Chapter 1844: Three Second True Man
Translator: Henyee Translations Editor: Henyee Translations
As Bai Ling held onto the rigid An Lin, she realized that An Lin had never been this hard before.
It was as if she were carrying a rock statue in her soft and slender arms.
“An Lin, what on earth has happened to you?
“Are you still alive?
“If you can’t talk, then can you use your divine intent to communicate?”
Bai Ling anxiously asked a series of questions.
“Yes… Stop… talking nonsense… I’m really tired… really, really tired… Let me… rest for a while…” An Lin used his divine intent to reply to Bai Ling’s questions. His speech was slurred and choppy, and it was clear that it was extremely difficult for him to communicate right now. He sounded like a speaker that had run out of power.
“Oh, okay. Leave it to me,” Bai Ling chuckled and said. “An Lin, your technique was indeed extremely terrifying. However, its after-effects seem to be a bit too severe. Is it the Three Second True Man Technique?
“No, that’s not right. It should be the One Second True Man Technique. You only lasted one second just then.” Bai Ling pondered for a moment before correcting herself.
An Lin: “…
“Big Sister Bai… I feel like… I can still be saved… Are you really going to… keep talking nonsense… and tire me to death…?” An Lin was on the verge of tears. He could feel his life force draining away, yet he was completely unable to move.
Bai Ling stamped her feet as she carried An Lin’s body on her shoulder.
The space around them instantly distorted and transformed.
In the blink of an eye, they had already arrived in a gigantic laboratory.
Thump!
Bai Ling tossed An Lin into a tank of oily-green nutrition solution.
An Lin instantly felt a large amount of energy-rich liquid flow into his body. It nourished every inch of his body, and even his divine sense was healed at an extremely rapid speed.
A pitch-black pen that was pinched between Bai Ling’s slender fingers speedily danced across a piece of paper. Bai Ling adjusted her glasses and said, “Although the power of your technique was outrageous, it instantly emptied your body of all its blood essence and emptied your sea of vital energy of all its energy. Even the power of your divine sense was completely emptied…

“In other words, unleashing that technique required you to expend every last drop of power in your body. Once your body was emptied of all its power, the vitality of your cells would be plunged into a state of dormancy. Thus, you successfully entered a state of suspended animation. You were only able to maintain your consciousness thanks to the powerful nature of your divine sense!”
As An Lin listened to Bai Ling’s analysis, he thought back to the first time that he had used the Origin Energy of the Netherworld. Back then, it was also very common for his body to be emptied of all its energy.
“However, there’s something else that’s very interesting. This mystic technique, which drains all of your energy in an instant, surprisingly doesn’t have any side effects. In fact, it has caused absolutely no damage to your body. This has genuinely left me stumped.”
There was a glimmer of excitement in Bai Ling’s eyes as she spoke.
An Lin was feeling extremely pleased with himself. Of course! This is a high-rank God of War Mystic Technique! It’s the highest rank mystic technique that the system has ever given me! Even the Six Strikes of the War God was only an intermediate-rank God of War Spell Technique. Thus, it’s only natural that this mystic technique is super-badass.
So what if I’m a One Second True Man?
Even if it’s only one second, that’s still more than enough time for me to conquer all those b*tches out there!
Just as An Lin was thinking about this, he suddenly felt as if his entire body were being lightly caressed by countless pairs of hands. Some of the oily-green liquid even transformed into thin trickles that surged into his body through the pores in his skin.
“This… Bai Ling… what are you… trying to do…?”
An Lin used his divine intent to scream in fright.
“Nothing much. I’m just treating your wounds…” Bai Ling’s breathing quickened in excitement.
An Lin’s eyes widened in shock. Looking through the glass tank, he could see Bai Ling’s extremely excited face. Her expression was as if she had just received a sample that she had wanted to study for a long time. She was completely unable to contain her excitement, and it was clear that she wanted to probe him extremely thoroughly…
“Be a good boy and accept your treatment, An Lin…” A pure and beautiful smile stretched across Bai Ling’s face.

