Chapter 786: Little Gu
Translator: Henyee Translations Editor: Henyee Translations
Xiao Ze was completely unmoved by the Jade Bone Immortal Butterfly’s miserable display. Instead, he turned toward An Lin. “I can’t determine that. If you want to beg for mercy, then talk to my master!”
This terrifying black dragon’s master?
The Jade Bone Immortal Butterfly’s body trembled as it turned to An Lin with incredulity on its face.
It suddenly recalled that An Lin was able to take its attacks as a mere Soul Formation Stage cultivator, and it immediately believed what Xiao Ze was saying as it turned to An Lin to beg for its life.
An Lin made his way over to the Jade Bone Immortal Butterfly, which was trembling uncontrollably. “Are you ready to submit now? If not, I can give you another beating.”
The Jade Bone Immortal Butterfly was immediately frightened into reverting back into its bug form, which continued to tremble in fear. “Please spare me!”
An Lin felt like the Jade Bone Immortal Bug was much more pleasant to look at than the Jade Bone Immortal Butterfly.
“Establish a slave contract with me if you want to live,” An Lin commanded.
The Jade Bone Immortal Bug faltered slightly upon hearing this before a sense of humiliation welled up within its heart, upon which its eyes slowly began to turn red. “Beasts will never become slaves! Even if I was to die by lightning bombardment, I refuse to become your slave!”
“Little Xiao, kill it!” An Lin instructed expressionlessly.
Rumble…
Terrifying lightning might accumulated in the air while exuding a devastating sense of death and annihilation.
The Jade Bone Immortal Bug trembled as a sense of impending death engulfed its body.
An Lin turned and left.
“Please spare me!”
The Jade Bone Immortal Bug begged for its life again as it forced a smile onto its face. “It would be an honor for me to serve Master!”
An Lin: “…”
Xiao Ze and Xu Xiaolan: “…”
How could a Return to Void Stage beast tribe mighty figure be so fickle and cowardly?
It had made it quite clear that it would rather choose death than surrender, so what the hell was this?!
Even though An Lin was ridiculing the Jade Bone Immortal Bug in his heart, he still made his way toward it with a faint smile on his face.
There was no reason why An Lin would refuse to accept a slave like this, so he made some hand seals and released a drop of blood essence, which then flew toward the Jade Bone Immortal Bug.

The Jade Bone Immortal Bug accepted the blood essence with a blissful expression. “Hmm… delicious!”
An Lin’s lips twitched.
Xiao Ze and Xu Xiaolan: “…”
A certain connection was forged between An Lin and the Jade Bone Immortal Bug.
An Lin was completely at ease with this bug now.
“Alright, I’m going to call you Little Gu from now on!” An Lin announced joyfully.
“Little Gu? Master, is there a meaning behind this name?” the Jade Bone Immortal Bug asked.
“It’s because you’re such a coward, so I can name you whatever I want!” An Lin turned to the Jade Bone Immortal Bug with a justified smile.
The Jade Bone Immortal Bug’s flesh crawled as it stared at An Lin in shock.
It was so angry, but it didn’t dare to retort.
Xu Xiaolan chuckled lightly while Xiao Ze was doubled over in laughter.
“Alright, we’re all allies here, so tell us what’s going on with the Vast Land of Blood!” An Lin interrogated.
The description that the Jade Bone Immortal Bug had provided before was most definitely flawed, so An Lin had to confirm what the place was actually like.
The Jade Bone Immortal Bug replied in its crisp voice, “Well, most of what I just said is actually true. It really does have negligible effects on Spirit Nurturing and Soul Formation Stage cultivators, and there really are a lot of opportunities there. The only things I refrained from disclosing are the dangers involved and the details about the Kirin Blood Jade.
“When the passageway first opened up, the Divine Bat Emperor sent a small army of one thousand into the Vast Land of Blood. The army consisted of thirty Soul Formation Stage soul beasts, three hundred Spirit Nurturing Stage spirit beasts, and over six hundred high-rank Dao Body mutant beasts. In the end, only about two dozen of them returned.
“The Realm of the Fallen Demonic Blood Kirin is fraught with perils, and the environment is extremely dangerous. There are also many terrifying Demonic Blood Beasts and dead souls as well… It is an extremely hazardous place, which is why the Divine Bat Emperor is trying to recruit more beasts in order to better search the Vast Land of Blood.
“Aside from that, the Kirin Blood Jade isn’t actually the key to closing the passageway. The Divine Bat Emperor has some other use for it, the specifics of which I am not aware of. The only thing I know is that it is very valuable, extremely valuable!

