Chapter 1835: Enraged Heavenly Light Goddess
Chen Chen breathed a sigh of relief. “It looks like the risk that I took was worth it.”
An Lin walked up and gave Chen Chen’s frail body a quick hug. “I don’t know what to say… Thank you, brother!”
Chen Chen pushed An Lin away lightly. There was an awkward expression on his face, and he explained, “Um, no need to thank me. Also, I don’t really like being hugged by other people…”
An Lin chuckled casually.
Right now, he had already perfected three of the five elemental cultivation methods and was one step closer to attaining phenomenal success for his body of the War God. At the same time, he had also obtained one more heavenly god power. This put him in an extremely good mood.
Not only that, but he also discovered that his seven holy flames had become purer and richer due to his Wings of True Fire cultivation technique reaching a stage of perfection. As a result, the might and power of his holy flames increased drastically.
If he used the Fire Sage Mode now, how insanely powerful would he become?
“The Eastern Heavenly Gate deployed several Heavenly Gods to the Tai Chu Continent in order to hunt and kill powerful enemies. This operation has undoubtedly ended in a massive loss for them. It’s been such a short time, yet they’ve already lost another two Heavenly Gods.” An Lin sighed with emotion.
Chen Chen nodded in agreement. “In a time when our enemy is stronger than us, we need to seize their mistakes as opportunities to counterattack. That way, we can turn the tables in our favor. However, our losses have also been heavy this time. Ever since the Heavenly Gods became hunters, we’ve already lost three Dao Integration Stage cultivators and thirty-one Return to Void Stage cultivators.”
“Huh? That many people have died?” An Lin’s expression changed slightly.
He recalled that only two Dao Integration Stage cultivators and twenty-three Return to Void Stage cultivators had been killed when he left the Four Nine Immortal Sect.
Chen Chen nodded. “I only managed to capture the Heavenly Fire God out of pure luck. He triggered the Mourning of Heaven and Earth after killing a Dao Integration Stage cultivator, and I just so happened to be within a radius of five hundred thousand kilometers. It was thanks to my close proximity to him that I managed to capture him.”

An Lin’s lips twitched. Close proximity? What the f*ck do you mean? With such a distance, you can already circle around Earth over a dozen times!
However, how could a mere mortal comprehend the outlook of such a supreme being?
An Lin quickly accepted Chen Chen’s explanation.
Beep, beep, beep…
The voice transmission talisman in Chen Chen’s sleeve suddenly started to ring.
He picked up the voice transmission talisman without attempting to hide his conversation from An Lin.
“Xue Yan, what’s up?”
A pleasant yet panicked voice traveled over from the voice transmission talisman, “Chen Chen, we’re in trouble! Hurry up and return to the Heaven Crushing Sect’s encampment! The Heavenly Light Goddess and Heavenly Earth God have suddenly launched a surprise attack!”
Chen Chen’s expression became grave upon hearing this.
It was clear that while he had been away dealing with the Heavenly Fire God, their enemy had seized the opportunity to launch an assault on the Heaven Crushing Sect. Moreover, the assailants were two paramount Heavenly Gods!
Rumble…
The earth suddenly started to tremor.
This wasn’t the vibration of some tectonic plates. Instead, it felt like an entire tectonic plate was shifting…
At the same time, it seemed like streaks of white light were descending from the sky in a region that lay to the southeast of the Holy Glacial Lands. Although they were extremely far away, he could still sense their extraordinarily powerful auras.
“I need to go back. An Lin, don’t participate in this battle. Right now, you’re still unable to battle against such supreme beings,” Chen Chen warned before disappearing from the Holy Glacial Lands.
“Chen Chen, can I go to spectate the battle?” An Lin shouted.
However, there was no reply, as Chen Chen’s body had already disappeared from this region.
It was clear that he had left in a hurry and had no time to discuss such trivial things with An Lin.
An Lin looked toward the direction of the Purple Star Civilization’s ruins. Resting there was a large expanse of land that lay to the northeast of the Kingdom of the Nine States and to the southeast of the Holy Glacial Lands.
As though it had been cursed, that land was barren and lifeless. In fact, a dim layer of purple light covered the surface of that land, and living beings who weren’t powerful enough would rot to death upon coming into contact with it.

