. He also noticed a half meter in diameter magical circle in front of it.

He could not tell what she was planning but based on the expression on her face, she expected she won't succeed.

A loud crash that trembled the ground sent shivers on everyone.

They were staring at the place where the person was supposed to be. Now it was engulfed in the clouds of dust.

"Damn it!" A friend of the person uttered while gritting his teeth.

Everyone was wearing a grimace on their faces, but when the dust wafted away. They saw a large crack on the ground caused by the monster's whip.

However, they could not see the victim's corpse.
