Chapter 977: The Aurora Australis

The Zombie Goddess was completely flustered, and her heart rate had also elevated through the roof.

They were the only two people left on this mountain in the dead of night…

An Lin turned to the Zombie Goddess, and the Zombie Goddess seemed to have detected An Lin’s scorching gaze as a blush appeared on her face and she lowered her head with embarrassment.

What was going on with her?

“Huh?” The Zombie Goddess turned to An Lin with a dumbstruck expression. She had clearly not expected this to be the first thing to come out of his mouth.

She opened her mouth as if she wanted to say something, but she settled for a nod in the end.

An Lin was just about to fly away on his brick when her voice suddenly sounded.

“Um, what is your name?”

“My name is An Lin.” An Lin didn’t think there was a need to lie.

“My name is Tang Yan,” the Zombie Goddess replied.

An Lin’s brows furrowed. “Hmm? Isn’t your name Zombie Goddess?”

Tang Yan: “…”

“Is your name Soul Formation Stage cultivator?” Tang Yan grumbled.

“Er…” An Lin only came to a realization then that the Zombie Goddess was only a title that human cultivators had invented for her.

“Mr. An Lin, I must thank you again for saving my life.” Tang Yan bowed slightly, and a certain pair of snowy-white melons also wobbled slightly in salute.

An Lin immediately averted his gaze with a calm and collected expression. “Ms. Tang Yan, I hope you can turn back on your old ways and focus on cultivating. May we meet again someday.”

As he spoke, he flew into the air atop his black brick with a sense of urgency.

If he delayed any longer, he was afraid he would succumb to his more primal urges.

Tang Yan stood rooted to the spot as she silently stared at the man’s departing figure.

The light of the moon gradually began to dim as her surroundings fell silent again. Everything was just as lonely as ever, with the exception of the occasional wolf’s howl reverberating through the forest.

After departing from Changbai Mountain, An Lin turned his eyes upon the system.

He was also now more proficient in the spatial congealment spell technique as well as his Water Clone Technique. Furthermore, he had also mastered the Extreme Frost Vortex spell technique, which had extremely powerful sealing and immobilization abilities.

An Lin now had the cultivation methods of the yin, yang, five elements, wind, and lightning types, so he was only missing a metal-type cultivation method. Aside from that, he was well on his way to a divine pill… but he was also missing a divine tool.

After a period of hard work, he had completed the majority of the conditions required for him to reach the Return to Void Stage. He was already into the home stretch!

“I should make an extra effort and aim to break through to the Return to Void Stage by the end of this year.”

An Lin’s eyes were glowing with a fighting spirit.

His black brick flew through the air at extreme speed.

He also flew alongside a passenger airplane for a while atop his black brick just for the sake of it.

An Lin flew over the clouds alongside the plane, and he could even see all of the faces looking at him through the windows.

Of course, he had unleashed a concealment spell technique in order to avoid detection.

Thus, he flew with the plane in a leisurely manner for a while.

This was a very strange and exhilarating feeling, one which he never would’ve thought that he would experience four years ago.

What a dream-like scenario…

An Lin was very thankful that he had gone down the path of cultivation. It had significantly broadened his horizons and given him a life he had never even imagined of.

He flew beside the plane for about an hour before reluctantly setting off to the South Pole.

It was coincidentally night time in the South Pole, and a starry night sky created a nice contrast with the white snow and ice shelves below.

He found Tina and Da Bai as the former nestled against the latter’s back while the two of them enjoyed the brilliant view of the aurora australis in the sky.

“Giant An Lin, this aurora australis is so beautiful! Why do auroras appear on the poles of the Earth?” Tina asked with an expression of amazement.

An Lin was very thankful that he had learned high school level physics and provided a textbook explanation. “The auroras of the Earth are optical phenomena that result from the flow of electrically charged particles accelerating along the magnetic field lines into the upper atmosphere, where they collide with gas atoms, causing the atoms to give off light.”

Tina blinked her emerald eyes. Even though she didn’t really understand what all that meant, she still offered words of praise. “Wow, Giant An Lin’s knowledge is so impressive!”

An Lin nodded in satisfaction. It was quite a surprise to him that he could show off his knowledge about Earth.

“I’m more curious about what Big Brother An did at Changbai Mountain, woof!” Da Bai interjected.

An Lin: “…”

“I went to Changbai Mountain to settle some unfinished business and learn a new cultivation method!” An Lin replied with a serious expression.

Da Bai’s nostrils expanded as a sly smile lit up his round eyes. “You went to find the Zombie Goddess to learn a cultivation method? I get it! It’s like learning English from a foreigner chick in bed, hehehe…”

An Lin swatted Da Bai’s head in rage. “You keep talking sh*t like that, and I’ll smash your dog head!”

Da Bai looked down with an aggrieved expression. How come he had the courage to do these things but prohibited others from talking about it?

An Lin, Da Bai, and Tina sat together and chatted about nothing in particular, bringing a bit of liveliness to this barren landscape.

They stayed at the South Pole for a few days and slew a few polar mutant beasts as for sustenance.

They even discovered a Spirit Nurturing Stage Ice Wing Bird after venturing deep into the ice shelf, which was quite an unexpected surprise.

An Lin had never eaten a creature like this before, and he captured it elatedly before cooking it into bird soup.

The soup was smooth and exquisite, and the flesh of the bird had this peculiar crispiness that An Lin, Da Bai, and Tina simply couldn’t get enough of.

After that, they returned to the Hua Nation to cultivate on North Mist Mountain.

Da Bai was actually the only cultivating among the three in order to progress to the Soul Formation Stage as soon as possible.

An Lin didn’t have to cultivate as he was a living hack anyway. All he was trying to do was to nurture a weapon spirit within the Evil-Slaying Sword, thereby elevating it to the divine-tool level.

Tina’s cultivation was even more down to luck. What was most important to her was her observation of heaven and earth. Meditation and expiration had very little effect on her cultivation base. In her own words, traveling and witnessing the wonders of the worlds were the best type of cultivation methods for her.

An Lin spent the majority of his days on North Mist Mountain instructing An Mingchuan in the way of the sword, as well as imparting upon him some spell techniques, sword techniques, and experiences. As for improving An Mingchuan’s cultivation base, that was not something he could help with.

Even so, An Mingchuan’s cultivation base was still progressing quickly.

The days that followed were quite busy but also uneventful.

A few days later, Xuanyuan Cheng delivered some good news via voice transmission talisman, “Classmate An Lin, the passageway to the Heavenly Court has been repaired!”
