Divinity: Against The Godly System Chapter 399

"Making everyone immortal? Even though you mentioned it, I still can't believe a god as powerful as him would be so stupid. Why would he care if the mortals lived or died? He died for mortals. Such an idiotic being. At least his brother Janus wasn't that stupid and knew about the right thing to do," Draco replied, sighing.
" Hah, you weren't even born at that time, so you didn't know that person, but he was... I don't even know how to describe him. He was something else. I'm glad he's dead," The God of War let out.

It was the night time when Ryder decided to enter the world of Divinity again.
He joined up with Shu and Rale as they departed on their journey again.
"The Compass is pointing towards that tower. The Ring of Lexini must be inside."
Shu and Ryder stepped out of the carriage as they looked at the tall tower in front of them.
"Are you three going to enter this place?" The Carriage driver asked Shu as he realized that this was the place they wished to see.
He hadn't known where they wanted to go. All they said was that they would pay however much it cost for this journey. He was stunned to see that this was the place.
"Do you know about this place?" Shu asked the carriage driver.
"It's the Tower of Orc," Ryder answered instead.
"Tower of Orc? It's not on the map or the details. Did you have a Quest here as well previously?" Shu asked in confusion.
"You can say that," Ryder answered vaguely, not telling Shu that he had been here before in the Original Timeline.
"That's right. It's the Tower of Orc. Despite knowing that you came here? Let's go back. You shouldn't go inside," the Carriage Driver suggested.
"Now I understand why this Quest was a Grade C Quest. We have to take the Ring of Lexini from the Tower of Orc. Even a team of level thirty players might have a hard time finishing this quest. It's a good thing that you're level 43 now," Ryder muttered as he gazed at the dark tower before him.
"From the name, it sounds like a tower that will be filled with Orcs. If it's a Grade C Quest, the Orcs wouldn't be stronger than us," Shu muttered as he sighed.

"That's true. Even the Orc Lord inside is only at Level 40, if I'm not wrong, but the sheer number of orcs present inside is the real problem. It is slightly easier for high-level players if they come in a team, but if low-level players come in teams, they'll all get wiped out inside. Even though we're only two people, I can clear this place myself, but we can share the prey. I don't think there's anything to worry about," Ryder let out as he smiled.
"Do you want to do anything else, or should we barge straight inside?" he asked Shu.
"Hah, what else would I need. I am fully rested. Let's get inside and have some hunt," Shu replied as he laughed.
He pulled out his dagger that he was going to use as a weapon.
"Let's go then," Ryder muttered as he started walking towards the Tower of Orc. He let Shu walk in the lead since he didn't wish to take Shu's opportunity to lead a quest.
Walking behind, Ryder closed up on Rale.
"Rale, don't interfere in whatever happens. Just stand behind us and watch. The monsters inside are really weak. Let us handle them on our own," he said.
"Understood." Rale nodded his head.
"Sigh, kids these days are too overconfident. It's the Orb Tower! Even established warriors are scared to enter this place, and these guys aren't the least bit worried. I hope they can come out safely," the Carriage Driver thought as he watched the three people leave.
Shu reached the entrance of the Prison Tower and pushed the door open.
He and Ryder stepped inside the tower and heard an announcement in their head.
[Congratulations. You are the first team to enter the Tower of Orcs]
[Fame +200]
"A good start," Ryder muttered as he smiled.
"Ah, I know you said that there would be many orcs but isn't it too many? There are more than fifty of them just on the ground floor, and all of them have a level between 20-30. It's tougher than I expected," Shu let out, as he looked ahead while ignoring the announcement.
'Hah, only fifty. I expected more. The last time I came, there were close to a hundred. We had such a hard time clearing this place even when I came with the team from the Guild. It's good for Shu that there are fewer Orcs this time,' Ryder thought, remembering the past.

