Divine Emperor Of Death Chapter 589

The sun rose up the horizon and shrouded the mountains in the light of dawn. The illumination of the mountains under the glory of sunlight reflected in the eyes of the people who were witnessing as a part of their routine to mark the start of the next day.
Davis stood watching the mountains with his eyes, however, he didn't feel anything like sad or wanted to let out tears of sadness like Evelynn before.
'Looks like it really is a phenomenon that occurs only when the light of dusk rains upon the mountains... Mhm...'
After a few minutes of preparation, they left towards the foot of the mountain as they exited the gate of the fortified town.
The scenery in front of them became a little bit filled with greenery as grass, weeds filled their kind of sight below. The trees which were more than fifty meters tall were world sparsely populated and those trees which were above fifty meters only existed a few.
Even then, the trees made such humongous shadows that blotted the bright greenery into a dark forest. The scenery in front of them slowly turned a little dark from the shadows, and only when they would reach the foot of the mountains would the area be showered with sunlight.
In any case, the dark wasn't something cultivators feared off unless it psychologically impacted them.
In a few minutes, they reached the foot of the mountain as they flew, their feet just a few meters above the ground. Their silhouettes flashed past the trees which were slowly becoming a little populated but also shortened in height.
The surface started to elevate as it led to the mountains.
Davis and Evelynn looked up and saw that the peak of the mountain stretched in front of them to sixty kilometers in height, even then, they didn't spot any Magical Beasts till now. It was as if the side facing them belonged to humans.

There were some human silhouettes but Davis would have to check if they were humans or Magical Beasts when he neared them. He looked as if he wasn't interested, instead, he and Evelynn flew vertically and made their way to the top.
Their ascendance just started but Davis raised his brows at her in a challenging glint and looked towards the mountains. Then he flew above at an even faster speed.
Evelynn became startled for just a moment before she realized his intent. A smile instantly blossomed on her lips and she quickly shot towards him, trying to catch up.
"No fair!" Evelynn echoed since he had already gained distance between them.
Davis laughed and didn't heed her voice at all. Instead, he flew with even greater speed, leaving her behind.
Sixty kilometers...
Their Law Seed Stage Cultivation let them travel in 400 meters per second, hence, their flying speed allowed them to reach the visible peak of the mountain in three short minutes.
Davis waited for her over the top for twenty seconds before she finally caught up to him. Her dancing green robes finally stopped fluttering.
Evelynn made a pout and stared at him with an aggrieved emotion in her eyes, "You left me behind!"
"Indeed, I am going to leave you behind!"
Davis's smile disappeared, replaced with a solemn look.
Evelynn blinked as she became taken aback, not knowing how to respond. Her heartfelt suddenly stifled that he would utter words like these to her.
"W-What happened?" She couldn't help but ask hesitantly.
She was just acting aggrieved and did not take it to heart even when he shot to the peak without her.
'There was no need to be like that, right?' She felt slightly sad.
"We've come here to train, not sightsee! So you better not be your usual self in this place! You got it!?" Davis strongly stated.
Evelynn became taken aback as her lips quivered. It took her a moment for the changes in her expression to disappear, replaced with a determined look....

"... Yes..." She meekly replied.
"Can't hear you!"
"Yes!" Evelynn shouted.
Davis looked as if he were satisfied with her shout.
"I'll give you your first task right now. Survive in this mountain range for a few days and then perhaps, I will come back to reward you!"
"As for me, I'll be heading deep into the mountains to hunt Magical Beasts."
Davis didn't wait for her to reply once he finished his speech. He hid the soul mark she placed on him with his Dark Concealing Shroud Art and shot towards the mountain range and headed towards to the inner region.
As for Evelynn, she realized that the soul mark she had placed on him had become unable to be detected. She was left with a blank face as if she could really believe that just left.
She began to think that she was supposed to survive in the outer region as per his order.
She subconsciously lifted her hands, wanting to stop him, however, she resisted the urge to call him back.
The sad smile on her face changed into one of a pitiful smile, 'Perhaps he finally realized that you're useless and holding him back? Isn't that right, Evelynn?'
She bit her lips as she suddenly felt like sobbing. She pursed her lips and looked underneath before her gaze moved behind. She saw the fortified town and turned her head away from it as the mountains came into her view once again.
Yesterday, this mountain had made her cry and now, her mountain, her pillar had made her almost cry. She definitely did not feel good, and in response to her mood turning worse, her mind automatically acted on other things.
She floated forwards the cliff and stood on the grassy mountains. She concentrated her gaze to the distance and saw that her husband had already disappeared.
'He really left...' Evelynn heaved a rather stifled sigh.
Perhaps, somewhere in her heart, she felt that he was just pranking her but now, it didn't seem like the case.
She patted her heart and consoled herself, 'Evelynn, you definitely knew this day would come sooner or later. Why are you acting as if all is lost? He just went to train and doesn't want a burden to hold him back, so he left you in the fringes of the Sunset Tear Magical Beast Mountain where the danger is relatively low.'
Evelynn nodded her head to her reasoning and continued to walk on the grassy plains. She looked by the side and saw a small Magical Beast was looking at her with curious eyes.
It looked like an adorable wolf, managing to garner Evelynn's attention.
And above the little wolf was a Magical Beast that looked like its parent.
Suddenly, numerous wolves emerged from the side but none dared to make a move, just staying by the tree or hiding behind trees and bushes.
She paid those Magical Beasts no heed and continued walking because she realized that the strongest Magical Beast in this pack of wolves was just a Peak-Level Sky Beast Stage Magical Beast, incapable of harming her.
This sudden intrusion only managed to distract her thoughts of Davis for a few seconds.
She abruptly had a thought, 'Could it be that he left you so you won't get harmed in the inner regions? Yes! That must be it!'
'But then why didn't he just say so?'
Evelynn reasoned in her mind and arrived at a conclusion.
'You probably wouldn't have listened to him and instead pestered him to take you with him, so he considered this beforehand and just left you behind while giving you a task to survive....'

Same Crap, Different World
A young man from early 21st century wakes up in a different world. This world is like a typical setting of an fantasy isekai novel. But it is also not. There is magic, alchemy, magical creatures, different non-human races, peasants and nobles, demons and dragons. But there is also politics, persecution, supremacism of every kind, entitlement, slavery and other unpleasant human tendencies. In short, this new world does not differ much from his old one. However, besides him, there may be others who have made such a strange trip, and awakened into this new world. There certainly have been others, in the past. But more than people and other living things, there have been items. All sorts of items, which are regarded as otherworldly artifacts with unknown danger and power. And he himself is an artifact as well, albeit a living one. Therefore he has use for the powers that be. He is also given a role and expectations to fulfill, to hide his real value. And in all that he still has to make sense of what has happened, what is happening, and find a way back, if possible. Author's note: I write this project mostly in (except chapter 1) in 60-100 page (40,000-70,000 word) chapters, edit them as such and later cut them down for publishing into 7-11 page segments (depending on natural breaks in the flow). Therefore, each chapter may be divided into 10-15 subchapters.
