I Did Many Dangerous Things After Knowing When I Would Die Chapter 29

15 minutes before, just as the captain was questioning Jack London about the woman in the red dress, a black tornado whirled out of control in the tomb!
The entire underground tomb shook from the huge impact of the cyclone, and its walls crumbled.
"Run! Leave this place! It won't last long!"
John Jones roared to the other members as they turned to look.
"It's Captain John! He's still alive! Let's go to him!"
A member of the team was the first to notice John's presence and informed the others.
When they had first entered the tomb, their memories had been altered. They only remembered the first few moments of entering the chamber, and after that, they lost their consciousness due to inhaling too much black gas.
Therefore, they'd completely forgotten about the incident of snatching and fighting each other over John's burial objects.
However, being oblivious did not mean that it did not happen.
Memories always resurface when people come across situations or objects related to them.
As the team of explorers caught up to John Jones and saw the pile of broken silver fragments in his arms, they quickly recalled what they had done previously.
For a moment, everyone felt embarrassed, but this pang of guilt was gone as fast as it came and everyone's mind was once again full with greed.
They stared at John's bag, full of gold and silver, and then looked at his broken right leg.
They felt evil welling up in their hearts. A few of them looked at each other tacitly before furtively reaching out to grab the Nepalese army knife at their waists.
They only had the knife with them. As for guns, they had been separated from the members as they fell, and now laid scattered somewhere around this large cavern.
Thud... Thud...
The few of them slowly moved forward, cautiously approaching John Jones.
"What are you all dawdling for? Quickly help me up, let's go out together!" shouted John as he held onto his fractured right leg, totally unaware of the awful intentions of his teammates.
'I'm sorry... Captain John, if we let you go, we won't get much of the valuables.'
'Don't you love exploring? It's just right for you to stay in this damn place!'

They sneered as they thought to themselves.
Then, they brandished their weapons as they charged at John! They had all been trained to wield knives, and were full of confidence that they could kill him with one strike!
Their plan was perfect, and their teamwork was surprisingly impressive, but they failed once they started.
A gunshot was heard, and the first one who reached John collapsed weakly.
There was a bullet wound on his chest, and blood was flowing out.
It was a gun!
John Jones had a gun!
Seeing their fallen teammate, the other team members who rushed forward with him stopped in their tracks, aghast.
Their hands that were wielding the knives started to tremble; they were only about three steps away from John, but they couldn't take a single step forward.
There were still four of them uninjured. If they worked together, they could definitely take John's life, although some would be sacrificed in the process.
However, none of them chose to continue with their attack. trembling at the idea of death. Not one of them wanted to be the one to be sacrificed.
They knew instinctively that if they were injured, the rest of their teammates would definitely not save them. They might even be forced to end their own lives to free themselves of the pain.
Completely aware of this, the four of them were frightened by John Jones' gun. They retreated backward and threw their knives away.
"A bunch of traitors. All of you were taking advantage of me, weren't you?! Playing tricks on me? Who gave you the guts?!" John Jones cursed as he aimed at the arms of two of the members.
Bang! Bang!
Two more shots were fired.
"Ah!"
Their arms instantly went limp. The hands that were holding their weapons loosened and the knives slid through, falling to the ground.
John Jones had intentionally avoided shooting at their vitals. It was obvious that he only wanted to warn them, with no intention of killing them.
After all, in this uncertain situation, having one extra teammate would always be advantageous, so he couldn't afford to kill any of them.
"No. 3, come and carry me. The other three, move to the front.

"Pick up the treasures on the ground and put them in your pockets.
"Let me remind you, don't think of running away alone. I'll follow behind. Whoever dares to run, my gun is always faster!"
John Jones said fiercely.
Just like that, the five of them started their escape, with three of the members leading the way. No. 3 carried John Jones on his back as they walked out of the tomb chamber.
At this point, half of the tomb had already collapsed. The tunnel had been split into two, revealing a wide exit at the end.
No one knew why the black Qi had suddenly gone on a killing spree, ravaging the tomb into pieces. However, by chance, it had helped open an exit for everyone to escape.
As for the teammate who had been shot and fell to the ground, the remaining five members indirectly chose to ignore him, and left him slowly bleeding out on the ground.
However, when they reached the tunnel, one of the teammates suddenly thought of something and turned around, calling out, "Oh right, Captain John! Blake hasn't come out yet! Should we bring him along?"
The teammate thought of Blake who had fallen to the side of the coffin and could not help but remind John.
Hearing his words, John Jones narrowed his eyes, clearly annoyed. He did not even give it a thought before refusing directly.
"That kid's body isn't built like ours. We have all suffered such serious injuries, and he's probably already freezing to death. Do you want a burden to slow us down and lead us all to our own deaths?"
"But..."
His teammate wanted to speak up, but Blake had indeed been very strange. Everything they had experienced today seemed to be in accordance with what Blake had warned them about. However, halfway opening his mouth, John abruptly fired a shot at the mud wall above the same member's head, cursing loudly.
"There's so much bullshit spewing from your mouth. If you say one more word, I'll bury you along with him!"
The teammate shut his mouth immediately and continued to advance through the tunnel with his head lowered.
As for John Jones, he sneakily turned his head to look toward Blake's direction. When he saw that Blake was lying on the ground motionlessly, he sighed with relief and returned his focus to escaping from this place.
Blake knew too much about what John had done tonight. If he were to be freed and reveal the truth, it would annihilate his reputation. He must not be allowed out of this place.
As he thought of this, the five of them had managed to reach the opening of the tunnel. John stretched out his hand and shoved down the pile of soil behind him into the hole, trying to block the way out, perfectly trapping Blake in the tomb.
As they walked through the passage of the tunnel, they stumbled upon the many corpses of the old tomb raiders. The smell was incredibly pungent with the stench of death stifling the air, but they had to endure it as they walked.
When they reached the exit of the tunnel, they looked behind them and found that the entire tomb had caved in, the ground completely sunken.
Seeing this, John's face gleamed with satisfaction.
He could now leave Blake at the back of his mind; with a destruction of this extent, the boy would undeniably be dead!
Boom!
All of a sudden, a legion of corpse worms climbed up from the ground!
Behind these insects, there was what seemed to be a giant hand formed by black gas, controlling them!
"Let's move! These guys have mutated! Let's go!"
John Jones shouted, panicked.
The members of the expedition team instantly made a run for it, dashing toward high ground in the distance.
There, a huge searchlight shone on them. Officers and soldiers wearing the uniforms of the Criminal Investigation Division waved at them!
The Criminal Investigation Division had sent people to their rescue!
They were saved!
The members of the expedition team were all giddy with thankfulness and ecstasy.
Only John Jones froze when he realized that the place was occupied by the Criminal Investigation Division.
He carefully looked at the gunshot wounds on the arms of the two members in front of him, unsure of what to do. After a while, he slyly tossed his pistol into the swarm of insects behind him.
