Chapter 713: A Crushing Experience
Translator: Henyee Translations Editor: Henyee Translations
Dong Guo looked up at the white-robed sword immortal standing over him as crushing despair gripped his entire body.
He was starting to really regret his decision. Why was he so stupid? Why hadn’t he recognized the disparity between their power levels?
“Sect Leader An Lin, please don’t kill me! I can do anything you want if you spare my life!” Dong Guo begged for his life.
He really didn’t want to die. He had only just reached the Return to Void Stage, upon which his lifespan would be extended almost indefinitely; how could he just die here?
He would do anything in order to survive!
“I don’t have a habit of letting my enemies live. You already tried to kill me; how can I still let you live?” An Lin couldn’t be bothered wasting any more words, and he pulled out his Evil-Slaying Sword from Dong Guo’s chest in preparation to deal the killing blow.
“Wait! I can establish a slave contract with you so that you won’t have to worry about me trying to harm you in the future!” Dong Guo yelled as a last resort.
An Lin’s Evil-Slaying Sword paused in the air.
Dong Guo immediately heaved a sigh of relief. He had done everything he could for survival. An Lin would have been ecstatic for a powerful Return to Void Stage mighty figure like him to offer to become his slave!
After all, a Return to Void Stage slave was a massive temptation to any cultivator, and this offer would be extremely difficult for one to refuse.
Sigh, he could only live on as a slave then.
Dong Guo’s face was filled with humiliation as he heaved an internal sigh.
“Slave contract?” A hint of disdain suddenly appeared on An Lin’s face after a momentary hesitation, and he sneered, “Nah, you’re too weak!”
“What did you say?!” Dong Guo stared up at An Lin in shock, and even his breathing was starting to accelerate as he said, “I am the most renowned sword immortal in the entire Purple Star State! In terms of aptitude, I am second only to Jiang Yanan, and I’m a Return to Void Stage mighty figure on top of that! How dare you say that I’m too weak?!”
Dong Guo felt like he had been insulted! And this was the biggest insult he had ever received in his entire life!

An Lin didn’t really want to say anything else, but when Dong Guo admitted that his aptitude was worse than Jiang Yanan’s aptitude, the disdain on his face grew even more apparent. “Holy f*ck! You can’t even compare to trash like Jiang Yanan?”
Dong Guo: “…”
An Lin wasn’t even trying to flex this time. Thinking back, he had destroyed Jiang Yanan in a contest of sword intent when he was just a Spirit Nurturing Stage noob.
Yet Dong Gou was telling him now that he was even weaker than Jiang Yanan? What a useless piece of sh*t!
Dong Guo could tell from An Lin’s expression that he did not seem to be lying, and he felt even more crushed.
Was he so weak that he couldn’t even give himself away for free?!
Dong Guo fell into severe self-doubt, and his dao heart was growing a little shaky.
“Truth be told, any one of my five slaves can destroy you in the blink of an eye, so you really are useless. Alright then, au revoir!” An Lin said as he swung his sword down toward Dong Guo.
Dong Guo gripped the air toward An Lin.
Crack!
Spatial seal!
An Lin’s body faltered in the motion of bringing his sword down.
“Hahaha… Return to Void Stage mighty figures are much more powerful than you can imagine! You see that? This is the disparity between our powers! No matter how powerful you are, my spatial manipulation technique will knock you to the ground!” Dong Guo chortled with glee as he gripped onto the wound on his chest.
Right at this moment, a red streak pierced through the air, instantly pulverizing his spatial seal.
Dong Guo’s mouth widened, and he was just about to flee when a bolt of golden lightning flashed, and the Evil-Slaying Sword lashed out toward him in a lethal trajectory.
Splat!
In that split second, Dong Guo used one of his arms to protect his vital regions, and because of this, his arm was sliced off by the Evil-Slaying Sword!
“Are you proud just because you have some spatial manipulation abilities?” An Lin’s eyes flashed with golden lightning, making him appear as if he were a mighty lightning god descending upon the world, as boundless lightning might exuded from his body.
