Divinity: Against The Godly System Chapter 395

He wanted to make sure that he left enough HP for the little guy to finish it in one attack.
After a controlled amount of attacks, he kept the scythe back.
"Venus! It's time. Use Charged Hit and finish the big guy," Ryder commanded the fellow on the side.

"Who would have known that he would gain ten levels just from a single hunt. It got bigger as well. It's now twice the size if I'm not wrong," Shu complimented as he observed the Diamond Tiger while they searched for another beast after finishing the Iron Wolf.
"I thought it would be something similar. It would've been much more if I hadn't received half the exp from this hunt," Ryder muttered as he smiled.
"It was a level 40 beast, after all. It also dropped its fang. It can be sold for a decent amount," he continued.
"More importantly, this little guy is stronger now. By hunting in this forest, I should be able to get Venus to level 30-40. That's where it will slow down."
"That's true. With your help, it will be able to rise a lot. Especially due to the fact that it's really low level and the beasts grow faster. Did it gain any new skills after reaching level ten?" Shu Inquired.
"Not yet. It still has the same three skills, unfortunately," Ryder replied as he shook his head. "I am sure it will have a skill that will use mana in the future since it's intelligence and mana limit is decently high. It's not a physical beast only."
The two of them hunted in the forest and even met a few other players that were hunting there. The other players were weaker and hunting in teams, unlike Shu and Ryder, who were traveling together but hunting solo.

The other players were surprised to see a beast walking beside Ryder. They wondered if Ryder had tamed a beast? They couldn't help but doubt if the world of Divinity had a hidden Tamer class like other MMORPG games.
After hunting for a few hours, the three of them left the forest when it was evening.
The Diamond Tiger beast was level 35 by now. Shu was level 43 by now.
Ryder had also gained one level, and he was level 114 now.
As it was almost night in Divinity and day in their country, they logged out together.

In a faraway place, the mist was surrounding every place.
A few shadowy creatures could be seen barely because of the mist. It was unclear to see them, but they seemed to be humans.
A few of them seemed to have wings on their back, while some had horns.
" Lord of Flames, I heard a complaint that your son has entered my son's territory? You know we sent our sons on the mortal planes to test them. When all of them were assigned their own separate zones and their own tests, why is your son breaking the laws set forth by the seven of us?" One of them asked
It sounded like a man's voice.
" Lord of Death, I had no idea that it had happened. I do have a question, however. We had all decided that none of them can contact us and we can't contact them no matter what happens. We also decided that we won't look at the mortal planes? How is it that you know? Isn't your son also breaking the laws? And in an even more serious manner since he can ask for your help in his test?" Another angry voice sounded, increasing the temperature in that place.

"This..." The Lord of Death seemed too stunned to answer the question.
"We can call it an emergency situation! Contacting me should be allowed! It's your son that broke the laws first!" he continued, furiously.
"It's not about being allowed or not! It's about having a way to! My question is, how does your son have a way to contact you from the mortal plane? If you sent him down with a way to contact you when we sent them all down, it means laws were broken from your side first." The Flame Lord seemed angry, and he wasn't backing off.
"Lord of Death, I agree. A kid breaking the laws by going to someone else's territory is a less serious matter than one of us breaking the rules that too before the test even began. What do you have to say for yourself?" Another person chimed in, siding with the Flame Lord.
"Lord of War, you too? I, ah, I gave him in case of emergencies. I didn't give him the intention of helping him in the test. You can make sure that I didn't go to the mortal realm, and I didn't send anyone else to help either. You can't blame me for worrying about my son," The Lord of Death gave an excuse for himself.
"Sigh, Lord of Death, Lord of Flames, you're both in the wrong. However, it's not a serious matter, so you should both let it go. Flame Lord, we will send a messenger down to convey our commands. Your son needs to go back to his land to which he was assigned. Lord of Death, your son, can't possess anything to contact you. The messenger will take back whatever you have him. Tell your son not to resist with the messenger. This is the best solution. Do you all agree?" A fourth person declared. Her voice made it evident that she was a female.
"I agree with the Lord of Destiny."
"I agree as well."
"It's the best decision to handle it for now."
Everyone agreed, and the decision was finalized.
Everyone started departing from that place one after another, disappearing until only Lord of Flame and Lord of Death were left.
" I hope your son doesn't die in this test. It would be a pity," the Lord of Death let out grimly.
"Don't worry. My son isn't so weak as to die down there. You should worry about your own," The Lord of Flames muttered as he disappeared.
The Lord of Death disappeared as well.
****
As all of them disappeared from that place, another person appeared there who seemed like a young boy.
'Sigh, all your sons just happened to be there when the time of his awakening is getting near. I'm trying to keep him away from their path. I wonder how long it will work,' the Young Boy thought as he stood in an empty location.
"Janus, what are you doing here?"
A shadow appeared behind the young boy.
The young boy looked back.
"Ah, Lord of Destiny?"

