I Am A Prodigy Chapter 714

Two hours later, a figure flashed amidst the thick forest and finally came down from above, landing atop a huge tree before making another leap.
Ye Lingchen was going at breakneck speed. That was already the deeper parts of the new district, and the trees were growing ever taller and denser. However, it was also from that point that the trees were thinning out despite the increasing density of spiritual energy up ahead. Some trees were even snapped in half and craters were all over the ground. The area was filled with a chaotic aura.
'This...a battle had probably broken out over here!'
Standing on high ground, Ye Lingchen could make out a wall-like structure further ahead. However, the wall was made using special alloy rather than bricks!
Within the wall were some haphazardly placed buildings. Those were the temporary outposts near the battlefield.
Right then, lights flashed on the walls. Within the battlefield were bright flashes and black clouds of smokes as explosions could be heard.
Before he arrived at the battlefield, he could already feel the horrors within.
Continuing forward, Ye Lingchen saw marks left behind from fights. He grew nervous as he noticed that small but deep holes were everywhere. Moreover the ground was covered in red. He wondered how many people's blood were spilled in order to stain the ground with such a permanent red stain. From that, one could imagine the scenes of the previous battles.
As he neared the fort, the sounds of combat were ear-piercing as killing cries filled the sky.
"Those are the creatures from the Void Realm?"
With one glance, Ye Lingchen saw the creature that looked drastically different from humans.
Although those creatures were bipedal and looked humanoid, their skins were blue in color. Moreover, their noses were thin and long, looking somewhat similar to a goblin. All in all, they closely resembled a particular type of creature in the western movie called Lord of the Rings.
These creatures had a hideous appearance and their eyes were filled with savagery. It was as though they had some great enmity with humans, trying to rip apart any humans they came across.

Moreover, they were not devoid of intelligence. They held weapons and cooperated with each other, seemingly forming small groups. They held onto blades, spears, and some were even firing with ranged weapons from the backlines!
The human Warriors were like enraged berserkers with blood flying out of them every second. The scene was just like a cruel meat grinder where a river of blood flows. Some people had lost their arms, but they still took part in the massacre nevertheless.
Right then, the hair on Ye Lingchen's back stood on end. Without any hesitation, he quickly shuffled backward!
Whoosh!
Almost at the same time, a crossbow bolt brushed past his nose like a bolt of lightning. It missed him by a hair's breadth. He could even feel the cold steel before his nose.
'So fast!'
Ye Lingchen's eyes narrowed as his blood seemed to have gone cold for an instant.
He was seriously spooked. He had barely arrived at the perimeter of the battlefield, but he almost turned into an unfortunate dying soul under an arrow.
Although he had heard of the cruelness of the battlefield and how dangerous it was, he would not have known its full extent without experiencing it personally.
Looking up, he saw a blue skinned creature raising and aimed it at himself!
That creature's body was slender. It appeared to be a female creature from the Void Realm. Huge patches of blue skin were visible with only a few parts being covered by some simple animal hide. Her eyes were locked onto Ye Lingchen like a venomous snake.
Whoosh!
The bolt was shot out faster than a bullet!
'Is that crossbow a weapon of the Void Realm? It's just like a sniper!'
This creature's aura was on par with a peak level Inner Force martial artist. However, with this crossbow, it was able to have such an explosive increase in destructive power. If it were any other regular Innate Stage martial artists in that situation, they might have been easily eliminated in one shot.

