I Am A Prodigy Chapter 611

The utility value of tool refinement is extremely high, and his creations—with their amazing uses—were definitely going to sell like hotcakes.
Everyone wore clothes simply for the sake of fashion and style, but Ye Lingchen's had additional uses instead of simply looking good—that in itself was amazing.
However, he was only at the basic level, so the effect was somewhat limited. At most, he could make a simple amulet, but as simple as it may be, it could be considered an invaluable treasure. When worn on one's body, it was more than capable of prolonging one's life.
His luck seemed to be rather good. In that case, he should continue!
Once again, he spent 100,000 in popularity value and sent the golden glow into action.
Ye Lingchen waited quietly.
Ding!
A soft ring later, it finally froze on Russian!
Language, meh...
It was a very mundane, very ordinary skill.
Still, he was curious to know what skills it would upgrade to.
In the next moment, the light flashed and a new language appeared–Cat Language.
'Cat Language (Basic): The ability to understand the language of cats.'
The first thing Ye Lingchen thought of was Little White. Logically speaking, tigers were also a member of the cat family.
After getting a kick out of the lucky draws, Ye Lingchen fell into a deep and blissful sleep.
The next day, he opened his eyes at five in the morning and was full of energy.
With his current physique, his energy had fully been replenished after only sleeping for three or four hours.
He surmised that he would not need to sleep at all once he had successfully completed cultivation and detached himself from the world's tethers.
Ye Lingchen made sure not to disturb anyone as he left the house. Taking in a deep breath of the countryside air, he started his habitual morning jog along the rural road.
The countryside was exceptionally quiet in the wee hours of morning. Every house was built as a two- or three-story villa. There were no tall buildings and no overpasses extending in every direction. Green trees, grass, and small rivers formed a scene that contrasted starkly with that of the city.
"You're up early, Little Ye."
"You're early too, Aunt Li."

"There aren't many young folks like you who wake up so early. "
"You woke up even earlier, didn't you, Aunt Li? It's barely the start of the new year and you're already so busy."
"Hahaha, what else could I be doing? I'm rushing to make sure everything's ready for today. I'm just about to head to Uncle Zhou's house next door to play some mahjong."
Many of those staying in the countryside were used to getting up early and they all greeted Ye Lingchen cheerfully along the way.
Ye Lingchen jogged all the way out of the village, then came to a remote river.
He began the process of practicing postures following the Eight Extremities Brute Training.
Exhale...
Inhale...
Ye Lingchen controlled his breathing and discovered that he only needed to use half the effort to cultivate, though he was unsure if that was a result of his cultivation skill. It was incredibly easy for him to channel heaven and earth's spiritual energy in order to temper his body.
According to the knowledge recorded in his mind, the advancement of the Eight Extremities Brute Training no longer relied solely on one's own body—it leaned more toward receiving assistance from heaven and earth, and to be one with it. It was the pursuit of conditioned dharma which gave rise to accomplishment. Without that conditioned dharma, one would remain stuck for all eternity despite cultivating for a lifetime.
There appeared to be quite a lot of knowledge that complemented each other. In the absence of cultivation, it was absolutely impossible for him to achieve the so-called oneness with heaven and earth from the first try alone.
It was the same with tool refinement and formations. Knowing only one out of the two was awesome enough, but a combination of the two brought it to a whole new level of strength.
Half an hour later, Ye Lingchen's face was flushed and the muscles all over his body were bulging. His figure was twice as bulkier than before, like a fully inflated balloon. Anyone who touched him would realize that his entire body was as hard as steel. It was impossible to even press a dent on him.
The next moment, Ye Lingchen took a deep breath. His body slowly began shrinking and reverted to its original appearance, with his practicing coming to an end.

A sense of wonder was present in his eyes.
He found it surprising that his current physique had already reached its limit after a mere half an hour of cultivation. The muscles in his body had grown to maximum size and it was ill-advisable to proceed with cultivation.
It was imperative to pay particular attention to everything one did. Going too far was as bad as not doing enough, and one could not be too greedy to achieve a result.
Later, he sat cross-legged and commenced the Cultivation breathing technique.
At 7.30 in the morning, he returned home, and his parents had also gotten up by then.
"Son, hurry up and wash your hands. It's time for breakfast," Xu Zhen said with a smile as she busily prepped the food.
"That's right, neighbors and relatives from all around might be coming to visit too, so hurry up and get yourself ready," Ye Jin commented from the side.
"Aren't we supposed to go visit our relatives today? Why are they coming to our house?" Ye Lingchen could not help but wonder.
Xu Zhen's eyes gleamed with pride. "Why else would they be coming here? To see you of course! You're now our village's celebrity. Everyone wants to see you. The kids were so excited when they heard you were coming back, and everyone wants to take photos with you."
"That's a bit troublesome..." Ye Lingchen smiled bitterly and shook his head. Why did he feel as though he was some kind of a rare animal that people near and far came just to have a look?
Nevertheless, if his parents were happy, then he would just go along with their wishes.
"I heard that the leaders of our city are coming over too. Hurry up and get ready." Ye Jin's face was also glowing flush.
Ye Lingchen rolled his eyes. His father had always been a calm and introverted person and he never expected his old man to be so mindful of appearances.
There were already people coming over after breakfast and they were none other than Ye Lingchen's grandparents.
The old couple grinned and had the same proud look on their faces. After all, they could brag to everyone that Ye Lingchen was their grandson and had attended the Spring Festival Gala. That alone was enough to leave most people feeling in awe.
The entire village was polite to them as they made their way to the house. Everyone's expression was full of envy and they had nothing but praise for Ye Lingchen.
The old couple's vanity was greatly satisfied by all that. At their age, everything else was immaterial. The only thing worth talking about was the achievements of their children and grandchildren, for their progeny was the source of all their dignity.
At nine o'clock in the morning, people in the village started paying their visits one after another.
"Little Yi, this is your Big Brother Lingchen. You're always talking about him, right? Well, you must follow his example, do you understand?"
"Hu'zi, you were classmates with Lingchen in high school. Go up and say hi. You should learn more things from him."
"Little Ye, our granddaughter likes you, and she's collected a ton of your postcards. She begged me to bring her here so she could ask for an autograph!"
"Brother Lingchen, I told my classmates that you and I are neighbors but none of them believed me. Could you let me take a photo with you?"
It was undoubtedly the busiest day the Ye family had ever seen. In addition to neighbors, there were also many people who went there specifically for Ye Lingchen. Eventually, the city's leading figures came as well, including the principal of Ye Lingchen's former high school and the leaders of the Education Bureau.
They even brought along media personnel from the city and took a few photos of them shaking hands with Ye Lingchen. They were already planning to launch vigorous promotional campaigns and design big posters for it.
For Rugao City to have a celebrity was no mean feat. Most importantly, Ye Lingchen was the first person in the city to grace the Spring Festival Gala stage, bringing pride to Rugao City in the face of the other surrounding counties and cities.

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.
