Chapter 2039: Divine Melody Taihua
Goddess Taihua came out and personally invited Ye Futian to listen to the Divine Taihua Melody!
Countless people focused their eyes on them in surprise. No one had thought that Goddess Taihua would come out, but it was not totally beyond reason. Although Ye Futian made a name for himself not too long ago, he was in the full flush of his success and had never lost a fight. He could always gain the upper hand no matter how talented his opponent was.
Aside from not having a celebrated background, he was better than anyone other than Ning Hua, including Goddess Taihua.
Therefore, it made sense that Goddess Taihua wanted him to listen to the Divine Melody Taihua.
The Sword Emperor Liunian was so powerful that all the genius cultivators from various top forces were eager to challenge him. This was a distinctive way to show their approval.
Li Changsheng and Zong Chan darted Ye Futian a glance, both of them smiling. Li Changsheng said in a low voice, “Brother Ye can always attract beautiful women.”
Zong Chan shook his head with a smile. Standing in the Law Battle Area, Ye Futian replied, “I certainly will listen if Goddess is willing to play. It’s my honor to enjoy the Divine Taihua Melody.”
He was not acting humble out of courtesy. He mastered two Divine Melodies himself and was already interested in the Divine Melody Taihua. Of course, he was glad to know how unique and remarkable the Divine Melody Taihua was since Goddess Taihua offered to play for him.
After getting Ye Futian’s permission, Goddess Taihua stepped forward and walked over to Ye Futian. She soon entered the Law Battle Area and stood face to face with Ye Futian.
“It seems like Ye Liunian is one of the most extraordinary cultivators at the Donghua Banquet this year. Everyone wants to beat him, but no one has achieved it yet,” Chief Ning, who was sitting in the Donghua Palace commented, chuckling. The master cultivators had been paying more attention to Ye Futian now.
The Palace Lord of the Lingxiao Palace and Emperor Yan both glanced at Ye Futian. Then, Emperor Yan shot a look at Millet Emperor and said, “Millet Emperor trained him well.”

“He was born with remarkable talents. I let him cultivate at Wangshen Watchtower for several months and didn’t have much influence on him. What he has shown in the previous battles are his own skills and abilities. If you believe he only won because of the Gate to World Suppression, why don’t you send a cultivator of the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family to challenge him? I will ask him not to use the Gate to World Suppression,” the Millet Emperor replied blankly.
“Humph!” Emperor Zhan uttered a snort and looked away. Even though he was not pleased that the Millet Emperor imparted his unique skill to Ye Futian, he had to admit that the Millet Emperor was telling the truth. No one from the Great Yan Ancient Royal Family could beat Ye Futian even if he didn’t use the Gate to World Suppression.
No one was even close. Ye Futian didn’t use the Gate to World Suppression when he fought against Storm Demon.
“The Millet Emperor is right. Ye Liunian is a top-level cultivator even without the Gate to World Suppression. I’m afraid he is unrivaled among his peers,” Thunder Punishing Skylord spoke with a smile. These master cultivators all had a good eye for talents. There was no doubt that Ye Futian was much superior to everyone else.
“Let’s see if he can withstand the Divine Melody Taihua,” said the Palace Lord of the Lingxiao Palace. He darted a glance at Taihua Skylord and added, “It’s a Divine Melody composed by you. Your niece is also nothing but extraordinary. I think she should be able to win against Ye Liunian this time.”
“It’s not easy,” the Taihua Skylord gazed at the Law Battle Platform and replied calmly, “I would be more confident if she challenged someone else. This youngster is truly amazing. I’m not certain if the Divine Taihua Melody can overpower him.”
“It’s about to begin. Let’s watch,” Chief Ning smiled and said.
Inside of the Law Battle Area, Goddess Taihua was glowing with celestial light. Her beauty was out of this world. She bowed slightly at Ye Futian and said, “I beg your pardon, Renhuang Ye.”
“Please, Goddess,” Ye Futian replied. Goddess Taihua sat down in midair with her legs crossed. Countless strings of the Great Path took shape as soon as she reached out her slender hands. The strings covered every inch of the sky and turned the Law Battle Area into her own Great Path domain.

A guqin appeared in front of Goddess Taihua. She plucked the strings with her fingers. The forceful and stirring tone made everyone’s hearts tremble, both the Renhuangs in the Nine Heavens and cultivators sitting in the lower areas.
