I Am A Prodigy Chapter 351

As the sharks closed in, everyone was on edge. They held in their urge to shout with tear-filled eyes. Some of them even forgot to breathe.
The eight fins looked like a grim reaper's scythe, cutting through the surface of the sea as it approached them.
Right then, Ye Lingchen silently raised his oars. It parted the water on the surface, causing his kayak to zoom forward at a high speed without making a sound.
He was extremely quick. By the time everyone realized it, he was already over a hundred meters away and still going.
The group's pupils shrunk immediately, their faces turned ashen.
'He...ran away?!'
'T-t-this…'
All of them went from disbelief to anger, despair, then finally gave up altogether. In their hearts, countless curses were hurled at Ye Lingchen.
Between them, Ye Lingchen was the best at rowing and was capable of escaping on his own. They did not expect him to really ditch them and paddle away like that.
[F*ck! Unbelievable! I didn't expect Y to be such a person! Everyone cares for themselves in the face of danger.]
[Motherf*cker! What a coward to run away like that! Trash! Scumbag!]
[Hehe, keeping that facade all this while. It takes a moment of peril to show a person's true heart!]
[To be fair, Y was already doing his best. He warned everyone right at the start and only ran away at the last moment. There's nothing he could do!]
[That's right. You expect him to fight with the sharks? That's just suicidal!]
[Although I am quite disappointed as well, would those "saints" please shut up. Everyone has the right to survival!]
…
"Y, you…" Chen Xiaoyan looked at Ye Lingchen through her tear-filled eyes in disbelief. She was shocked by Ye Lingchen's choice to ditch his companions.

"How is it? Are you disappointed?" Ye Lingchen quietly with a calm voice.
Chen Xiaoyan let out a sigh of relief, then looked at Ye Lingchen emotionally before saying with a sigh, "Y, you're doing this for me right?"
"Huh?" Ye Lingchen was unable to follow her train of thought.
"You're only ditching them to let me live, willingly bearing the sin of betraying your companions for me!" Chen Xiaoyan stared straight at Ye Lingchen. "There's no need for you to sacrifice your reputation just to save me. I won't be happy with that. I'm willing to die with you!"
"After you saved me, will you kill yourself to make up for their lives lost, using that to calm down the heated debate?" Chen Xiaoyan drifted off in her imagination, her tears pouring forward. "If you died, I won't bother living on."
Ye Lingchen shook his head with a bitter laugh. "Cough cough. With your thought process, why are you still a singer? You should have been an author for romance novels."
While he paddled with the oars, he was looking for something on the ocean surface.
At the same time, he could feel something weird on the ocean surface. The swiftly swimming sharks suddenly slowed down. Following that, they ignored the fishes and closed in on the kayaks instead, slowly surrounding the group's kayaks in the middle.
[F*ck! They can't be that unlucky right?!]
[The kayaks grouping together attracted the sharks' attention!]
[Oh no, it's the end. This is a hopeless situation. How are they going to escape in the sea?]
[Where's the miracle? Will it appear? Will Superman Y appear?]
[Previous post, please don't be stupid. Do you think Superman Y is omnipotent? This is the sea, and it's against sharks!]

"Sob sob sob…"
Little Mo was like a scared kitten. She curled into a ball and muttered to herself as her tears flowed.
"Who's going to save us?" The people from the program team were also wailing in despair. The eight sharks showed no signs of leaving, leaving them in an inescapable situation.
Right then, they had no mood to blame Ye Lingchen's abandonment. Only fear remained.
"Sob sob sob. I have thought of many ways I would die, but I never expect myself to be killed by sharks. Sob sob sob…" cried Arnelle as she complained.
Perhaps it was the commotion that drew the sharks' attention. Two sharks steered off slightly and slowly headed towards them.
Under the calm surface of the sea, they could even see the outline of the shark. It was a huge shadow that was twice the size of the kayak.
Terror and helplessness!
Arnelle was stricken with terror. Right then, she was hoping against hope that a prince would come to her rescue. However, that was unrealistic.
She could not help but remember Ye Lingchen's capable figure. However, it was followed by a bitter feeling in her heart. How could she still be fantasizing at such a time? Unlike fairy tales, reality was cruel.
Whoosh!
One of the sharks knocked against the kayak, sending a strong tremor through it, shaking on the surface of the sea!
"Ah!" Arnelle and Little Mo screamed at the same time. They could not hold it in any longer and started bawling in despair.
Their reaction triggered the predatory nature of the sharks. All eight sharks started moving more energetically with their mouths open, as though ready to bite onto the kayak the very next instant.
Everyone stopped moving. They could only sit on the kayak and wait helplessly for the arrival of the grim reaper.
However—
Boom, boom, boom!
Right then, a series of smacking sounds came from a distance. It was loud and seemingly rhythmic.
Everyone raised their heads to look, just to find Ye Lingchen smacking the surface of the sea with the oars and taunting loudly, "Hey, come here if you dare!"
'Didn't he...run away? Why is he back?'
For some reason, when they saw Ye Lingchen, their eyes unwittingly started to tear up. Arnelle, who barely escaped death was all the more speechless. She opened her mouth, initially thinking to have Ye Lingchen stop being stupid and run. However, words failed her.
Boom boom boom!
Ye Lingchen's paddling was very rhythmic, apparently following some sort of a pulse, agitating the sharks. As though being taunted, all the sharks swam towards Ye Lingchen together.
A total of eight sharks swam ferociously towards Ye Lingchen. The sight of that was tragic by all measures. Countless people in front of their screens had their sights blurred by tears.
Some of them even raised their hands to give themselves a good slap!
[Singer Y, I sincerely offer my apologies for my earlier misunderstanding. I'm sorry!]
[Singer Y, you're the real hero. A great hero!]
[Sob sob sob. He paddled away intentionally so that he could lure the sharks away. This is so touching.]
[Oh heavens, please bless Singer Y and protect him from harm. I beg of you!]
[What's Singer Y doing? Why is he not escaping? Get away!]
…
The entire network went into a frenzy. At that moment, time had seemingly stopped.
"Are you scared?" Ye Lingchen looked at Chen Xiaoyan.
"I was before, but not anymore," Chen Xiaoyan shook her head with a smile, "because I have a hero beside me!"

Arround him, the era shifts as immense powers struggle and scheme for the world's future. Author's note: This is the first story I'm writting in a coherent manner (I have written a lot of DnD background stories in the past), so bear with me if I make boring or overdescriptive bits: I'll regularly come back to rewrite whichever parts feel unpolished, especially grammatical errors. I would also appreciate any corrections or suggestions.

A high-powered criminal attorney, Karl White is also a flag-waving patriot demanding that his son follow the law.
