The Copy Mage Chapter 168

Firing at the Moose Beast, aiming at its leg, Damian thought that since he was suddenly firing at the beast from above it was guaranteed to land, but he was shocked by what he saw next.
The Moose Beast swung its head up and with its large antlers that stuck out of each side of its head, blocked the powerful and fast arrow that was fired towards it.
Its antlers didn't even have a scratch on them from the arrow and what amazed Damian even more was how large they were and how well the moose beast used them.
Its antlers were incredibly hard and even swords and weapons wouldn't be able to break them, so Damian wasn't disappointed by the fact that his arrow hadn't broken through them, but he had never expected the Moose Beast to use its antlers in that way.
[This Moose Beast is much more intelligent than I expected and found my position very quickly, which is going to make it that much harder to take it down. However, I still won't lose to it and I will eat its body and hand in its beast core for contribution points] stated Damian within his mind as he fired a second arrow in quick succession to the first.
However this time, the second arrow was an Explosive Fire Arrow and although the Moose Beast blocked it with its antlers, it was still hit by the explosion and stunned by it for a moment.
Damian knew that it would be hard enough to take it down and wouldn't even injure it or wound it much, since he hadn't poured much energy into it or aimed to do so, but he did want to stun the beast for an instant.
In that instant, Damian jumped from the branch that he stood on to another and he was hoping to weaken the Moose Beast as much as he could before engaging it in close combat.

With his newly enhanced body and all the powerful close combat skills that he had using the Maxwell Fire Soul Spirit, Damian was proficient in close combat, but knew how deadly the Moose Beast was to face head-on.
With its large antlers, it could strike from a distance, while also using them to defend itself and parry attacks.
It was also very fast, strong and had tough and durable fur, making it overall a difficult beast to kill, especially considering that it was at a higher cultivation level than Damian.
Forming two arrows at once, Damian had practising firing two arrows at once when he had some spare time between tough training sessions, as it wasn't very physically straining to train, but he hadn't used it in a battle and put it to practical use before.
However, Damian knew that battle was the time to stay calm and never worry or stress, so used everything that he could and attacked the Moose Beast from a distance, but it was to no use.
With its antlers to defend and its speed and agility, that made it very nimble, none of Damian's ranged attacks damaged it in the slightest and Damian had no choice but to engage the beast in close combat.
By doing so, he was opening himself to more attacks, but was also lowering the distance between himself and the beast, allowing himself to unleash more powerful attacks and have a better chance of actually hitting it.
Jumping down from the branch that he stood on, Damian threw his bow over to the side and stood opposite to the beast, a few metres away from it.
While standing on all fours, the Moose Beast was still taller than Damian and its huge shoulders, body and antlers made it appear very intimidating along with the menacing red sheen that its eyes had.

Despite that, Damian was calm and instead of feeling fear, was feeling excitement as his heart began to beat even faster and adrenaline began coursing through his veins.
In the heat of battle, Damian was able to always surpass his limits and tough opponents like the Moose Beast that was stood before him were exactly what Damian needed to develop as a fighter and push the limits of his power.
The Moose Beast let out another loud bellow as it charged towards Damian at its full speed with its antlers aimed at Damian.
It didn't hesitate and was furious that Damian was intruding on its territories, but that was what Damian was hoping to use to his advantage as although the Moose Beast might be able to unleash more power because of its fury, it won't be thinking clearly.
The Moose Beast was incredibly fast and strong and Damian couldn't dodge the forwards charge with his body alone, but he had prepared himself for the attack and activated the Flame Burst Skill beneath his feet.
He launched himself into the air, and as he did so, he streamed large amounts of fire energy into his right arm and hand where he formed a long and sharp spear made out of fire.
"Fire Spear" he roared as he flung the fire spear at the back of the Moose Beast from above.
Damian's attack was sudden, fast and powerful, making it a sure hit against the Moose Beast that had no way to expect that Damian was capable of dodging its charge and attacking it from above in an instant.
The Fire Spear pierced into the back of the Moose Beast and scorched its back, while also leaving a deep wound in its back and cutting through its tough and durable fur.
The Moose Beast let out a angry screech as it felt a sharp pain in its back, but the wound was still nowhere near enough to take it down and as Damian landed, the Moose Beast charged back over towards him.
Damian who was falling from the air and about to land on his feet had no way to dodge the Moose Beast's antlers that were about to strike him, so he had no choice but to face it head-on.
