Spirit Realm Chapter 1400
Chapter 1400: Cruel Reality
Salleh and Miao Fengtian had been hanging around each other for a very long time already. Salleh had learned a lot of less known tricks regarding corpse refinement from more experienced Miao Fengtian, while the latter deepened his understanding of the corpse refinement art.
Both men had learned a lot from each other.
However, Salleh had also stayed in the Frost Desolation Abyss for quite some time now. It was time he returned to the Bone Race.
“You wish to walk with me?” Qin Lie asked curiously.
“Mn, I will be entering Frost Desolation Abyss’ abyss passageway and returning to my homeworld through a black hole,” Salleh explained.
“Alright.” Qin Lie nodded.
Before he left, Qin Lie told Miao Fengtian to guard the realm entrance that lead to Boluo Realm and prevent any stranger from getting close to it.
After that, he and Salleh left Cadak’s territory behind.
They both walked towards the abyss passageway.
“I heard… that the God Race will be appearing in Spirit Realm pretty soon?” Salleh asked suddenly.
Qin Lie’s expression was calm. “The Profound Ice Family has already shown up, actually.”
“That quick?” Salleh was obviously surprised by this news. His gem-like eyes kept twirling as he spoke, “To our knowledge, the God Race should take at least another two to three years before they discover your homeworld.”
“The Bone Race knows about this?” Qin Lie was caught off guard by this revelation.
Salleh grinned and chuckled. “Most of these news aren’t really a secret, especially any large-scale activities that are carried out by the four transcendent bloodline races. Really, it’s practically impossible for them to hide it.”
Qin Lie frowned as his face turned cold. “If I’m not mistaken… the Bone Race probably covets Spirit Realm too. Right?”
Salleh suddenly fell silent.
Qin Lie snorted once before continuing, “Spirit Realm must look like a fat piece of meat to every powerful race in the outer realms, huh?”
“In the past, I would’ve said ‘no’, but… in the future, the possibility definitely exists,” Salleh replied honestly.

“What do you mean?” Qin Lie asked heavily.
“Although I’ve been spending most of my time at the Frost Desolation Abyss, it’s not like I’m completely cut off from the Bone Race.” Salleh thought for a moment before starting slowly. “I’m not sure who was the one who leaked the news, but it is said that a great secret is hidden in a natural forbidden land of Spirit Realm. It was also said that the reason the God Race has invaded Spirit Realm again and again, and the reason all five God Race families have shown up this time is to claim that secret for themselves.”
“Someone’s been purposely spreading this news?” Qin Lie’s expression changed.
Salleh nodded in response. “That’s what my people heard anyway. But I have reasons to believe that the Soul Race, the Spirit Race, and the Abyss Devil Race have set their sights onto Spirit Realm as well.”
“Are you in a hurry to return to your people because the Bone Race is planning to stick their nose into Spirit Realm too?” Qin Lie asked darkly.
Salleh let out a laugh before continuing, “No, I’m in a hurry to return because I wish to record all of the knowledge I’ve obtained from Miao Fengtian. However, I will be paying attention to Spirit Realm’s situation, and I may even visit the Frost Desolation Abyss again in the near future. That being said, I promise you that I will notify you if the Bone Race is heading for Spirit Realm.”
Qin Lie snorted coldly before declaring, “I will treat you all as enemies if you dare step a foot into Spirit Realm.”
“What if we don’t come with ill intentions?” Salleh asked.
“What intentions other than ill ones can you possibly have invading us?” Qin Lie retorted bluntly.
“It’s not like cooperation between our people is impossible, you know.” Salleh thought for a moment before relenting, “Never mind, we can speak of this at a later time. At any rate, I want you to know that I have no wish of becoming your enemy. I don’t know why, but I can’t shake off the feeling that you’ll become an absolutely terrifying fellow in the future. I don’t wish to provoke you whatsoever.”