Clang… Clang… Clang…
Goddess Taihua bowed her head and immersed herself in playing the guqin as if no one else was nearby. She radiated the celestial light, her long black hair blowing in the wind. Her elegance dazed many people.
The tone was rich and vigorous, and the vibrant notes formed a symphony of the Great Path.
Standing in the Great Path domain of the strings, Ye Futian could hear the music clearly. His heart trembled at every beat, and the notes stifled his spiritual soul. He felt like a range of mountains was pressing on his soul.
At this moment, Ye Futian had a feeling that he was no longer standing in the Law Battle Platform. Instead, he was put in a world of music where divine mountains came down from the sky one after another. Each one of them contained unparalleled force, which made him exceptionally small beneath the mountains. His heart was palpitating, and his blood was rushing in the veins.
The Divine Melody Taihua!
Ye Futian had been exposed to music before, including two Divine Melodies. But he had never heard something so powerful before. Nothing he experienced in the past was as energetic as the Divine Melody Taihua. He could feel the splendor and glory of the Great Path and the triviality of himself.
Right now, the Divine Melody symbolized the Heavenly Path that was overwhelming and irresistible.
Ye Futian also felt a tremendous amount of pressure. He emitted the divine light of the Great Path from his body. But the pressure from the music was intangible. Another note fell upon him at this moment. He felt like his body was being slammed by an invisible force. The divine mountains were collapsing on him, and the world he was in was being destroyed.
The Great Path around him was also sagging and crumbling. Any energy he released was neutralized immediately. The stars circling him were shattered and annihilated. His spiritual soul was being pounded again and again.
The Great Path inside Ye Futian’s body was also under attack. Everything was about to be destroyed by the Divine Taihua Melody.
Countless pairs of eyes were glued to the Law Battle Platform. It was the first time Ye Futian was being subdued. Many people were staggered to see the Great Path gathering around Ye Futian’s body and immediately falling to pieces. No one expected Goddess Taihua to be so frightening.
It appeared that they underestimated the top cultivators in the Donghua Domain, after all. Although Goddess Taihua had fought against other people before, she didn’t reveal the true power of the Divine Melody since her opponents were less worthy.
“That’s what the Divine Melody Taihua can do. It looks like Ye Liunian is about to lose,” Chief Ning commented while watching the Law Battle Platform.
Other master cultivators were shocked as well. Taihua Skylord was a hermit who rarely communicated with the outside world. He immersed himself in cultivation and studied the Divine Melodies assiduously. The ten Divine Melodies of the Divine Prefecture all had a long history. Cultivators could gain great power and significant benefits if they comprehended them thoroughly.
No one knew to what extent Taihua Skylord mastered the Divine Melodies. But they could all venture a rough guess by listening to Goddess Taihua’s performance today.
“Indeed. I didn’t realize your niece is so phenomenal. I guess only Ning Hua is a match for her in all of the Donghua Domain,” the Palace Lord of the Lingxiao Palace said.
“Maybe Ye Liunian can come up with more surprises?” Emperor Xi laughed. “It’s not over yet. Let’s keep watching for now. That youngster hasn’t lost a single match so far.”
“Right.” Everyone else nodded. Apart from the big shots in the Donghua Palace, cultivators from top forces sitting below were also surprised to see the invincible Ye Futian being held in check. They didn’t expect Goddess Taihua to be so powerful.

