I Am A Prodigy Chapter 314

"Little Brother Ye, you seem really young. Are you still a student?" Sergeant Gao asked.
"Capital University, language department," Ye Lingchen replied. It was no big secret.
'He's really a student!'
Sergeant Gao and the gang were taken aback, and at the same time mildly surprised that he was a student at Capital University. It was considered high achieving to be in that school.
"Capital University? You bought your way in right!?" Li Hu scoffed disdainfully.
He had already equated Ye Lingchen to a rich kid. If one were to say that Ye Lingchen got in based on his results, he would never believe that person.
"Li Hu, you're not allowed to speak from now on!" Sergeant Gao scowled. At first, he wanted to find out more about Ye Lingchen, but when he noticed Ye Lingchen being so young, he lost most of his interest. "Brother Ye, our mission this time is rather special. There are risks of endangering your life. Are you sure you want to come along?"
"That's fine. I'm Xu Nan's master. If it's dangerous, all the more reason for me to tag along," Ye Lingchen said with a smile.
Those words brought a frown to everyone's faces. No matter how they saw it, they sounded like tricks a playboy would use to captivate a woman's heart.
Seeing the smile on Xu Nan's face, their hearts turned cold. Mixed feelings of anger and disappointment welled up within them. What a detestable rich kid with flowery words!
"If that's the case, then come along," Sergeant Gao stated coolly, then led the way.
Li Hu and the rest immediately followed behind. Ye Lingchen and Xu Nan were situated right at the back of the line.
"Sergeant Gao, why won't you let me expose that twerp?" Li Hu was frustrated. "I'm having a headache just from watching that gigolo sweet talk!"
"If we expose him on the spot, wouldn't that make Xu Nan feel bad?" Sergeant Gao shook his head. "It would seem that Xu Nan is too deeply engrossed at the moment. It's better that we settle this matter slowly. Furthermore, our mission comes first. It's better not to have Xu Nan suffer from emotional turmoil. We'll have more chances in the future."

"Sigh, that's all we can do." Li Hu stole a glance backward. Seeing Xu Nan and Ye Lingchen chattering happily, anger welled up from inside him again. " You guys go on first. I'll stay back and be their third wheel!"
"Master, this mission is related to Earth's Gate. They're well known internationally and are extremely dangerous. You better be mentally prepared," Xu Nan explained.
"Earth's Gate?" Ye Lingchen's brows twitched. 'Wasn't Earth's Gate under the Warrior's Association's scrutiny?'
"Yup, it's Earth's Gate." Xu Nan thought that Ye Lingchen knew nothing about Earth's Gate, so she elaborated, "This is an organization of the Sun Nation where martial artists interact with each other. It's somewhat similar to our country's Warrior's Association. Those that joined Earth's Gate are all pretty strong. Their prowess is on par with the Warrior's Association."
Xu Nan's voice carried a certain severity. As a police officer, she was quite capable. However, when compared to a martial artist, she was still lacking. As the saying goes, heroes break the rules using martial arts. Martial artists were like beasts out of a cage; their threat levels were difficult to measure.
"Some time ago, we caught some people and finally learned of their stronghold." Xu Nan paused for a moment, then smiled at Ye Lingchen as she continued, "You won't be able to guess how I caught those people."
"Hm?" Ye Lingchen looked at Xu Nan funnily, but he already had some speculations in his heart.
"It's because of Superman Y!" Xu Nan was a little excited. "I heard from those at the scene that Superman Y managed to dodge bullets. That's just too amazing! I've heard of many deeds by Superman Y, but I never expected them to be real. It's too bad I couldn't see it with my own eyes."
"Kid, did you hear that? The opponents have firearms. It's not too late to leave now!" Right then, a rough grumbling voice interjected as Li Hu approached them, looking at Ye Lingchen mockingly.

