Chapter 1720: The Insult-Hurling System
The God Engulfing Skeleton’s bold word sent shivers running down the spines of the twin-headed monster and the blue bird spirit.
“You’re right! That arrogant brat, An Lin, dares to encroach upon our Void Spirit Tribe territory. Looks like he doesn’t know just how terrifying our Void Spirit Tribe is!” The twin-headed monster chuckled.
The God Engulfing Skeleton harrumphed coldly. “Last time, I only made a tactical retreat when three of them were battling me at once. Does he really think that he’s a match for me? Perhaps he’s good at taking care of Heavenly Gods, but in a fight against me, he can only kneel before me and call me daddy!”
The twin-headed monster nodded incessantly.
“But there are rumors going around that An Lin’s power is already at the Dao Integration Pinnacle Stage…” A hesitant expression appeared on the blue bird spirit’s face.
The God Engulfing Skeleton chuckled coldly. “I’ve fought An Lin before, and I know his true power. His power level is at the pinnacle of the Dao Integration Intermediate Stage at most. As for the rumors going around, those are all just exaggerations and hyperbole. I’m confident that I can cut down An Lin!”
The God Engulfing Skeleton was a super mighty figure at the Dao Integration Pinnacle Stage and one of the most powerful beings in the Void Spirit Realm, how could it be afraid of An Lin? Especially when this was the Spirit Realm, part of the Void Spirit Tribe’s territory!
Even if this weren’t the Void Spirit Realm, the soul power was extremely rich and abundant here, so it was an ideal battlefield for Void Spirit Tribe cultivators.
“What should we do now?” The twin-headed monster’s eyes shone brightly.
“Let’s go and make him beg for mercy at my feet,” the God Engulfing Skeleton spoke in a frosty voice.
During their last battle, it was forced to make a disheveled retreat and sacrificed a divine tool. This was massive humiliation, and it was not going to pass up this opportunity to exact its revenge!

“Alright, let’s go destroy him!” The twin-headed monster cackled.
It was a rookie Dao Integration Stage super mighty figure, and if it could follow the God Engulfing Skeleton in stomping the most popular powerful being in the Tai Chu Continent beneath its feet, that would do wonders for its popularity and fame.
One had to realize that An Lin was a miraculous man who had broken two Heavenly Gates in succession. If it could contribute to bringing about his downfall, then this would be something to boast about for the rest of its life!
At this moment, at a certain place within the Spirit Realm.
An Lin was trudging over the landscape and inspecting this place with curiosity on his face.
“Waah…”
“Hiss… Hiss…”
A series of eerie, sinister sounds wafted by his ears.
There was occasionally a shrill screech, and the ghastly sound of nails being dragged across a blackboard seemed to be ever present.
This was not a friendly place, but An Lin was very interested in it as there was a massive carcass of over fifty kilometers in size up ahead!
What kind of concept was this?
This meant that this carcass was as big as a large city!
It appeared to be a butterfly, but its two wings were illusionary, upon which hung countless struggling, twisted heads numbering roughly in the tens of millions. All of them were of different colors as well, and they bunched together an extremely dense formation, creating a trypophobic’s nightmare.
“Is this a deceased spirit body? Generally speaking, deceased spirit bodies would disappear from this world in the form of energy, but this butterfly is different. Its spirit body did not dissipate following its death. Instead, it has become a spirit body corpse with no signs of life…” An Lin stared at the massive carcass with a hint of astonishment in his eyes.
“This is definitely a valuable treasure. I have to take it…”
An Lin took a deep breath with a scorching light in his eyes, and he planned to put this carcass into some supreme-grade storage rings for future research.