Tales From the Terran Republic
We tried, you know… We really did. We tried so hard to be… better… We actually were better once. No, seriously. We were enlightened, generous, peaceful… Stop laughing! We were! We were peaceful, dammit! No, I’m not “tugging your winglets.” It’s true! Look, if you’re going to be like that, I’ll just push the launch button right now. See ya, don’t wanna be… Oh, you ARE interested after all? Ok. Hey, I just got word that your captain will be ok. We were able to get him into a med pod quick enough… Of course, we tried to save him. Just what sort of people do you think we are?... Now that was harsh… completely accurate, mind you… but harsh. Anyway, like I was saying, we were a prosperous, peaceful people, and war had been nothing but a distant memory for over five hundred years before it happened... Before Yellowstone happened! You don’t mean to tell me that you didn’t know about that… massive supervolcano? Blew the Hell out of our planet? Two years where nothing grew?… Anyway, that’s what started it, the Sol Wars… Oh, you have heard about those, huh? Well, needless to say, all that enlightened, generous, and peaceful didn’t exactly make it through the two years of complete famine and the wars that followed… Maybe it’s more accurate to say the enlightened, generous, and peaceful among us didn’t survive… (laughs)… You’re right. It does explain a lot, doesn’t it? Probably for the best, though. “Enlightened” and “peaceful” aren’t really all that useful out here in the galaxy at large, are they? That reminds me; thanks for the ship. You guys did a great job with this one. Oh, don’t be like that. At least it was us what got you and not one of the really messed groups like the Harlequin or the Black Angels. We’re just going to take your shit. It could be worse… trust me... Well, anyway, we loaded the life pods down with some good food, and you guys can drink alcohol, right? We put in a couple of fifths in there, too. It’s about forty percent ethanol, so be warned. Most species will want to dilute that. We’ll drop your wounded off somewhere safe once they are stable. Your fleet patrols this area fairly regularly, and we’ll drop the distress beacon right before we jump… Well, It’s been fun and no hard feelings, right?… Oh, you want to know some more? Sure. I got time to kill… Let me tell you about this one pirate and her crew. They’re Terran scum, but they are still… Why do we hate the Terrans? Hoo Boy… How much time you got? *** It’s the thirty-second century, and humanity is now part of a galactic civilization comprised of hundreds of worlds. Humanity has been savaged by natural disaster and war and has been fractured into several separate populations, all of which loathe each other (some things never change). This is a gritty drama-driven rambling tale that swings between action, drama, horror, and plenty of very, very dark comedy. Warning: contains adult situations, absolutely horrible language, bathroom humor, implied ultra-violence, actual ultra-violence, drugs, alcohol, pirates, mercs, xeno prostitutes, moral ambiguity, deranged AI's with identity issues, giant commie space slugs, and a poor little frog girl who just wants to sell coffee. Updates twice weekly on Tuesday and Friday. *** Note: This story can get rough. Those warning tags? They aren't for show. I recently received a review and as a result I want to make one thing clear. Portraying something is NOT endorsing it! Many "heavy" topics are touched upon and just because a character says or does something does not imply that the author feels the same way. I selected the "Anti-Hero Lead" and "Villainous Lead" tags for a reason. Rule number one of this story is "no good guys". A good description of the story is, "bad people doing bad things to worse people". There are a few good characters, here and there, but they are the exception to the rule. If you want a hard-hitting, exciting, gritty sci-fi story that doesn't pull any punches, or shies away from "difficult" concepts, welcome! If you are set on a pure and noble knight that runs around and slays conveniently evil monsters and rescues totally innocent princesses... or your sensibilities are easily offended... You're not going to be happy with this one.

“You first caught my attention when you stole the Giant’s Sovereignty. “I took note of your ability when you slew the King of Monsters. “And I found myself in awe after seeing you—” “Can you spare me the monologue? The Errant Otherworlder Watanabe
“In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death, taxes and trucks whom transport men to other worlds.” Meet our titular protagonist Haruto Watanabe, a man who has all the markings of a good protagonist for a generic portal fantasy story. As an overworked office worker, to escape from the grips of crippling capitalist alienation, he had taken up to reading many stories where young men like him were transported to other worlds and enjoyed their lives at a most leisurely pace. Armed with genre-awareness and (what he believes to be) a marketable personality which would make him an easy audience self-insert, he longed for the day the isekai express would take him to his long-awaited adventure to another world. When the fateful day came, where the fair yet harsh mistress that is the fabled truck took Watanabe on one last date to the other side, he was most ready to escape his previous life, ready to embark on an errant so great he’d be most overpowered, his heroics so exceptional and his harem so vast that they would barely fit ten or twenty volumes of an overly long novel made by a desperate author looking for quick cash. Lo and behold however, Watanabe instead found himself in a low fantasy world which lacked severely in the department of any game-like systems, cheat skills or easily charmed damsels in distress. In a setting so antithetical to his established genre savviness or any attempts at power fantasy, how will a man like Watanabe, lacking in strength, wits and courage, manage to survive in a land most foreign to him? This is my first time trying to share to the wider world what I’ve written, and I hope you’ll enjoy reading the errantry of Watanabe as much as I enjoy writing about them. I'll be posting one chapter per week on Sundays, along with extra chapters whenever I get the chance to write more than usual.