“That is for the best.” Qin Lie said coldly.
“Roar!”
A devilish roar suddenly resounded from behind a gray dark mountain peak. It was mingled with a cry of pain.
By then, both Qin Lie and Salleh had already stepped out of Cadak’s territory. This meant that any race from Boluo Realm could organize a hunt to take down any Abyss Devil within the area.
Of course, the Abyss Devils could also turn the tables and make them their prey instead.
Along the way, Qin Lie and Salleh had seen countless bones that belonged to either the races of Boluo Realm, or the Abyss Devils.
A battle between the races of Spirit Realm and the Abyss Devils normally ended with the victor tearing the loser’s flesh apart, devouring them whole on the spot, or cutting off a portion of their flesh before leaving.
That was why he and Salleh had only seen bones along the way.
“Sister! You should leave first! We will hold down this Giant Scorpion Devil!” Naji’s shout suddenly rang from behind that mountain.
A moment of surprise later, Qin Lie suddenly changed directions and flew towards that gray white mountain peak.
Salleh hesitated for a moment before deciding to follow Qin Lie.
At the back of the mountain, a Rank Eight Giant Scorpion Devil leading a dozen or so low rank Abyss Devils was fighting against the Cullen Family.
Hester, Naji, Serine; all three familiar faces were present in the battle.
Hester’s entire body was covered in blood. He had clearly suffered a terrible injury, and he was currently trying his best to defend himself from the Giant Scorpion Devil’s tail attack. Right now, he looked incredibly pitiful.
The Cullen Family clansmen seemed to have been ambushed by the Abyss Devils. There were at least a dozen or so bodies scattered among the rocks at the back of the mountain.
The dead clansmen had clearly been chewed on by the Abyss Devils even though the battle was still ongoing. It looked incredibly gruesome.
Even now, several rank seven Abyss Devils were tearing apart a couple of limbs from the dead bodies, laughing and closing in onto Naji and Serine.
Naji and Serine were also wounded as well. Their clothes were stained in blood all over the place.
Qin Lie only needed a glance to know that these Cullen Family clansmen would die here if this situation was allowed to continue.
“Eat or be eaten by the Abyss Devils: This is something that’s happening in the Abyss everyday.” Salleh appeared next to Qin Lie while staring at the Cullen Family clansmen coldly. “These people must have lived in a peaceful world in the past. It doesn’t look like they’ve gotten used to the cruelty of the Abyss yet.”
Qin Lie’s face darkened.
Salleh’s words had made him imagine the gruesome scene that was a troop of Abyss Devils invading Spirit Realm.
The Abyss Devils were far crueler and bloodthirsty than the God Race. If they were to invade Spirit Realm through the Star Abyss he had created…
It probably wouldn’t take long for the Hundred Races of Spirit Realm to lose their minds completely.
To the devils, all intelligent species in Spirit Realm were ultimately just food.
The God Race at least wouldn’t kill every last living being on Spirit Realm if they successfully took over the place. In fact, they would employ their services and make them work for them.
However, the Abyss Devils needed no captives at all.
“Qin Lie!”
Hester shot a glance at Qin Lie and Salleh’s direction when he heard the conversation, shivering in joy when he realized who it was.
“Qin Lie! I’m begging you! Please take Naji and Serine with you! Please save them!” Hester suddenly begged pitifully.

Author's Rant
Just a disclaimer, this is not and never will be a story. I just, noticed I have a bad habit of wanting to rant in my author's notes, and have decided that, instead of accidentally doubling the length of each chapter with the author's note alone, I will shove those long-ass rants here. It might contain spoilers for my stories, as I usually wind up ranting about different parts I'm writing. So, if you actually enjoy my rants...well, firstly, what is wrong with you? Secondly, welcome! Time to figure out what tags to stick on this. Also, as of the second chapter, I have decided to shove some of my story ideas here. So if you enjoy half-baked, unfinished stories, then I got those too. I think that adds that short story tag?