However, he had only taken two steps when a “Ding Dong” sounded in his mind.
An Lin shuddered upon hearing this. This was a system notification!
What the f*ck!
Was the system going to screw him over again?
Who let this system off its leash?
Don’t let it come biting people like this!
Tears immediately welled up in An Lin’s eyes. He was still traumatized by his near-death experience from eating a sun, but the system was already rearing its head again. Couldn’t it just settle down for a while?
The system was always screwing him over, and if it was possible, An Lin really didn’t want it to make another appearance. Couldn’t it just leave him to exact his revenge in peace?
An Lin turned his attention toward his system.
[Detected that the host is in close proximity to the remains of a demigod, now assigning the following special mission: Absorb all of the soul power essence from the remains of the demigod within an hour.
[Mission Success: Receive stage three of the Yin God cultivation method.
[Mission Failure: Host is a stupid c*nt!
[Note: After successfully absorbing the remains of the demigod, the host’s consciousness will go into a dormant state, and the body’s self-preservation mechanisms would be activated. As a result, sixty percent of the host’s cultivation base will be sealed for the duration of a day.]
This…
An Lin’s eyes widened as his mind went blank.
He ignored all of the mission content as his eyes lingered on the words “Host is a stupid c*nt”.
Host is a stupid c*nt, host is a stupid c*nt, host is a stupid c*nt…
There was no echo, but he felt like he could hear these words echoing beside his ears.
What the f*ck! The system was insulting him?!
Not only was it assigning missions, but it was also insulting him as well now?!
Why?
Was it just trying to screw him over even further?
Was it an expression of its true feelings?
An Lin almost threw up a mouthful of blood upon seeing this.
“If I die, it will either be because I get screwed to death by the system, or I die from rage evoked by the system!”
An Lin immediately retaliated in kind, calling the system every name under the sun and also giving Daolord Lu Ya the same treatment just for good measure before finally turning his attention to the system mission.
The remains of the demigod being referred to by the system here was most likely this butterfly spirit body carcass.
As for what a demigod was, An Lin didn’t really know, but he had some guesses. The mission looked very simple. He had to absorb all of the soul power essence from the carcass before him, and if he failed… the system would call him a stupid c*nt?
That made sense…
However, was this really not a mission that was simply the system’s attempt to give it an opportunity to call him a stupid c*nt?
Or perhaps this “host is a stupid c*nt” was not an adjective, but a verb instead, which meant that if An Lin was to fail the mission, the system would turn him into a stupid c*nt. This was very much possible as well.
So… which one was it?!
An Lin became even angrier the more he thought about it. After a while, he just decided to forget about it and just do it!
He only had a one-hour time limit, so he had to hurry up!
This mission wasn’t very difficult, but it was risky. The risk was that his consciousness would remain dormant. In addition, sixty percent of his cultivation base would be sealed for an entire day. In this Spirit Realm, which was fraught with peril, this was extremely dangerous, and it could be said to be the most dangerous part of this mission.
“I should be ok though. I can just hide somewhere for an entire day. Besides, even with sixty percent of my cultivation base sealed away, the vast majority of living beings in this world still won’t be a match for me,” An Lin consoled himself before making his way closer to the demigod remains.

The Solstice Wars
In the grey-cloaked cityscape of modern London, student William Whiteswift has two secrets: the Fae walk among humanity, and they are just as vulnerable as us. His childhood was filled with them; they spawned nightmares and episodes, dreams and obsessions. The nightmares remain, of course, but the fae are his normal. Now, he heals them, for William is gifted. When he saves a faerie -- a humanoid fae -- from an injury he can’t explain, William is forced to let her stay. Finally, he may have taken on more than he can handle; Ainsel could uproot his life in seconds. Instead, she cracks a Pandora’s box of mysteries: someone just flipped her home on its head. And because of that, she did something unspeakable. And somehow, she doesn’t want to hurt him. The longer she stays, though, the crueler his nightmares grow. Worse, governments hide secrets, too: they know of faeries. To them, all fae are monsters fueled by solstices and equinoxes. As the autumn equinox approaches, the culling agency COURT hurries to track Ainsel down. With teams across the United Kingdom and Ireland -- iron-strong despite the region’s history -- they are nearing success. A world away, their country wounded, the faerie leaders hunger for justice. In the looming shadows of war and of Ainsel’s mistake, can a human and a faerie protect each other against their own kind? Could their plight mend rifts between bitter nations and bitterer people? Or will it, like past attempts at peace, shatter? Quick note! I hope you all enjoy the Irish (Irish Gaelic) words here and there! All are defined or explained within the text. This is my chance to show off speaking it at least somewhat decently. Still learning. ;D -K

Having no collection of her past, a confused young girl ends up in world unknown to her. A world with the nature as their source of life and magic, but at the same time also the cause of their despair and sorrow. The world seems to be facing a dangerous calamity. Being treated as an intruder, she will have to gain the trust of the people around her and find a way to live through this mess. With not much hope left, what can be done to prevent it? Nobody knows for sure, but a battle of life and death is bound to come. NOTE: Consider this story as the first version. I want to keep working on it so that the story can actually finish at one point for future development. I want to eventually make it a webtoon comic, but the story still needs to be written and the art still needs be improved. So I'll keep writing for now, but expect the final result to be much better than the story now. Until then, I hope we can have a great time together with this writing experiment. Thanks!
