Chapter 312: Count Isaiah
Upon hearing those words, the guards glanced at each other and opened the metallic gate.
At that moment, one of the two guards gave his spear to the other one and spoke.
"Please wait here for a while, Master Mage. I'll go and ask permission from the family head."
Saying so, he turned around and started running towards the mansion building.
A few minutes later, the same guard returned from the building and responded.
"Lord Isaiah is waiting for you at the reception room, Master Mage."
Meanwhile, Charles nodded his head, stepped forward, and started walking on the concrete path.
He walked past the grassy yard, golden fountain, and a few human statues and soon arrived near the porch area.
After that, he appeared in front of the locked wooden door, grabbed the doorknob before turning it to the right side, and opened it.
Then, he stepped into the entrance hallway, walked on the red-carpeted floor, and soon reached the reception room.
At that moment, Charles's gaze swept past the glass windows and soon landed on the portrait that hung on the right sidewall.
The person in the portrait was a whirly-haired young woman.
She had blonde hair, around 20-years-old, fair skin, monolid hazel eyes, and a heart-shaped face.
But what surprised Charles was that they put a flower string on the portrait.
'Lydia White... Is this a custom to place flower string on dead people's portraits?' He raised his eyebrows a little.
But soon, he retracted his gaze and turned his attention towards the reception room.
Currently, a blonde-haired man in his late fifties sat on the couch and seemed to be in the middle of reading a newspaper.
Yes, there were newspapers in this Magical World!
The main reason for such creation was the Ember Kingdom's [Artisan] Class Mystics!

It's the only kingdom in the whole continent that gave much importance to the [Artisan] Class Mystics.
'If I'm not wrong, the Royal Family of Ember Kingdom has in possession of some ancient mage's inheritance. Because of that inheritance, the Artisans made a huge breakthrough during the past few centuries and created many new weapons and artifacts. Ember Pistols, common and uncommon artifacts we use in daily life are mostly created by these mystics. These newspapers printing machines are also one of their magical creations.' The Holem's Crown said in his mind.
'Oh? What type of news do they put in the newspaper? Is it costly?' Charles gave a curious look at the newspaper and asked.
'You'll find political-related news, important battles, wars, and other entertainment news. Although the newspapers are a little expensive, nobles and mages would buy them regularly to learn the general situation of the kingdom.'
Charles listened to the Holem's Crown's words and soon moved forward.
At that moment, the blonde-haired man folded the newspaper, placed it on the table, and turned his gaze towards Charles.
He had an oblong face, wide-set amber eyes, elongated eyebrows, snub nose, and wore a normal shirt and pants.
He was Count Isaiah, the current head of the White Household.
Not only that, but he was also the Lord of this Perley City.
Isaiah glanced at Charles up and down, frowned a bit, and asked.
"Are you the guest of Saron?"
On the other hand, Charles smiled as he went near the opposite sofa, sat on it, and spoke.
"I'm Astinus Croft, a mage from Ashbury City-"
"If you are looking for Saron, she is not here." Isaiah interrupted him.
Surprise appeared on Charles's face.
He soon turned his face solemnly and asked.
"Where is she now, Lord Isaiah?"

Upon hearing his question, a gloomy look appeared on his face.
"Currently, she is staying in the Holly Cottage. After Lydia's death, she never showed her face in front of me." Saying so, he subconsciously turned his gaze towards the portrait and sighed.
"She was truly a good girl. If she didn't follow after 'Him' like Saron, she would be still alive." His voice contains a trace of anger and helplessness.
"Him?" Charles wore a curious look and asked.
"It's better not talk about him." Isaiah stopped for a moment and asked.
"Why do you want to see my daughter, Mr. Mage?"
Meanwhile, Charles turned his face solemnly and answered.
"I came here to give her something. Can you please send someone to this Holly Cottage and relay a message to her? If she knows that I'm here, she will definitely come."
Although Isaiah felt a little suspicious of this new guest, he didn't put much thought into it and turned his gaze towards the living room.
"Lucien? Come here." He said.
A brown-haired man walked into the reception room in his butler suit just as he finished his words. He appeared a little older than Isaiah and held a unique golden book in his hand.
He soon arrived next to Isaiah, bowed his head, and asked.
"Do you need something, my lord?"
"Yes. Go to the Holly Cottage and tell Saron that her friend Astinus Croft is here to see her." Isaiah said in a casual tone.
Upon hearing those words, the butler named Lucien nodded his head and hastily moved towards the exit.
On the other hand, Charles turned his gaze towards Isaiah and asked.
"It seems your relationship with Saron isn't that good. What happened?"
"Haa, it's the same family problems." Isaiah refused to say anything and asked about his personal information.
"You said you came from Ashbury City, right? How did you become friends with my daughter?"
"It happened a few years ago." Charles paused for a moment and started spouting random bullshits.
Ashbury City was located in the western part of the Empire of Rogue Throne.
Although that city was somewhat famous, most of the Nobles and mages in the northern part of the kingdom didn't know much about it.
After some time, Charles also changed the topic and began to ask some questions about Perley City's unique culture, architecture design, trade, unique law and order, and so on.
While they were discussing, a white-haired elderly man walked into the reception room and interrupted them.
He had a pale-looking wrinkled face, eerie black eyes, and a unique tattoo on his right wrist.
Unlike others, he wore a simple grey robe, held a bone staff in his hand, and appeared very simple.
With a single look, anyone could tell that he was a [Necromancer] Class Mystic!
Upon seeing his arrival, Isaiah stood up with a stiff expression on his face and greeted him.
"Good Evening, father,"
Charles also stood up from his seat and bowed at him in respect.
On the other hand, the grey-robed elder nodded his head, moved towards the nearby old wooden chair, and sat on it.
Then, he zeroed his gaze on Charles and furrowed his brows.
After that, he held the bone staff in his hand, closed his eyes, chanted a few words, and soon spoke.
"Hmm, you are shrouded in full of mysteries. But I still feel deep anger reside within you... Hmm? You have ill intentions against my family..."
His voice appeared hoarse and eerie.

A Castle in a Teacup
One might say that to anger forces beyond the ken of fragile breakable mortals is a bad idea, others might say that meddling in dark forces with little chance of gain is also a bad idea, they would both be right by on all counts but they forget to mention also how incredibly stupid combining both of those things are. Stupid people don’t last so long on the mystic side of things, normal folks who wander over to the other side have a tendency to do one of two things, either A. figure out that the best thing to do is keep their head down and not draw attention from any entity that refers to humanity as “you mortals” , or B. something horrifying happens to them. As you may have guessed I fell into the second category, mostly because I thought there was a third option. See I though there must be an option C, an option where I got to end up not as some shitty back ally wizard cowering at the chance of discovery, praying that one of my wards or spells wouldn’t be noticed by something that goes bump in the night. No I would be the one who rose above all that. I would never have to be afraid. Well I made a good attempt at it that’s for damn sure, but unfortunately for me it turns out there is not an option C. At least not for me…
