Earth's Alpha Prime Chapter 3

When I first received notifications, a similar situation occurred once again when this tab appeared.
It only took a fraction of a second for me to go through all the information within the Status tab as all its contents got instantly projected into my mind.
Even though I vaguely understood the meaning behind attributes such as Strength, Agility, and so on, I didn't get a clear understanding of them.
While mulling over it, I subconsciously concentrated on the attribute 'Strength,' and another notification appeared, giving me a clear understanding.
[Strength: Increases muscle power and attack power.]
Through this accidental discovery, I concentrated on the remaining attributes, and few other notifications appeared.
[Agility: Increases movement speed, reaction speed, and reflexes.]
[Vitality: Increases overall Health, Regeneration properties, and Immunity from diseases.]
[Spirit: Increases perception of time, thought processing speed, critical thinking, all five senses, Spirit Pool.]
[Endurance: Increases overall Stamina and Body Constitution like bone density, tendon strength, ligament strength, skin hardness, and improves overall body defense.]
[Luck: Increases probability of getting a Higher Grade Item from killing monsters and surviving a life and death situation. Undistributed stats can not increase it and extremely difficult to obtain.]
[Health=Vitality x 10, Stamina=Endurance x 5, Spirit Energy=Spirit x 5]
Now that I got a clear grasp of the six attributes, I concentrated on other unknown words such as Life Energy, Level, and Innate Talent.
[LIFE ENERGY: Life Energy is the Life Source of every being.]
[Through the System, you will absorb Life Energy by killing creatures.]
[LEVEL: Once Life Energy reaches a specific value, one can increase its level. With every level increment, you will get five undistributed stats to boost Attributes to become powerful.]
[INNATE TALENT: Once assimilated with the System, every individual will awaken an Innate talent or Innate Skill, and rarely some Awaken both.]
[Throughout the Universe, all the Innate talents were separated into five categories.]
[ELEMENTAL Category, WEAPON Category, MARTIAL Category, VARIANT Category, UNIQUE Category]
[Except for Unique Category Innate Talents, the other 4 Innate talent Categories have 10 Grades.]
[The Higher the Grade of the Innate talent, the higher their Affinity and Comprehension within that Innate Talent Category.]
[Grades of Unique Category Innate Talents are Unknown and are the rarest of all the 5 Categories.]

[INNATE SKILL: These skills mostly depend on the Species of the individual.]
After going through these descriptions, I got some theoretical knowledge about my 'Status.' I didn't get any description when I concentrated on my Innate Talent as it was locked.
I couldn't find any clue to unlock my Innate Talent, and for now, I left it at that and kept on thinking about my future course of actions while conservatively drinking water from one of the two water bottles that I brought along with me.
I decided on scouting my nearby surroundings to get some idea of what was there in the Trial zone.
Slowly, I tied my boxing wraps around my hand till it covered my wrist and walked out with the Kitchen knife in my right hand, and placed the bushes back at the entrance of the tree's burrow to keep it hidden.
Through the position of the sun above me, I made myself a hypothetical east direction. I moved towards the East, where the tree's density looks high since I could have more trees and bushes to take cover.
While I was moving by taking cover, I didn't forget to mark the trees to find my way back to my tree hideout. Every 20 meters, I would stop and thoroughly look at my surroundings for any potential danger or edible fruits.
After I travelled for nearly 500 meters, I finally heard some voices talking in an unknown language. I carefully moved towards the direction where the noise is coming from.
I saw 2 Green midgets with pointy ears and ugly faces through the bushes, one with a rusty Sword and another one with a rusty mace.
To my surprise, they already sensed my presence and rushed towards me. I picked up a small stone, and when they got even closer, I threw it at the green midget with a rusty mace in its hand.
The stone I threw hit its head and slowed the second Green midget down, and with my relatively fit body, it was easy to dodge the incoming slash from the first Green midget.
Now that the first Green midget missed the attack, there was an opening in its defense.
Since they attacked first, intending to kill me, I swept the last bit of hesitation to the back of my head and took advantage of the opening to stab it in the neck with my Kitchen knife.

The moment it died, two notifications appeared on the left side of my vision.
[Lv.3 Goblin Killed]
[75 Life Energy obtained]
[Congratulations! You have gained Lv.1 (Stage-1).]
[Lv.1: Lv.1 Dagger Training methods will get transferred into your mind.]
[Lv.1 (Locked).]
Even though I ignored the notifications, the information in them directly passed to my mind, and I felt like I had trained with a dagger for ten days and instinctively changed my standard grip over the Kitchen knife to that of a reverse grip.
Along with the familiar feeling over Dagger, I somehow knew a set of Dagger moves for practicing. I can imagine myself performing those moves and what felt even strange was that I couldn't produce those movements correctly as if I needed to practice them more.
Through these notifications, I came to know that the creatures that attacked me were Goblins.
I picked the Rusty Sword from the dead Goblin and moved towards the other Goblin.
Watching me kill the first Goblin, the second one went even more aggressive and even though it was short in stature, it heavily swung the rusty mace upwards aiming at the side of my head.
I understood its intention and instead of moving away, I dodged it by ducking down and slashed at its knees with the Rusty Sword. In that way, dodging and attacking can be done at the same time.
It fell to the ground with blood gushing out from its knees. I jumped towards it and stabbed it in the chest with both of the Kitchen knife and Rusty Sword.
[Lv.4 Goblin Killed]
[100 Life Energy obtained]
[Congratulations! You have gained Lv.1 (Stage-1).]
[Lv.1: Lv.1 Sword Training methods will get transferred into your mind.]
[Lv.1 (Locked).]
[Congratulations! You have reached Lv.1]
[5 Undistributed Stats are available]
[ is unlocked]
I even forgot about my increase in level and newly gained and focused on the notification about as I was curious about my Innate Talent description.

"Dammn!!"
It was the only word that left my mouth. Just by thinking about the potential of my Innate Talent, I stood there in amazement, and only after a few seconds did I recover from dazing.
I wanted to check out my Unique Category Innate talent, , and the situation is suitable with two dead bodies of Goblins.
I looked towards the dead Goblin that I killed first and activated with a thought.

While I am not sure exactly how this worked, I didn't check it out and saved it for experimenting later. I can't dally any longer near these dead Goblins as their blood smell will attract more trouble for me.
I glanced at the second dead Goblin and once again activated .

This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Mabel's boss dabbled in awfully questionable business for the owner of an herb store, and she never blinked when he had suspicious-looking visitors. On one particular Sunday, though, Mabel couldn't help but watch the man leaving Herman's office with a critical eye. It wasn't his impressive height, dark eyes, or shaggy hair that kept her curiosity piqued.Instead, it was the way the shadows seemed to collect around him, dancing under his feet as he walked and vanishing abruptly as soon as the door shut behind him. *****"Do not call me 'Death,' Little One." He reached a hand down to help her up, but Mabel swatted it away, standing on her own and scowling. "Don't call me 'Little One,' Death." She fired back, crossing her arms and straightening her back to look taller. "And, besides, you're the one who told me your name was Death, so what else am I supposed to call you?" The raspy growl that rolled from his throat didn't sound anything like a chuckle, but the slight smile on his face told her otherwise.