“S-stop… Don’t…
“Ahhh…!”
The humiliated cry of a male echoed around the Purple Star Research Institute.
…
Outside the Four Nine Immortal Sect…
Xu Xiaolan, who was wearing a jade dress, lightly walked across the void and stood before the incredibly gigantic fissure in the earth.
“This isn’t simply a fissure anymore. An Lin has carved out an abyss…” Xuanyuan Cheng, who was standing beside Xu Xiaolan, gasped in surprise.
Xu Xiaolan’s eyes became a pure gold color. True Dragons swam within them, and Vermilion Birds soared throughout them. It was as if she could see the end of this fissure that seemed to stretch an infinite length into the distance.
“An Lin’s sword strike cut all the way from the Realm of the Fallen Phoenix to the Purple Star Ruins,” Xu Xiaolan said.
Xuanyuan Cheng: “…”
This attacking range was already beyond what words could describe.
“That’s right, how is An Lin doing right now?” Xuanyuan Cheng asked.
Xu Xiaolan smiled faintly and replied, “An Lin’s a bit feeble after using his mystic technique. However, Bai Ling said she’ll nurse him back to full health. Although we’re temporarily unable to visit him, I’m sure that he’s in good hands. After all, Bai Ling is extremely earnest and responsible.”
…
Five days later…
An Lin walked out of Bai Ling’s laboratory.
Looking up at the warm sun in the sky, he felt as if his experiences during these past few days were like an illusory dream.
At the start, he had felt extremely unhappy and even tried to reject her methods.
After a while, however, he started to find that kind of feeling particularly comfortable and stimulating.
The adaptive ability of humans was truly terrifying.
“An Lin, you’re welcome to my laboratory at any time,” Bai Ling smiled and said.
An Lin shuddered and fled in disarray.
Anyhow, he had finally mastered the Dark Immortal Transformation and understood its unique characteristics. This test run was well worth the pain. If he came across emergency situations in the future, he could use this technique as a super-powerful trump card.
“An Lin, are you feeling okay now?”
There was a happy smile on Xu Xiaolan’s face as she walked through the void toward him.
“Ah… M-hm… I’m feeling fine now,” An Lin nodded and said.
He felt a sense of shame every time he thought back to what he had experienced during those five days.
“Oh, that’s right. Principal Wang came to look for you. He’s already been waiting for four days, and he’s at our sect’s drill ground right now.” Xu Xiaolan suddenly recalled this matter and told it to An Lin.
“Principal Wang came to look for me?” An Lin was a little surprised.
He felt a bit weird as he recalled the image of the bubble-blowing principal.
“Principal Wang probably wants to discuss his whale body with you,” Xu Xiaolan speculated.
“It’s already been over one hundred years! He still hasn’t resolved his whale body yet? Doesn’t he just need a divine pill?” An Lin was astounded.
Xu Xiaolan rubbed her brows. “You think everyone makes money as quickly as you do?”
There was a look of incredulity on An Lin’s face as he flew toward the Four Nine Immortal Sect’s dao plaza.
…
On a gigantic dao plaza…
Numerous sect disciples were gathered nearby to look at the whale. Some were pointing and commenting, while others couldn’t help but chuckle. A significant portion of them had graduated from The United University of Cultivation, so they were quite familiar with this principal. Upon seeing their principal’s current appearance, however, they still couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
The reason for this was simple—Principal Wang’s appearance had become even more bizarre!
Although Wang Xianyu still had the appearance of a Kun Peng, his body had shrunk significantly compared to before. He had become a little whale that measured around ten feet in size. Other than that, his external appearance still remained the same—a pitch-black body, four small legs that glided through the void, and a pair of large round eyes. Right now, he was blowing bubbles in boredom.
As for why the disciples found Wang Xianyu’s appearance bizarre, it was all because of his peculiar head. Right now, his head had become extremely big. Initially, Wang Xianyu’s body had been that of a sleek whale. Now, however, it was as if his head had been pumped full of air. In fact, it had expanded into the shape of a giant watermelon! It looked extremely ridiculous.
“Sigh… this is giving me a massive headache.”
Wang Xianyu sighed in a voice that sounded extremely young and childish.

NOVA INTERIT.US
It's 2063, and the town along with much of the nation are in disarray. The decay started years before the Great Event. Our town still had hope thanks to the five families, who'd created a blockchain based water distribution system for the locals, a valuable secret hidden from the Global Water Commission and their network of mercenaries. Earlier in the mid-2040's, right after the state secessions of Idaho, Montana, and Texas, the Global Council of Water Commissioners made their deals and moved into towns throughout the country. They called it "the integration." The Commission and their contractors integrated with municipal water departments, using their organized network to invade like parasites on local services. It all coincided with the 29th Amendment to the United States Constitution, later referred to as the Regional Trident Plan. Nova is a story about survival, power structures, the turning of relationships, and the networking between people and the systems to which they belong. It’s about A.I. blockchain possibility, and its potential for human betterment versus our detriment. It’s about the question of whether or not we need to be saved from ourselves, and by who or what? The Great Event at the end of the first chapter might just be what actually saves us. The epilogue will take place in 2517. This scene is fully sketched and the full arc of the novel is set. I expect to finish Nova Interitus by summer of 2023. This is realist hard-sci-fi dystopian fiction. I hope you find Nova to be a challenging and consuming story. This is not something I planned to write. It all came to me in a dream and I haven't been able to stop writing it. This Royal Road posting is basically a beta test with chapters and drafts to get some feedback and see if there's any readership for this narrative. For the full experience read Nova on Substack. I will be narrating a podcast version later this year there. https://novainteritus.substack.com/

His mind plunges, but alas, this creates an opportunity for him to close the distance between him and his mother, a chance to seize the motherly love he’s yearned for the first time in his life. But that hope would be trampled over as he finally meets the ghost of a man forged from his own sin. He struggles to stay sane as the revenge-driven father seeks to mentally break him down. Jared fights the demon he created, David Cennet, and amidst the hardships, still tries to keep his sense of morals intact despite his growing inclination to disregard them. PS: I've yet to properly proofread this one (when do I ever?) but I figured I'd upload it and maybe get some feedback in the mean time as I'm more focused on other stories and excessive drinking. Enjoy!I've begun writing the sequel!Check out my edgelord novel!
