Divine Emperor Of Death Chapter 588

"But I'll shorten it for you..." Travis self-deprecatingly laughed.
"It's a story of a rather stubborn man who continuously challenged a rather kind Magical Beast... just because he felt humiliated. In the end, he lost one of his eyes and two arms, reduced to a disabled cultivator."
"His cultivation dropped from the initial Low-Level of Law Dominion Stage and dropped to the Law Manifestation Stage..."
"Now, he's scared to enter the inner zone and tries to survive by selling information." Travis pursed his lips and lifted his brows, "That man is none other than me!"
"May I know who you two are?"
"So you could sell the information to others?" Davis rested his chin on his palm.
As for Travis's story, it was common as the clouds. However, the kind Magical Beast did indeed invoke his curiosity but he chose to pay it no heed.
Travis awkwardly chuckled, "My intentions have been found out! From this, I can tell Mister is rather experienced with these situations, not at all someone who grew up in home till now, deciding to test his might in the Magical Beast Mountains."
Davis laughed, "Your tone says that you have successfully swindled such people before, no?"
Travis's smile froze and he no longer continued with the topic. Instead, he changed his tone to one of professionalism.
"Information relating to Sky Grade Magical Beasts will cost anywhere from 10 Low-Level Spirit Stones to 100,000 Low-Level Spirit Stones depending upon the strength, prowess, grade, species of the Magical Beast."
Davis could understand why Travis had specifically mentioned Sky Grade Magical Beasts instead of lower grade or higher grade Magical Beasts. It was because the other party had recognized them to be at the Sixth Stage.
The Sixth Stage's strength is graded from High-Level Sky Grade to Peak-Level Sky Grade after all.
"What about ingredients and other such treasures?"
Travis wryly smiled, "With my skills and knowledge, I only know about tracking Magical Beasts to their territory. If mister wants, I can recommend you two to a mercenary group who has a person skilled in finding ingredients..."

"Of course, it also costs about 1,000 Low-Level Spirit Stones. As for whether that mer..."
"No need..." Davis shook his head and interrupted.
He asked, "Do you know why this mountain was named Sunset Tear Magical Beast Mountain? Is it because of the mysterious effect that makes us sad, ultimately making us cry?"
Davis became curious about this mysterious power that made him sad and made Evelynn cry. He was sure that something in the mountains had influenced them at that time.
"Almost everybody knows of this phenomenon, so I can explain it but they don't know why, but I know of it."
Travis proudly inclined his head, "It'll cost you 100 Low-Level Spirit Stones but as a token of my sincerity, I'll explain it to mister for free..."
He smiled pitiably as if he was making a concession and explained, "This phenomenon that makes others sad, ultimately making them cry if the sadness heavily influenced them during the time of sunset is called Sunset Tears, hence, the Magical Beast Mountain is called Sunset Tear Magical Beast Mountain by us humans."
"There are millions of vines on sides of the mountains that give off a luminescent glow when met with the rays of the sunset. At that time, when someone sees the glow of the vines that illuminates the entire mountain during sunset, they start to feel sad and cry regardless if they were even the most ruthless person in the world."
"As long as they possess sadness, it is not impossible for them to cry."
"Other than the Law Sea Stage Experts who can directly ignore this phenomenon, it is rumored that only a Soul Forging Cultivator who is at the Sixth Stage can withstand this phenomenon."
'So this phenomenon directly affects the soul then?'
...Davis blinked but didn't say anything. On one hand, he now knew why the phenomenon didn't affect him much and on the other hand, he understood that people here were mostly ignorant about the stages in Soul Forging Cultivation and even Body Tempering Cultivation.

In the Ethren Empire, common people didn't know much about Body Tempering Cultivation and Soul Forging Cultivation. They only knew about Essence Gathering Cultivation until the Eighth Stage as common knowledge since it was the most used Cultivation System.
Davis hummed, "Mhm... What are those vines then?"
"This... I don't know. The vines travel all deep into the mountain and the mountain's quality which is at the High-Level Sky Grade, naturally restricts our soul senses, disabling us from probing the vines."
"I see..."
Davis didn't have much of a reaction but he inwardly developed an interest over these vines. He felt that he should definitely look into it if he had the chance.
"Alright then, give me information over the dangerous zones that should be avoided."
"That would be 50,000 Low-Level Spirit Stones." Travis's eyes lit up as he felt that this would be a huge haul.
Davis didn't barter at all and nodded his head, to which, Travis patiently and detailedly explained the structure of the mountainous region which also had forests overlaying a few parts of the mountain.
Then he brought a small parchment out which looked like a map and marked some territories which should not be intruder upon. Those were such large circles in the small map which made Davis really thankful that this person approached him.
Otherwise, there's a chance that he would have walked into a Seventh Stage Magical Beast's territory while training with Evelynn during this time.
"Other than these circles, mister better not head into the core regions that had already been marked as it is seething with Sixth Stage Magical Beasts, not to mention Seventh Stage Magical Beasts that are commanded by Eighth Stage Magical Beasts."
"Also, there's a chance that the territory might have expanded, so be cautious when you're near the circles."
Davis nodded his head and took the small map into his spatial ring.
He then asked, "How tall is the highest peak of the mountain?"
"10 Low-Level Spirit Stones... The highest peak is at the mountain near the coast of the ocean. Its elevation is at 9,000 kilometers above our level."
Davis's lips twitched.
"Do you need anything else?" Travis asked
Davis was going to ask if someone had reached the peak but decided against it.
"Nothing... But with how you are, don't you think that you will be robbed instead?" He curiously asked.
"Don't tell me you're going to renege on your words?" Travis's face changed as he became taken aback, thinking that the other party is not going to give him wealth.
Since he was the one who approached them, it became a necessity for him to provide information first and then receive the wealth for it.
"No, I'm just curious..." Davis shrugged.
Travis heaved a visible sigh of relief and wryly chuckled, "I receive protection from the guards but I have to pay ten percent of my monthly commission to them."
"So that's how it is..." Davis nodded his head and was about to take out all those Spirit Stones on the table but Travis quickly understood his previous questioning and took him to an inconspicuous place to exchange hand off the Spirit Stones.
At that time, Travis told him a specific warning to be extremely wary about because Davis had fulfilled the requirement to meet that danger. In any case, it was just a word of warning filled with good intentions due to the trade, so Davis took it to heart as he felt that the warning should be genuine.
After that one last warning informed specifically to Davis, Travis left while Davis and Evelynn returned to the inn to rest for the night.

This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Right as Rage
Only 15 years have passed since the miscreant god, Villi, stole magic from the gods and gave it to mortals. In response the mortals seem to be doing their best to squander this gift. The Kingdom of Abrune regulates it, the church of the Sacred Hierarchies outright condemns it, but one 'wildman' from across the sea begins his journey after being cursed by it. Vakdragnar's curse manifests when he loses his temper. It has driven everyone he’s ever cared about away from him. Out of options and money, he travels to the city of Tirough and quickly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He is persecuted despite his intentions to do good. How can you stand against evil if everyone you’re trying to protect thinks you’re the villain? And if this curse is truly a part of him now, what if they’re right? **************************************************************************************************** Right as Rage is a story I’ve been excited to write for some time now. I hope everyone is as excited to read it. This story is going to be told over several arcs, with each arc containing 7-12 chapters, and an interlude or two each. I plan on submitting new chapters once a week on Tuesday evenings.