Saga of Fallen Kings, Book I: The Revenant Prince
The Philosopher King once conquered the known world, his power seemingly unlimited and his armies inexhaustible. Since that time his might has slowly unravelled, and his once steadfast empire has begun to crack, splinter and devour itself. In the isolated Southern Realms, where even magic has abandoned them, none of that matters. For years it has been filled with warring kingdoms, where as many kings die to the blade as to old age, and constant battles tear apart the land. When one such kingdom invades its old enemy, the King and his heir, Prince Caden, are killed. Unable to accept the loss of his family Prince Arian is broken, and when the Philosopher King stretches out his hand in aid, Arian takes it without a second thought. When Caden wakes from death, he's different. His eyes and soul have changed, and he finds a world filled with friends who no longer trust he's even human. Suddenly thrust onto the throne and indebted to the Philosopher King, Caden has no choice but to keep going - he must finish what his father started, and try to survive the machinations of the figure who now owns his fealty. Meanwhile something beyond death stirs for him, desiring nothing more than to drag him back into its embrace. Author's Note: This story used to be known as "A King of his Own", but after some consideration I have decided to rebrand it. The first reason is that I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the title. The second is that I have come increasingly to view this story as a 'saga' containing multiple 'books' rather than one long, continuous publication, and as I did so I realized that as I was quickly getting to a point in the story where I wanted the first 'book' to end. This doesn't mean I'm going back on the things I said below - they're just going to continue in the next book of the Saga of Fallen Kings. :) Also, be aware that I do plan to edit this at some point. Though I take care to squash out any obvious errors when I proof-read, and do simple edits in that process, at some point I'm almost certainly going to do large edits that might significantly change parts of the story. Old author's notes: This started as a completely random writing session. There was no purpose or direction, but as I kept typing an entire world began to form in my mind that I knew I had to write about. My plan is to turn this story into a veritable medieval fantasy epic that spans an entire world, follows multiple character and storylines, and takes place over many years. The story has quite a grounded, almost 'realistic' start, but many more fantastical elements will be introduced, expanded upon and become central to the narrative. I have ideas for this story that make me genuinely excited and I hope you enjoy my work as much as I enjoy writing it, and join me on what will hopefully become a truly massive fantasy epic. If you do enjoy this story please consider following, rating and leaving a review. I'm also happy to answer any questions or comments you have. The Saga of Armageddon: The Call of Crows
Bjorn Stormtamer's world has been turned upside down in more ways than one. His shipmates have left him for dead on an island for quarantining victims of a disease that he now has. His partner in battle despises him, his family thinks he's dead and everyone else thinks it was good riddance. Moreover, the world is under attack by a virulent plague that kills with light and an empire from the east whose intentions are unknown but whose methods are merciless and bloodthirsty. Little does he know that the world itself is nearly on the brink of cosmic collapse. But when a bold, charismatic woman from another nation seeks him out, Bjorn discovers that the plague he has was not a plague at all, but a trial. A trial to determine who is worthy to wield the power of gods in order to give humanity a fighting chance against the winds of fate. This novel was written 2 years ago and isn't exactly my best work. I'm still improving my skills, but I encourage you to enjoy it for what it's worth. ALSO, the whole plague thing was written about before the COVID pandemic. The plague is fake and actually magic in the story, but that has NOTHING to do with real world events. I am under NO CIRCUMSTANCE trying to make ANY kind of statement with it. Please just enjoy the story and stay safe.