“Although the Realm of the Fallen Demonic Blood Kirin is part of the Divine Bat Emperor’s territory, all the other emperors have also been alerted to its existence. All of them are trying to send their beast cultivators into the Vast Land of Blood under the guise of protecting the Sinister Spirit Beast Cesspool. The Divine Bat Emperor is enduring a lot of pressure from the other emperors, but this situation is going to reach a breaking point soon. Hence, the Divine Bat Emperor wants to find the Kirin Blood Jade for himself within the next few days.
“That’s all the information I have.”
“So the emergence of the Vast Land of Blood is what’s causing the unrest among the beast tribes. But why is it able to influence the beast tribes on such a large scale? What kind of power is this?” An Lin asked.
The Jade Bone Immortal Bug shook its head. “I’m not sure. There has been speculation that the remnant will of the Kirin Blood Jade is flowing into the outside world, thereby causing all this unrest.”
“Oh, right, the Divine Bat Emperor has also announced that all troops will be mobilized to start a new war once this is all taken care of!” the Jade Bone Immortal Bug added.
An Lin’s interest was instantly piqued. “What war?”
“I’m not in a high enough position to know about things like that.” The Jade Bone Immortal Bug shook its head.
An Lin: “…”
It was really annoying to have one half of the mystery hanging in suspense!
An Lin thought to himself for a moment before deciding to relay this information to the Celestial Thearch.
He pulled out his information transmission jade talisman before transmitting the information he had obtained.
A few minutes later, the Celestial Thearch’s reply arrived.
“Well done. This information is worth five million spirit stones!
“If you can gather more information in the Vast Land of Blood, I can offer a base price of ten million spirit stones with no upper limit! If you can obtain the Kirin Blood Jade, the Heavenly Court is willing to purchase it for fifty million spirit stones!”
An Lin drew a sharp intake of breath upon receiving this information.
This was an extremely alluring price!
He relayed the Celestial Thearch’s reply to Xu Xiaolan and Xiao Ze.
Xu Xiaolan and Xiao Ze were also quite tempted.
They could just enter the Vast Land of Blood and do nothing there to receive a reward of ten million spirit stones. This really was an extremely alluring remuneration.
An Lin thought for a moment before turning toward the Jade Bone Immortal Bug. “If the Divine Bat Emperor wants the Kirin Blood Jade so much, would it be stationed at the opening of the passageway to the Vast Land of Blood?”
The Jade Bone Immortal Bug shook its head. “The Divine Bat Emperor is busy guarding against the other emperors and has to remain at the Heavenly Beast Divine Mountain as a result. The Divine Bat Emperor is stationed there with three other Return to Void Final Stage mighty figures to collectively draw on the power of the divine mountain in order to enhance their divine senses while creating a massive formation to keep an eye out for the other emperors.
“The beast tribe mighty figure guarding the opening of the passageway is one of the Divine Bat Emperor’s trusted subordinates, the Nightmare Mud Man. It’s a Return to Void Final Stage mighty figure. In order to check for the Kirin Blood Jade, it is responsible for checking the spatial magic tools of all the beasts that arrive at the opening of the passageway.”
“Anyone without the Kirin Blood Jade would be allowed to leave?” An Lin asked.
“That’s right. Furthermore, if it finds some noteworthy treasure, it will use items of an equivalent value for an exchange,” the Jade Bone Immortal Bug replied.
An Lin felt like he could go and have a try.
It would be fine as long as they didn’t create too much of a commotion and alert the Divine Bat Emperor.
An Lin turned to Xiao Ze. “Little Xiao, can you escape from a Return to Void Final Stage enemy? Together with Xiaolan and me, that is.”
Xiao Ze: “As long as it’s not a mighty figure at the pinnacle of the Return to Void Final Stage, I have a fifty percent chance of escaping with you two. If I use a mystic technique, that chance increases to ninety percent!”
“Done! You wait for us outside the passageway! Xiaolan and I will go in!”
An Lin snapped his fingers and instantly made a decision.

Magic-Farming
A thought experiment gone out of control, inspired by kosnik4's popular story, Magic-Smithing. What would life be like for someone else who was transported to the world inside Magic-Smithing? Someone who wasn't as prone to encounter incresasingly dangerous people, whose life was a little less chaotic? What if this person was content with a simple life of farming? Tending to the plants, sowing seeds, and reaping a great harvest at the end of the year. Of course, he's also a data scientist, so he can't help but squeeze out the maximum possible efficiency of his time and the potential of his attributes. Who doesn't make excel spreadsheets in their spare time? This is a slightly more "Slice of Life" esque version of kosnik4's story. Hopefully lighthearted, funny, and as enjoyable to read as it is thinking of increasingly ridiculous skill progressions. Thanks to kosnik4 and Magic-Smithing for providing fertile grounds for creativity to thrive. NOTE: THIS IS A FAN FICTION, AND ALL INTELLECTUAL RIGHTS BELONG TO KOSNIK4. I'm a patron of his story, and love reading about what happens next in his story. I've tried my best to be as accurate to his canon science as possible, though it's not 100% feasible. Afterall, the story isn't even done yet! My plan for the releases is to release a single chapter a day until 3/7, and then release 4 chapters a week on M, W, F, & Sat. P.S. If anyone can figure out what the EXACT formula for Level XP is, I'd love to hear it. I'm starting to doubt my math and excel capabilities. I have an equation that is fairly accurate and stays close to his values, but not exactly the same.

Fighting monsters, dungeon delving, solving puzzles – whatever it takes, Jake is finding his way home. He’ll need allies. Powerful allies, like a trainee ranger who struggles to find her hairbrush.
