“Where are you going?” Lu Jinwen grasped her waist. pulling her into his embrace from behind.

Lin Xuanji blushed, she moved, wanting to break free. “Don’t be like this, we’re in the kitchen. Someone will see us.”

Lin Xuanji laughed, scooping out some millet porridge using a ladle. “Have a taste of this, is it sweet enough?”

Lu Jinwen tasted it. “It’s not sweet.”

“How could it not be sweet, I put a lot of sugar in.” Lin Xuanji stretched her hand out, reaching for the bottle of sugar.

Lu Jinwen placed his lips near her ears. “It’s not as sweet as you.”

Lu Jinwen kissed her, his hand traveling down from her waist, landing on the slit of her cheongsam. He reached his hand underneath the fabric, moving his hands around her thigh, feeling the smooth, delicate skin with his calloused fingertips.

Abruptly putting down the ladle, Lin Xuanji quickly moved to stop his hand. “Lu Jinwen, what are you doing?”

“What do you think? Aren’t my actions obvious enough?”

“Got it,” Lu Jinwen answered, retracting his hand. He really was respecting her and protecting her dignity.

Lu Jinwen nodded his head. “I’m serious.”

Pushing him away, Lin Xuanji turned around to leave.

There wasn’t any room for negotiation.

“You’re unhappy?” Lu Jinwen hugged her from behind, leaning forward to kiss her cheek.

Lin Xuanji’s face remained stern. “Let go of me!”

“Let’s spin in circles?”

“What?”

Lu Jinwen didn’t say a word, grasping her waist tightly, lifting her up from the ground as he spun. The ends of her cheongsam billowed out, her heart palpitated but she was very shocked at the same time.

“Ah!”

She made a sound, but the corners of her lips raised into a sweet smile.

“You’re feeling better now? Not angry anymore? I was just joking, the chinese medicine you drink everyday has a contraceptive effect, you won’t get pregnant. Moreover, we’ve been apart for all these years and we’re no longer young anymore. My only wish now is for you to recover and I can take you to travel the world. The world is so huge, I have to bring you outside and let you see the magnificent scenery. I just want us to live our lives ordinarily, from now until forever.”

As he murmured these words in his deep, husky voice, she couldn’t help but feel a twinge in her heart. He didn’t wish for anything else, he just wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

But Lu Jinwen on the other hand was filled with joy. He lifted her up, spinning around in circles on the spot. All the blissfulness he ever wished for was currently owned by him.

Lin Xuanji quickly pushed Lu Jinwen away. “Niuniu, breakfast is ready. Let’s get ready to eat.”

When Lu Jinwen looked at his daughter and son, his chiseled features appeared more gentle. “Didn’t I ask you two not to come? It’s just a minor surgery. With me here, everything is going to be fine.”
