Monster Paradise Chapter 11Monster Paradise Chapter 11:《Grand Desolation Scripture》Beginner Script
Lin Huang collapsed on his bed after that all nighter and slept through the better part of the day. By the time he woke up, his sister got home from school. Memory of her leaving for school conspicuously missing from his memory.
Both of them left for dinner. In the dining room, they met the Scar-face of Room 301 once again. They exchanged greetings — A friendly smile from Lin Huang and a cold expressionless nod from the man — and went on with their meals.
Later in the night, once Lin Xin had fallen asleep, Lin Huang started his knife practice on the balcony even before the scarred man started his nightly ritual. At his third repetition, he spotted the scarred man walking towards his previous practice spot on the lawn.
This time, Lin Huang’s usual quipping were nowhere to be heard as his gaze was squarely fixed on the man’s movements, making not to miss out on even the minutest of details.
After three repetitions, the scarred man stopped and went back to his room. With the scene still fresh in his mind, Lin Huang spent some time analyzing the man’s movements before resuming his own practice.
Similar to the previous night, he completed a total of 100 repetitions however with much better results. 36 fragments were the results of his hard work. Combining the two nights results, he gained a total of 57 fragments but this still wasn’t enough for a complete skill.
The third day.
Lin Huang slept the first half of the day once again.
“Brother, have you been suffering from insomnia these few days?” Lin Xin asked with a concerned look on her face.
“A little.” He decided to admit to that as Lin Xin’s explanation would save him the trouble of having to explain his sleeping habits.
” Since that’s the case, you should get some more sleep, I’ll bring dinner up to your room later on.” Lin Xin said in a happy tone.

“It’s fine, I’ve had enough sleep. We can have dinner together.” His heart warmed as he thought to himself. She’s a pretty considerate little sister.
“By the way, the owner sent word of an express delivery addressed to you being delivered to the hotel from the our home. I’ve brought it up.” Lin Xin said as he retrieved the cardboard box from her Personal Storage Space.
“Delivery? I didn’t buy anything.” Lin Huang saw the sender’s name just as he finished his sentence. Hunter’s Association Seventh District Branch. He suddenly remembered the reward that was promised to him for killing that vampire.
“I wonder what’s my reward for killing a vampire.” Lin Huang said as he tore apart the packaging.
A black suitcase. It had a combination lock securing it and a letter was secured on the top of the suitcase. Seeing that it was locked, Lin Huang opened the letter, hoping to find the 4 digit combination within it.
It was a letter of commendation sent by the Hunter’s Association. It contents included the usual gratitude and praise followed by the all-important combination password and a description of the reward given. Upon reading this, Lin Huang’s lit up. The Hunter’s Association is surprisingly generous!
Lin Huang excitedly dialed in the combination. 7101.

The suitcase snapped open automatically and revealed its contents.
“A Firearms type Equipment?” Lin Huang gasped in surprise.
“A Black Eagle 33! The newest BlackIron Firearms type Equipment from Desert Eagle Co; I heard it boasts the greatest performance among its counterparts! This is thanks to its amazing ability of being able to switch between a pistol mode and a sniper rifle mode. Its price is comparable to certain BlueCopper Equipment.” Lin Huang gushed excitedly while gently caressing the pitch black pistol.
The gun had a rugged look to it that surpassed his Gray Eagle 17. Its entire body was made of Black Gold and was decorated with silver engravings, giving it a cold domineering yet stylish look to it.
After admiring the gun extensively, he finally stowed it away reluctantly.