Dong Guo’s features completely paled in fright. Too powerful… This Soul Formation Stage cultivator was so powerful that it was beyond his realm of comprehension.
The disparity between Soul Formation Stage cultivators and Return to Void Stage cultivators really was insurmountable!

An inky-black sword projection swept through the air as fast as lightning and blood splattered through the air as Dong Guo fell to the ground again.
“Please spare me, Senior An Lin! I sincerely apologize for my failure to recognize a mighty figure such as yourself! I really meant no offense to you, and you can punish me however you see fit as long as you don’t kill me!” Dong Guo had been scared sh*tless, and his body was racked by sobs as he begged for his life.
This was the first time An Lin had ever seen such a scaredy-cat Return to Void Stage mighty figure. Couldn’t he at least retain a shred of dignity for himself?
“I am a general of the Green Wood Imperial Family! If you kill me, you are going to ruin your relationship with the Green Wood Imperial Family, which will make it exceedingly difficult for your marriage with Princess Yun Le to eventuate! If you spare my life, I promise to do everything within my power to make this marriage a reality!” Dong Guo continued.
An Lin: “…”
For some reason, An Lin wanted to kill him even more now! There was simply no lower limit to which this man could stoop!
Dong Guo took a deep breath as the killing intent radiating from An Lin’s body grew even more fierce than before. “I haven’t actually inflicted any harm upon you, Senior. So why are you so intent on killing me?”
“What you did was attempted murder. If it wasn’t for my divine body, you might have succeeded. Why should I spare someone who tried to kill me?” An Lin was unconvinced by his argument.
“Don’t force me… Even a dog can bite when it has been pushed to the edge…” A fierce expression appeared on Dong Guo’s face.
“You won’t be able to bite through my skin,” An Lin replied indifferently.
Dong Guo: “…”
He really wanted to stage a retort, but he found that he really couldn’t “bite” through An Lin’s skin!
“Anyhow, how come your reinforcement still hasn’t arrived?” An Lin asked in a nonchalant voice.
Dong Guo’s expression faltered before astonishment appeared on his face. “H-how do you know about that?”
“Heh, it’s just a divine intent voice transmission between Return to Void Stage mighty figures. To be honest, my divine sense is much more powerful than yours, so I already know about the SOS you sent out to Su Wenjun,” An Lin continued with a nonchalant expression.
Dong Guo was in shock for the nth time. Just who was this man? Even his divine sense was overwhelmingly more powerful than his own?! Did that mean… that his Return to Void Stage cultivation base was actually fake?!
One couldn’t really blame Dong Guo for his self-doubt. After all, there was a qualitative change in the consciousness of a cultivator when they progressed from the Soul Formation Stage to the Return to Void Stage. From a theoretical perspective, there was no way a Soul Formation Stage cultivator’s consciousness could even rival that of a Return to Void Stage mighty figure, let alone be overwhelmingly more powerful.
However, unbeknown to him, An Lin’s initial success stage body of the War God had elevated his consciousness to the Return to Void Stage level, and after being affected by the constant evolution of Tina’s Divine Mirror World, his consciousness had been further strengthened, to the extent that it was now at an insanely powerful level.
It was exactly because of this that his divine sense was able to easily crush Dong Guo’s divine sense.
“All this stuff that you’re saying and doing, isn’t it all in an attempt to buy some time for yourself? I decided to play along and give you a chance at survival.” An Lin looked at Dong Guo with a hint of a smile on his face.
Dong Guo’s heart felt as if it had been plunged into a glacier when he realized just how much control An Lin had over the situation.
He was in complete despair. The man before him was like an insurmountable mountain. He was simply far too superior a being for him to even think about conquering.
What an insanely powerful man… As expected of the sect leader of the Four Nine Immortal Sect…
What the hell was wrong with him? Why did he decide to mess with such a freak?
Dong Guo lay down on the ground with remorse and hatred in his heart.
