Lady Boss, Please Spoil Your Husband! Chapter 358

And by the looks of it, he wasn't the only one who recognized the amiable nickname.
His little girl wouldn't miss a day mentioning her good friend and neighbor, Doctor Haohao, every time he see or call her.
His beloved wife would laugh heartily and add comments about how 'nice' the doctor was to his wife and daughter.
She would constantly tease him how handsome he was just to spite him for being absent in their life so frequently.
For three years his wife and daughter lives at the Imperial Jade condominium, not once had he ever seen who this Doctor Haohao was.
According to his wife, the doctor rise earlier than the sun, and goes home very late at night, or sometimes not at all. Hence why he had never run into him before, despite living on the same building and floor.
It annoys him greatly how his wife knew so much about another man.
Going home everyday was a luxury that's hard to come by due to his work. He's a Demon, a spy, a double agent, and many more.
He's not a good person. Because of his job, he had ruined lives, caused demise to whoever his employer gave him as a target.
He has multiple enemies, revenge-driven individuals who seeks vengeance or justice. That being said, it wouldn't take a genius to see that he needs to lie low and cover any trails of connection he has with his family.
Lillie Bai was suppose to be his last and final assignment. After that, he'll disconnect completely from the Underworld. He promised his wife that he would leave that life and start anew with her and their daughter.
His employer was extremely generous to pay him a large sum that would last until his grandchildren's college funds, while remaining to live in luxury.

What a cruel joke . . . to think that this crazy doctor who caught him was the same neighbor his daughter adores so much—the same guy who he would get jealous over to sometimes—was actually his target's associate.
That means . . . that means, just outside this place, this unit . . . was their home?
"You mean Little Hawk?" Song Zhihao looked at Lillie, puzzlement written all over his face.
"Yes, Little Hawk." What a fitting nickname. The little girl has eyes as sharp as a hawk's.
Sadly, not sharp enough to discern the demons hiding inside her two new friends.
Lillie circles the man, like a cat taunting a mouse who's playing dead. "How about we take up her offer now, and invite her here instead to have snacks with us?"
"And maybe even let her see her dear father again . . . as a gift of 'friendship'." Ethan suggested, his indifference speaks volume of his ruthlessness; that he couldn't care less if he would place an innocent mother and child into a mess if it benefits him.
True to their moniker, these two are Devils, and they wouldn't shy away to hide their cruel nature.
No one could prove if they have any affiliations with the Underworld. As a result, many try to avoid them as much as possible.
Especially since until recently, there has been rumors of Lillie Bai's relationship with the military that's under the infamous authority of Major General Tang Hejiu.
His comrades tried to persuade him that going after Lillie Bai may not be worth it. Those who tried before were not heard from again.
But he remained stubborn, as you can tell. The offer tempted him. And due to his oversight, he risked not only his life, but his precious wife and daughter as well.
Bitting his lower lip until it drew blood, he weakly said, "Please . . . I'll tell you everything, but please leave my family alone . . . I beg you."

Now that's the sight of a man who's willing to give up just to not give up everything he holds dear.
He knows that after he opens his mouth, he will never see his wife and daughter ever again.
That's just how it is when one joins the Underworld. His only regret is not answering his wife's call before he followed the two Devils into the hospital.
At least . . . he's just a few walls apart from them.

After the whole 'interrogation' ordeal, Ethan and Lillie returned to their car and drove back home.
So, it was Yu Mei's parents who hired that man to spy on her.
Years of silence after they've failed to prove that the Bai family, particularly Lillie, were behind their daughter's disappearance, it seems they still haven't given up.
And looking at it carefully, they're coming back with help.
Ethan was a bit surprised when his wife suddenly let out a short, wicked laugh.
To those at the receiving end of her ruthlessness, he will not bother to light a candle for them because they probably deserve it for upsetting his now pregnant wife.
"Care to share what had you in a good mood?" He piped in curiously.
"I figured out his plan. It's wasn't even hard to put the pieces together, nor would I need to ask She Lei of his latest move." Lillie propped her cheek on her knuckles, uninterestedly looking at the passing view outside the window.
"She Gu must think I'm stupid to not see through his schemes."
Since the beginning, they already know reason why She Gu 'stole' Yu Mei from the headquarters and 'graciously' cure her.
It was so he could make her confess that Lillie was the one behind her disappearance.
"Let me guess, her parents would show up sooner or later to reopen the case of their daughter's disappearance. Then lo and behold, Yu Mei suddenly shows up and points her finger at you."
"My point exactly."
Ethan scoffed. "He's so predictable." But too bad for She Gu, his plans was already foiled as soon as he gave Yu Mei the Marionette Pill.
They've left Song Zhihao with the captive for a while. Lillie had contacted her men to bring him in the headquarters to have his memories altered.
She's letting him go back to his family after that.
Pregnancy hormones are to blame for her unusual softness.
Furthermore, the only crucial information he had about her was her pregnancy, the rest are useless.
He should be grateful to Song Zhihao for catching him before he gave her medical results to his employer—She Gu.
Because if he did, he'll be wishing for death. Nothing could stop her from striking her wrath to those who wrongs her.
May they hide under the deepest part of the ocean or the earth's core, Lillie will find them and inflict unimaginable pain that would make even Lucifer flinch.
"Can we buy some donuts before we go back?" Dark thoughts were immediately swept by pictures of sugary desserts suddenly popping in her mind once she felt her sweet-tooth plus pregnancy cravings kicking in.
"Already planning to." Ethan chuckled and brought her left hand to his lips, planting a kiss on it.

Rimward Bound
Every citizen of the sky-cities of His Majesty's Star-Empire knows that a ship, both sky- and star-, is more then just a few bits of metal. It is the grand sum of it's hull and the crew that sail it. Every sailor knows that there is one more component that the city-bound folk ignore at their own peril: the soul of the ship. That it takes both man and hull to make a true ship, and that neither alone serve well or for long. In 8225 Lord Jeffrye Saltonstall the Fourth, Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps, demands semi-automated ships to 'reduce the loss of life among our brave crews', manages to convince the other politicians and bureaucrats to fund them, and gets the Office of Ship Construction to sign off on the ships as structurally sound. She sets out in 8233 to great fanfare on a trip expected to last six months. Neither she nor her twelve-person crew is ever heard from again. By 8235, the remaining seven Explorers are are commissioned. Lord Saltonstall managed to find crews for six of them but at the cost of mass resignations. The Night Horse, last of the Explorer class, sat in reserve as her sister-ships served well enough despite ill luck and misfortune. The Office of Ship Construction quietly issues notice that no more semi-automated ships are to be built and that all active Semi-automated ships are to be quietly retired and broken up for scrap over the next ten years. His first act is to issue notice that no ship is to be without crew nor sit in dock or reserve for longer then required for maintenance and upkeep. The Night Horse, all but forgotten, is quietly brought back into active service. Recruiting a crew for her proves another matter entirely.