Equipment required Life Energy in order to activate it. This was especially true for Firearms type Equipment. The gun’s ammunition was formed out of Life Energy.
At his current Combat Rank, the Black Eagle 33 was clearly unusable. He had to advance into the BlackIron rank before he could use it.
Once my combat rank advances to BlackIron, I’ll be covered on all fronts. Blood Arts for closed ranged combat, my Black Eagle 33 for long ranged combat. My combat strength will improve by leaps and bounds. He thought to himself. However, despite his excitement, he was not one to focus on distant goals at the expense of his immediate needs.
He knew where his attention was required. I’ll need to piece together the Grand Desolation Knife Scripture before the Reserve Hunter Exam if I want protect myself. I can’t solely rely on my vampire.
After having dinner with his sister, he had a glass of Tranquility Tea before starting his training. He rolled up the living room’s carpet and pushed the sofas aside to form a practice area in the middle of the room.
Previously, he used to practise on the balcony but he felt it was too cramped for his needs. The balcony had a width of only 2m. This led to his decision to practise in the living room. As for why he pushed the furniture aside, he was scared of breaking something. The furniture in this room were clearly beyond his means at the moment.
Lin Xin wanted to watch her brother practise but seeing his focused expression, she decided not to impose on him and went to study in her room.
Perhaps it’s the wider practise space having an immediate effect. Lin Huang felt his practice proceeding at a faster rate than before. His success rate had received a massive boost.
With an evening’s worth of practice, his success rate rose above 60%. His gains tonight were 68 fragments.
He was puzzled by this dramatic change. Not only did he experience a massive boost in success rate, from 20% to over 60%, the fatigue was much lesser than his previous sessions. According to his past experiences, he should be on the verge of collapsing right now. But not only is he not fatigued, he does not feel sleepy at all.
This sensation, it’s like I’ve had a stimulant… He carefully retraced his steps and discovered the culprit. The Tranquility Tea? But I’ve had it for the past few days and I did not feel any stimulating effects. I even slept pretty soundly after taking it…
After mulling over it, he poured another glass of Tranquility Tea and gulped it down. The sweet juice invigorated his spirit significantly. Looks like I’ve found the culprit.
Just as he discovered the use of the tea, he heard his neighbor’s door close. He rushed to the balcony to spy on Scar-face’s knife practice. This time he was able to observe it in greater detail.
After his usual routine of observation and mental simulations, he returned to the living room and began practising once more.
This continued on till 7 am. Out of his 100 repetitions, he received a total of 88 fragments, meaning over 80% of his repetitions were effective.
As Lin Xin prepared to head to school, she saw that Lin Huang was still energetically practicing in the living room and assumed he had just woken up as well. Without putting any further thought into this matter, she left for school.
After a quick breakfast, he took stock of his mental condition. He was energetic as ever without any signs of growing fatigue. With a quick dose of Tranquility Tea, Lin Huang began practising once more.
From morning till dusk, he performed another 100 repetitions and received another 87 fragments. However, after receiving his 87th fragment, he heard the familiar ding once more.

World Story: Biographies of Extraordinary People
Important note: I’d like to thank Dr. Buller for their advice on dialogue by their critical review. And I’m on a one-month break to post the first revised chapters on Scribble Hub. Please stay tuned! Even in faraway worlds, every folk had a story, and monsters came in numerous shapes and sizes. However, heroes never existed in this otherworld. Even the most idealistic understood this deep within. But as they abandoned their humanity at times, they quickly regained it. It was not that they became human again. They always were. So what happened when the monster devoid of humanity appeared? Well, the “heroes” sought to slay it at all costs either way, lest it would be the end of their stories. A portal/isekai fantasy that I wanted to deconstruct some elements within. Expect a whole ton of references and dialogue because I’ll deliberately write it more like a light novel. The last thing to consider is that Japanese names in my novel will come with kanji/hiragana characters within parentheses. The same goes for any other derived from non-Latin writing systems. It’s because none of the names I write will be accidental or random. They’ll all have meaning. New chapters Monday to Thursday at 11:00 PM (GMT+8), though sometimes I can’t. Credit for the cover art goes to HWPerfidy. She’s a freelance artist on this site, and I’d love anyone who shows her support.

At The Lions Gate
In the 20th century America reinvented itself. Devastated by depression, scarred by war, rocked by a revolution, Americans banded together to preserve their country and their freedom. They had faith in themselves, faith in one another, and for those who believed…faith in God. This novel tells the story of one American who lived through those turbulent years….years that would test his character and the character of a nation. For Josh Sanders it begins in 1935. A star athlete in school, pro football is a ticket out of poverty during the Great Depression; but when his father, a WWI veteran, is killed during a robbery, Josh’s spirit is broken, and with it his boyhood dream. To honor his father Josh joins the war effort in 1942, distinguishing himself as a fighter pilot, until a fateful decision near the end of the war changes the course of his life once again. But many years later, after a stint as a boxer and a failed marriage, Josh finds his calling…at a time when the country is at war with itself. The year is 1968. King and Kennedy have been killed, race riots are breaking out, and Vietnam has become an albatross, causing massive protests across the country. In the streets of San Francisco Josh watches a crowd of students march for peace. As a veteran he’s conflicted, toward the war and those who oppose it. But when he encounters Rosy Goldin, a spirited young protester in need of help, a voice from the past calls him to action. His good intentions are soon tested when Rosy falls in love with the fugitive anti-war activist Erick White, a young man determined to oppose the war at all costs, against the wishes of his own father. Fearful of what happens to Rosy, Josh confronts Erick, unwilling to be part of his plan to escape…until he meets the boy’s father. A high-powered criminal attorney, Karl White is also a flag-waving patriot demanding that his son follow the law. But as White makes his case Josh is jolted by a painful war-time memory, a crisis of conscience that will soon determine the fate of Rosy Goldin and Erick White.