Ye Lingchen's body flipped in the air and shifted left to once again evade the lightning-like bolt. He continued to stare at the female creature, but his gaze slowly turned cold.
'Damn it, what do you have against me?'
The female creature's expression was just as solemn as she noticed that Ye Lingchen was quite abnormal. She once again lifted her crossbow. At the same time, she seemed to be muttering something in that area around her. The fighters in the vicinity looked at Ye Lingchen at the same time, their eyes filled with hostility.
"Arhat's Fist Force!"
Ye Lingchen's eyes flashed with a cold gleam as he sent a fist forward!
The fist force rolled toward that female creature in a destructive torrent!
"Modoka!"
The creature's mouth was producing some sort of weird tones. It should be their own language. After that, those fighters gathered around that female creature. Several of those fighters raised their fists and charged at Ye Lingchen.
Boom!
Those creatures were equivalent to peak level Inner Force. When they collided with his fist force, those creatures trembled violently with two of them being sent flying.
Meanwhile, Ye Lingchen had already quickly charged in and had his eyes trained on the female creature, filled with killing intent!
'Am I such an eyesore? Since you insist on getting me, I'll send you to your grave!'
"Naku!" the group of creatures roared, after which they charged at Ye Lingchen. Meanwhile, that female creature was quickly retreating. Her eyes had a vengeful look as she stared at Ye Lingchen while retreating, getting ready for another shot at any given moment!
This type of crossbow was extremely useful in a battlefield. It was like a high powered sniper, extremely vicious. Once she marked her target, even an Innate Stage martial artist would fall. It was a great threat to the human Warriors. For those creatures, that was a heavily protected target.
"Kaku!"
A group of those creatures were screaming that term at the top of their lungs as they rushed at Ye Lingchen with glowing red eyes. That was an easy term to guess, which should be something similar to 'kill'.
"Fools!"
Ye Lingchen's lips curled into a cruel smile. His hands balled up into fists and punched at the two frontmost creatures. The immense power pierced right through their bodies, then sweeping away several creatures behind them in tow. In an instant, death and wounded littered everywhere.
Right at that instant, behind Ye Lingchen, a huge blade swung down right at his head!
On both his sides, creatures were similarly charging at Ye Lingchen with their weapons in hand.
Although he had Eight Extremities Brute Training, he never bothered to entertain the thought of blocking those attacks with his own body. On the battlefield, the slightest mistake would result in death!
He leaped lightly into the air and made a roundhouse kick, sweeping all the creatures around him flying backward. Right at that moment, the female creature once again fired a crossbow bolt at him. The timing was precise, aimed at the instant Ye Lingchen executed his technique. At that moment, he was stuck between two moves. Most importantly, he was hanging in midair.
"Hmph!"
With a light grunt, he crossed his foot. At that critical moment, his body abnormally rose higher, narrowly avoiding that deadly bolt. After that, he once again charged at that female creature.
The distance between them shrunk consistently.
Those creatures in the vicinity had also started to fight without regards for their own safety. One after another, they braved death and charged at Ye Lingchen.
At the same time, there were already other Class-A creatures that noticed Ye Lingchen. With a roar, they disengaged from their opponents and charged at Ye Lingchen!

The two men had come with an invitation, and an offer; which sounded more like a deal with a devil, but was seriously on the up-and-up. A woman wakes up in a forest, naked, alone, and injured. She has nothing but a strange, black dagger and mysterious, floating, blue boxes to aid her. Can she find food and water? Survive the deadly animals? Escape the forest? Learn about the life-altering magic the boxes provide her? She has to use her wits, her knowledge, and maths to do so. But first, baby steps. She doesn't even understand the language, yet. If you see any maths mistakes or strange story decisions, leave a comment and I will either fix it or consider changing it. This is also, essentially, a first draft. That means I will edit older chapters and nothing is final, including numbers. Any major changes are listed in the changelog below each chapter. Since this is a first draft, the start is noticably bad and inconsistent compared to the more recent chapters so you will have to endure that to get to the good stuff. Unwitting Champion
"In stories this is always easy. There's magic and powers, and quick steps to claiming that power for one's self. This doesn't feel true for me. I'm supposed to be a Champion, whatever that means, and yet I don't feel important. I don't have all the bells and whistles, which honestly feels familiar even in a new world. But what was I expecting? I haven't had the worst life - there are people with worse problems than mine - I've known what it is to struggle, to be pulled down instead of being helped up.This is nothing new."When in great peril, the Kingdom of Althor has no choice but to send a call into the void, beseeching the Fates to bring them a man who would save them from the coming darkness. Unfortunately the path the Fates chart is often unknowable to men and the Champion who appears is not what the kingdom expected.Unwitting Champion is a story of a guy displaced, dealing first and foremost with trying to survive in a world where he is no longer a person but a tool, and - at least from the reaction of those around him - a shoddy one at that. His major goal is to survive long enough that either he can run or find a way home, because as exciting as the possibility of learning magic might be, he would rather have a boring life than a short life.