"You can take the Orcs on the left. I'll handle the Orcs on the right. Try to hold out for as long as you can. It's a good opportunity to increase levels. Fall back when you think you can't take it anymore. I'll take over your side as well," Ryder told Shu as he brought his Moon Scythe out of his Inventory before he slept forward.
"Alright! Let me show them my wrath," Shu let out, full of determination.
Each of his hands held a short knife as he ran towards the Orcs that were after him.
As Shu ran to fight, all the Orcs started running towards him.
"Hey, are you going to leave me alone? Why are you all running to him? Some play with me as well," Ryder let out as he jumped in the middle of the Orcs while swinging his Moon Scythe.
A high-level player like Ryder was not someone that these low-level orcs could face. In a single attack, he managed to kill the Orcs that he came in contact with.
[Exp +500]
[Exp +500]
[Exp +600]
The notification of additional Exp kept resounding in his head as he kept killing the Orcs one after another. He didn't even need to use his Spells as a single attack from his Moon Scythe was enough to kill the enemies.
In less than a minute, Ryder had killed more than half the Orcs on this floor.
He had killed thirty orcs alone.
Shu, on the other hand, had only managed to kill two Orcs while trying to defend himself from the rest of the Orcs.
"I killed more than half accidentally now. I don't think he would mind," Ryder muttered as he smiled wryly.
Standing on the side, Ryder watched the battle of Shu.
"That's . A decent move of thieves. Not bad. It looks like he has a good mastery of that skill. His speed isn't bad either. He can easily handle the Orcs, even though it might take some time. I don't think I would need to interfere," Ryder let out as he observed the battle of Shu.
He didn't jump in the battle since Shu was still leading the battle. Until he was in danger, Ryder wasn't going to chime in.
Rale walked over to Ryder and stood behind him.
"Rale, what do you think of Shu's abilities?" Ryder casually asked Rale, wondering how an expert warrior of Divinity would judge a player that was using skills.
" His skills aren't bad, but they're not polished enough either. He is a good warrior, though. He should be able to win the battle. He's at the level of Demon kids in battle. He should be proud," Rale answered.
Hearing his answer, Ryder couldn't help but cough.
' You're saying that he has the same level of strength as the kids of your species, and you want him to be proud?' he thought.
"Don't tell him that," he told Rale.
"Oh right, what and my skills. Give your honest opinion. How weak am I?" Ryder inquired, curious about his own abilities from Rale's point of view.
"It's tough to judge. Your skills are way greater. I don't think you ever showed your true strength, though, so I can't judge. You're a very down to earth person. I don't think you've ever used more than one percent of your strength even when you were in danger," Rale answered.
Ryder smiled wryly after hearing Rale's assumption.
' It's not that I didn't use my strength! It's that I only had that much strength! Just how strong do you think I am, Rale?!' he thought to ask, but he didn't.
While Rale and Ryder were talking, Shu was busy in battle. He had killed five orcs by now, leaving only fifteen more.
His level had also jumped by one level.
He was now a level 44 player, giving him even more boost in his strength.
Ryder wanted to drop the topic, but he didn't as his curiosity kept increasing. Unable to control himself, he ultimately asked, "How staying do you think I am exactly?"
Rale glanced at Ryder as he smiled.
"That's a tough question, but I have an assumption."

The Everlasting. (Completed)
An Everlasting. A title given to those who have reached a state closest to godhood. Be it through might and power or through love and compassion. These beings hold great influence over the realms. This story is about Asura, a young orphaned child, who was taught the way of the blade and has mastered the Warrior Arts at a very young age. Given a recommendation by his master, Asura ventures out to broaden his horizons and to learn magic. Follow Asura’s journey and his quest to reach Everlastinghood. Comment by the author: Looking at the chapter list, you might have noticed Volume 1 is not there. The reason is that it’s in the process of being published so I’m somewhat restricted in where and how I can post it. Edit. 18/04/2017 The first volume is now officially on sale. It is no longer possible to get the first volume for free. I am sorry but it was free for a long time and it was time for it. However if you like to support me you can find th first volume here on Amazon (getBook.at/TheEverlasting) Compared to other stories on Royal Road this one is faster paced. No artificial extensions of the story by spending forever in generic constructs, like random ranking tournaments, that don’t really matter for the overall plot. That’s the plan anyway. Volumes consist roughly of 30-35k words. Additionally: I am not a native speaker, nor have I had any formal education in the English language. I am trying very hard to improve myself. If you want to help me by proofreading my story, shoot me a PM and we’ll see if we can arrange something. Other than my thanks and fake internet points I can’t offer anything, though. Yeah, poor student here… Edit 22/06/2017 Hey the story is officially ended if i ever decide to continue it will be on another date. The ending is open for anyone to use their imagination. Thank you all for the support. I hope we could meet later in the Everlasting II. Respectfully Biako

Rimward Bound
Every citizen of the sky-cities of His Majesty's Star-Empire knows that a ship, both sky- and star-, is more then just a few bits of metal. It is the grand sum of it's hull and the crew that sail it. 'Hulls of battle-steel and men to match!' That's what the Navy's recruitment poster's claim at least. Every sailor knows that there is one more component that the city-bound folk ignore at their own peril: the soul of the ship. That it takes both man and hull to make a true ship, and that neither alone serve well or for long. In 8225 Lord Jeffrye Saltonstall the Fourth, Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps, demands semi-automated ships to 'reduce the loss of life among our brave crews', manages to convince the other politicians and bureaucrats to fund them, and gets the Office of Ship Construction to sign off on the ships as structurally sound. Dockyard workers shake their heads at the ships, muttering that they are cursed from birth, even as construction drags on. In 8230 the Explorer, first of her class, is launched. She sets out in 8233 to great fanfare on a trip expected to last six months. Neither she nor her twelve-person crew is ever heard from again. By 8235, the remaining seven Explorers are are commissioned. Lord Saltonstall managed to find crews for six of them but at the cost of mass resignations. The Night Horse, last of the Explorer class, sat in reserve as her sister-ships served well enough despite ill luck and misfortune. The Office of Ship Construction quietly issues notice that no more semi-automated ships are to be built and that all active Semi-automated ships are to be quietly retired and broken up for scrap over the next ten years. The Night Horse, sitting in reserve, is missed due to bureaucratic oversight. In 8250 Lord Ayland Wynstryngham the Eighth assumes the office of Political Lord of the Surveyor's Corps. His first act is to issue notice that no ship is to be without crew nor sit in dock or reserve for longer then required for maintenance and upkeep. The Night Horse, all but forgotten, is quietly brought back into active service. Recruiting a crew for her proves another matter entirely. What poor or desperate fool would willingly sign on to crew, much less command, a cursed ship and spend months or years in deep space? Well, you would, of course. Where else is a kid from the gutters going to find that kind of freedom in the service of His Majesty? A [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] 2021.