"Your mission this time is just to check out the reliability right?" Ye Lingchen smiled faintly, then stated, "Up against Earth's Gate, the few of you are not enough. Furthermore, you guys are wearing casual clothing, obviously for the ease of staying hidden."
"That's some decent observation!" Li Hu gave Ye Lingchen a weird look.
However, Ye Lingchen shook his head and continued, "Nonetheless, you guys are too naive."
Ye Lingchen was familiar with how the Earth's Gate operated. Their methods were vicious and they were strong, way beyond the imaginations of the common folks.
"What do you mean?" Li Hu's expression turned serious. He started off on the wrong foot with Ye Lingchen. Hearing his words dripped in sarcasm, his temper was close to blowing up.
It was like a tiger watching a cat act tough in front of it.
"Earth's Gate is not as simple as you guys imagine it to be. You should notify the Warrior's Department," Ye Lingchen continued his explanation, ignoring Li Hu's response.
"Act, you keep that act up!" Li Hu sneered, putting on an expression as though he had seen through everything. "Kid, no wonder you managed to trick Xu Nan. Your boasting skills are quite amazing! Just who do you think you are to talk about such serious matters?"
"However, it's fine since Xu Nan called me over. With this, the situation is still salvageable." Ye Lingchen could not be bothered with Li Hu as he continued on.
"F*ck!"
Li Hu bellowed, feeling as though he just ate poop. It was not something he could bear with any longer. "Kid, if you continue to boast like that, I won't let you off easy!"
"Uncle Li, what are you doing?" Xu Nan asked immediately.
Sergeant Gao and the rest came by as well. Li Hu had just barely joined Ye Lingchen. They did not expect conflict to break out so soon. "Li Hu, calm down. What are you doing?"
"Sergeant Gao, this kid is a braggart. He's just too good at boasting. I can't stand him anymore!" Li Hu's face was scarlet and his entire body was shaking. "Boasting is a crime, isn't it? I want to arrest this kid!"
"That's enough! Boasting is not a crime!" Sergeant Gao glared at Li Hu, lecturing him sternly. "This is an abuse of your power. Give it a rest!"
Li Hu felt helpless. His eyes still locked onto Ye Lingchen, just to see him shrug and stated flippantly, "Luckily, being handsome is not a crime. Otherwise, I'll be in big trouble."
"F*ck!"
Li Hu almost jumped at him. His entire body was at the edge of control. "You guys better not stop me. I'll go down together with this braggart!"
Finally, Li Hu was forced to the front by the group, staying far away from Ye Lingchen.
"Master, is Earth's Gate really as powerful as you've said?" Xu Nan could not resist asking.
Ye Lingchen nodded. "You can't evaluate a martial artist like you would a normal person. You calling me along this time is the right choice."
Xu Nan nodded, still feeling a little blur. "But we're only doing a recon mission to check the validity of the testimony. It should not be too much of a problem."
"How did you get your info?" Ye Lingchen asked.
"From the interrogation, this is the spot given in their testimony. They corroborated perfectly."
Ye Lingchen instead shook his head. "Normally, places like these are top secret. How did you pry it out of them that easily?"
With Ye Lingchen's words, Xu Nan's eyes widened as she experienced an epiphany.
'That's right. This is too weird. The interrogation process was quite smooth…'

Dungeon Scholar
Girl meets dungeon. What could go right? A story of a good-hearted Scholar driven by her compassion and curiosity. She might be a little combat averse, but um, isn't that only logical? Love me a good grimdark, but sometimes I want to read feel-good fiction that isn't pure action, romance, or comedy. The plot and characters of Dungeon Scholar won't be all happy and fluffy, and the world will be more dungeons and monsters than rainbows and puppies, but overall the sweet moments should overshadow the bitter. Let's say three dollops of sugar for every pinch of salt, with lemon slices left on the saucers? Enjoy. Note: This is NOT a typical dungeon story. If you are here for the dungeon aspect, then fair warning this will seem incredibly slow-burn to you. The dungeon will eventually become the most important 'character,' arguably, or the second-most important narratively, but you might jump out the window in frustration long before that happens. At its heart, the story's core remains 'girl meets dungeon,' not 'dungeon meets world.' (To be clear, this does or will have a plot! It's just the more conventional story-like elements contribute to Rowena Loress's greater story, not the other way around; no conflict takes center stage until it becomes personally significant to her. Meanwhile, have some Slice of Life.) Updates every Friday Cover made using Waifulabs Written using 4thewords (referral code: UZJRY55368)
