Soul For A Girlfriend? Chapter 8

I came out of the shower and checked my mobile for any new messages. It was empty. I heard the door of my room open. It was Lilith.
"How was your day at school?"
"As usual."
She nodded and sat on my bed. Laying her head on my pillow and stretched her arms and legs like a cat.
"Where were you?"
"None of your business." There were traces of irritation in her voice.
I shrugged and wore my headphones. I started playing games on my PC. I couldn't care less about what happens to her.
After a round of gaming, I took off my headphones and turned around to see Lilith sound asleep on the bed.
I unplugged my phone from charging to check the time. It was 8.39 pm. I was about to put down my phone and head to the kitchen to prepare dinner, but it vibrated.
It was a text from Tomose. I read it from the notification and decided to reply to it after having dinner. I put my phone on my computer desk and went to prepare dinner.
I knew a lot of recipes since I have been taking care of myself from a very early age. I was preparing rice and curry because it was the easiest to cook.
I finished having my dinner. I headed to my room. I walked up to Lilith and poked her cheeks with my index finger to wake her up.
She woke up and looked at me with a half-open eye.
"Your dinner is on the table. Eat it when you wake up."
She nodded and turned the other way to sleep more comfortably. I went over to the kitchen and put her dinner inside the fridge.
I came back to my room and replied to Tomose's text with a "hi".

I waited for some moments and received her reply.
"What are you up to?"
"Nothing much, just playing games."
"I see."
"You had something on your mind?"
Her status changed to typing for some time. She stopped typing and again it showed her typing.
"No, I just wanted to talk casually." She replied with a smiley emoji at the end.
I replied to her with a sticker. We exchanged texts for about an hour, talking about normal stuff. She went to sleep as she was tired from that karaoke event.
She seemed to be friendly with a person she just started talking to two days ago. That too, because I was staring at her. No solid reason for her to continue talking with me.
Or their entire group is just friendly. I'm over analysing things. I should just go with the flow.
Though I enjoyed talking with her over text.
It was Saturday morning; I woke up late since I was watching anime last night. It was 11 am, and the room was lit with sunlight.
I sat up and looked at Lilith laying on the floor. I think I have to do something about this.
I carried on with my day as usual. I had nothing to do except watch anime.
I closed off the curtains in my room and turned on my PC. The sound of the fans inside the cabinet powering up filled the room.
Lilith was still on the floor. I tried to wake her up, but she didn't. I wanted her to shift to the bed so that I could sit properly.
If I took out the chair and tried to sit comfortably, the chair would hit her in the face.
She didn't respond to me calling her, so I picked her up and placed her on the bed. She was really light compared to her appearance.

Now that she is sleeping, she can't read my mind. Lilith was actually quite attractive and she had an hourglass like figure. Though I wouldn't say much about her boobs, since they were perfect. As she was sleeping on my bed, my eyes gazed over her thighs. Her thighs seem really plump and soft.
Anyways, I don't have time for perverted thoughts. Though, I have time to admire beauty.
Tomose seems like a completely normal girl to me. But Lilith was right. It appears like that from outside. If I'm right about this, then I will keep going with the flow for now.
Though, I have only talked with them for two days and it's shallow of me to judge them already. And last night I had a chat with Tomose.
Albeit, I enjoyed it, it's weird for Tomose to pry so much into my life just because she caught me staring at her. Well, she just made things easy for me.
I can consider myself lucky, but I can't rely on luck in this situation. If things weren't going with the flow, then I would've created my own flow.
"Hey" Lilith's voice broke my chain of thoughts. I looked at her. She was rubbing her eyes with her left arm and her white hair was messy.
"Any new updates?" She yawned.
"Nothing much really. I think you have chosen the wrong person for this."
"I told you, it's the damn contract who chose you, not me." She looked me in the eye, and her fingers were curling into a fist, but they stopped midway.
"Well, then you demon people must be quite dumb." I laughed.
"Yeah, I mean I was the only smart one among them." She with a proud face.
"I doubt that."
"Huh what? Human, know your place."
"Or else?"
She moved closer to me, held my chin, and whispered in my ear. "It won't take me any effort to erase your existence."
I looked at her. She had a sly smile on her face. She opened the door of my room and closed it as she left the room.
I sat there in silence, thinking why I got dragged into this mess. I just want to get over with this contract.
It was 4 pm; I decided to hit the supermarket since I had to buy something. Before leaving my room, I looked at my reflection in the mirror.
My dark brown eyes were gloomy and my messy hair was a shade of brown that appeared black due to lack of light in the room. I was wearing my usual blue sweatshirt and track pants.
I can't believe how Kana considered this attractive. I don't consider myself handsome, but girls think otherwise.
"Fufufu, where are you going?" Lilith asked.
"Supermarket." I headed towards the main door.
"I thought you were going to hangout with your friends." She took a slight pause and laughed. "I forgot you're a loner. How lame." She said, while slapping my back.
I went out and closed the door on her face. I could hear her swearing at me from the other side of the door. It brought a smile to my face, and I continued towards the supermarket.
I was walking downtown, and the supermarket was right around the corner. I stopped at a crosswalk, as it was a red light. I was listening to some light music.
"Sakamaki?" I heard a faint voice calling out my name. I took out my earphone and looked in the direction that voice came from.

Seeker
The Gods are dead As they bled dry, so did the magic which gave them birth. In the new era of technology, its pathetic remnants must hide in the shadows or be locked away. In the ancient era of magic two beings often stood out: Galileo, an immortal scholar obsessed with knowledge and Angelica, the most loyal servant of the greatest among the now dead Gods. But why are they worthy of mention? Because after millennia of isolation, the two emerge in the new world beyond their reckoning. The entire story is told from the third person, however, each chapter will be told from the perspective of only one of the characters. This will be signified by the first letter of their names after the chapter number to avoid confusion. I submitted this fiction as a [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] as well as a participant in National Novel Writing Month. The original challenge had been to finish this entire faction within the month of November reaching the 55.5k word minimum. This goal had been achieved. I do not own the cover picture