“Should I go? Or should I not go?” An Lin was itching to head over to the Heaven Crushing Sect’s encampment.
He wanted to witness just how powerful the paramount Heavenly Gods of the Tai Chu Continent were.
I’ll just have a peek… I’ll have a peek from far, far away. That should be fine, right?
An Lin really wanted to measure his power against the paramount Heavenly Gods. He wanted to see just how large the gulf between their powers was. After all, he felt like he was already slightly more powerful than ordinary Heavenly Gods.
With this in mind, he also started hurrying toward the Heaven Crushing Sect’s encampment—the Land of Eternal Light.
…
At the ruins of the Purple Star Civilization…
Amid a barren land of death…
A region that was radiating with holy light was currently facing the most terrifying assault in its history.
The earth within a radius of fifty thousand kilometers had become white-gold and boiling hot. Distorted geothermal energy surged over the earth, and it was as if they were going to scorch and melt everything that they came into contact with.
At the same time, the earth was quaking and fracturing.
Like erupting geysers, red-hot lava ripped open the earth and burst into the sky. They then transformed into slithering lava dragons that lunged toward the Land of Eternal Light.
Each of these dragons measured fifty kilometers in length, and like gigantic flaming rivers, they blotted out heaven and earth. The might that they exuded was as tremendous and as boundless as that exuded by True Dragons of the Dao Integration Stage.
More crucially, there were hundreds of these devastating lava dragons streaking through the sky.
Time after time, they crashed into the spell formation surrounding the Land of Eternal Light. Each time they struck the spell formation, it was as though a devastating nuclear bomb had exploded. The shockwaves produced by these collisions were capable of annihilating everything in the surroundings.
The supreme beings who were practicing the Heaven Crushing Techniques in the Land of Eternal Light had never seen such terrifying enemies before. The color drained from their faces as they watched the devastating scenes unfolding before them.
Without the protection provided by the Land of Eternal Light, this group of cultivators wouldn’t last a single second against the mighty lava dragons!
This was a gulf in power… This was a gulf in power that even the Heaven Crushing Techniques wouldn’t be able to bridge!
Not only did the earth change drastically, but even the sky was overtaken by an abnormal phenomenon.
Right now, countless beams of white light were descending from the sky.
These beams of white light were even warmer and purer than the sunlight, and it was as if they could birth, nurture, and elicit acceptance from all forms of life. Some of the weaker Return to Void Stage cultivators in the Land of Eternal Light gradually became dazed upon seeing these beams of light. In fact, some of them had already fallen to their knees.
Just a moment ago, they were still cursing the Heavenly Gods and researching how to crush the heavens. Under the effects of the white light, however, they suddenly started to praise heaven and earth. They cried that heaven was the eternal truth, and they cried that they wouldn’t exist without the existence of heaven. They cried that even if they had to die for heaven this very instant, they still wouldn’t feel a single shred of regret.
The beams of pure white light were even more destructive than the hundreds of mighty lava dragons as they crashed into the spell formation surrounding the Land of Eternal Light. The spell formation started to tremor violently under the relentless attacks of heaven and earth.
First Heavenly Disciple Cyril, Fourth Heavenly Disciple Ancient Dragon Empress, as well as two Heavenly Disciple Attendants, three Heavenly Disciple Candidates, and a group of Dao Integration Stage super-mighty beings all stood in different locations within the spell formation. They all cooperated with each other, and they defended against the two paramount Heavenly Gods’ combined attacks with great difficulty.
“What on earth is Chen Chen doing? Why is he still not back yet? Also, how on earth did he manage to enrage the Heavenly Light Goddess? The Heavenly Light Goddess is actually willing to suffer the Heavenly Dao’s backlash in order to attack us!” As the vital juncture of the spell formation, the pressure that Cyril was under right now was almost unfathomable.
His eyes were blood-red, and he turned his head to look at the white-haired female beside him.
Xue Yan—Chen Chen’s attendant—hesitated for a few seconds. Then, she replied honestly, “Master… He captured the Heavenly Fire God and gifted him to An Lin. That’s why…”
Cyril: “…”

Discord Community: https://discord.gg/3tHKHAx7Ye The Vitaean Chronicles are a debut LitRPG High Fantasy series written with the intent of filling a niche I've yet to see filled anywhere else. This is my first novel of this kind, so please be patient with me. Throughout this story, I will endeavour to create an evolving and expansive narrative anchored around believable characters, compelling plotlines, and a consistent and sensible magic system. The purpose of this work is to create what I believe to be a relatively unique piece of fiction, drawing inspiration from many great stories that have come before from the likes of Tolkien, Jordan, Hertbert, Goodkind, Pratchett, Martin, and several others. My goal is not to create a masterpiece, but simply to create a story that someone can read and re-read with the same joy, same frustration, and same investment each time. This story will contain violence, politics, Shakespearian drama, tongue-in-cheek references, adult content, and well-crafted relationships of both platonic and romantic natures. I will not promise you will like every choice I make. I can only guarantee that I will do my best to create a story I, and you, can be proud of. As I progress, I will have room to incorporate fan-made characters for those interested in making their mark within the tapestry of this tale (with the customary disclaimer that they do so while waiving any rights to future profit, lol). Thank you to Royal Road for giving me the platform to do that, and thank you dear readers past, present, and future for choosing to come on this journey with me. Finally, just to cover myself: This work is Copyrighted to the Author herein known as 'Hannibal Forge', and recreation, distribution, or re-release of any material herein in a commercial or public capacity absent permission from the Author can and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.