Right at this moment, an ethereal voice sounded from the distance.
“Thank you, Mr. An Lin, for sparing a general of the Green Wood Imperial Family.”
A Return to Void Stage mighty figure, Su Wenjun, descended from the sky with a gentle smile on his face.
Dong Guo nearly cried out when he saw Su Wenjun.
His reinforcement had finally arrived!

YAOS 1 - Limitless Adventures - Yet Another OP Story Book 1
December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and at Amazon. December 30th 2018: V1.1.2 of YAOS Book 1 is out, some content additions, fixed typos. Amazon's enhanced typesetting now displays tables properly. YAOS is shown through the eyes of some genius athlete getting OP inside a VR, ah wait, Full Immersion game, ?F.I.O?. Not a Hero, not a Nerd, just a driven individual paying for mistakes made, biding time until he can return to the Real World. He isn't defined like you'd normally do it, you can pick his looks and name all on your own, just like you do in video games. Believe it or not, keeping his looks undefined is harder than you think. His backstory isn't expounded in detail, but it drives his choices. Book 1 isn't about depressing sob stories but about fun and rushing forward, pursuing new horizons. Oh, and you'll end on a cliffhanger! Well, most serials do, so you will probably expect that without being told explicitly. But it isn't that bad, there's a lot of reveals and more to come once this book, that is the first in a planned three-part series, is finally ready for release on amazon et al. The published version will have: 1.) Godawful speaker tags, I hate them, they make you stop thinking and speed up editing so much. In hindsight they should have been in to begin with. But I stand by my goals proclaimed earlier. You guys should think while reading, that is the whole point of the exercise. Apply the knowledge and ideas, improve yourself, get creative! 2.) Pretty colored tables, the damned blue boxes, a lot of work, 69 in one book. Finally fixed amazon's centering issue. Can't say I liked the hours needed to debug that. 3.) The promised Mitara chapters. 4.) A cover! 5.) And lastly, updated polished versions of several chapters. MC shares more of his past, some terrible chapters (esp. 32) finally work. Some new scenes, minor rewrites in parts. Text flow and other issues. The current challenge is to maintain essential ambiguity while satisfying people wanting to know more without thinking three steps ahead. Balancing one with the other is tough. The smut which was in remains, but the story told is not to be superseded by it. A 15+ rating for the first book is also important, not to mention, YAOS wasn't meant to contain any smut to begin with. If the Author can turn to writing full time his output should increase, so please support YAOS #1 once it does finally release. ~Thank You~ No maps so far, that should be in, but is really hard to get done right. Again, tips are appreciated. Update September 2017: Stubbed chapters, sorry guys, currently don't have time to upload them elsewhere, polishing book 1 and 2, writing 3, takes precedence. Book 1 is in heavy editing, too much to keep synced and continuing editing. I'd need a site which offers JS-free rapid managing of chapters and comments. Coding one myself or setting a premade up is out of scope until I'm done with the books. RRL-old offered that, nuff said. This is only here because the author believes in fairies, nobody reads this, most likely. October to December 2017: Life threw some curveballs. February 2018: Book 2 draft 1 completed, at ~150K words. Book 2 is fairly epic in scope, requires 1 rewritten chapter, some editing. Tables and miscellanea are in, but needs at least a grammar pass. March 2018: Book 3 at 28k words, first arc, rest needs serious planning for spin-off and satisfying conclusion. July 2018: Yet another proofing/editing session of books 1-3, 101+ chapters, ~300k words. B3 at 48k, starts out great, but no ETA, no wordcount limit, in flux. But prioritizing my writing cannot be done, I hate the delays as much as you, but you will prefer the whole released in a timely fashion rather than wait. Knowing myself how excruciating waiting can be, at least you'll get significantly polished versions and an ETA on book 2 by release of book 1. December 23rd 2018: Book 1 is now up at Smashwords and in the process at Amazon et. al.. . To all who wait patiently, offered feedback, thanks again!
