《Ranker's Return》Chapter 636

“There’s someone already set as supervisor?” Lee Hoon asked with an expression of surprise.
“Yes, there is someone I’ve had in mind for a long time.” Hyeonu nodded. It wasn’t a lie. There was someone he had indeed thought about for this role.
“I will bring someone who is very talented. You don’t have to worry about it. You should just focus on Arena.” Hyeonu made eye contact with Lee Hoon for a few seconds. Lee Hoon was overwhelmed by Hyeonu’s gaze and nodded.
‘There are three people remaining... I need to pick nine more...’ Hyeonu thought. His expression became mysterious. He never imagined that Yuri and Sunny would extend their professional careers, so it was an unexpected gain.
‘Four or five people will be from those around me... I can pick the rest through the audition.’
The number of starters decreased less than expected. Hyeonu smiled at the thought that he could reduce some of his trouble.
‘I hope I can obtain a few of those people...’
The worst-case scenario momentarily came to Hyeonu’s mind. It was that the number of people to be selected through New Moon would increase. Every time it increased, Hyeonu’s pain did so too.
‘That can’t happen. I have to do everything it takes to stop it.’
It was horrible to think about. Having to choose nine people through the audition would be the worst.
“If you have any friends around you that you can recommend, bring them. Hoon, it can’t be the people you know,” Hyeonu said.
Suddenly attacked by Hyeonu, Lee Hoon replied with his lips sticking out in a pout, “What’s wrong with me?”
“In any case, you can’t.” Hyeonu laughed and waved his hand. He didn’t trust Lee Hoon’s friends. It was as he said in the stream. Those who were recommended by acquaintances and tested for joining shouldn’t have a reason for disqualification.
‘It needs to maintain a clean image.’
Crescent Moon must maintain a clean image without any noise. It was only in this way that Hyeonu’s image would be greatly improved.
“Let’s stop talking about headache-inducing things and eat. I’m hungry,” Hyeonu said before he rolled up the pasta around his fork and placed it in his mouth.
***
‘I’m sleepy... I want to sleep more. I don’t want to get up.’
Hyeonu tightly gripped the thick goose-down quilt and couldn’t get up from bed. It was so warm and comfortable. 10 minutes passed like this before he finally got out of bed with a really irritated expression.
‘I have an appointment, so I need to go out.’
He wanted to stay in bed for a few more hours, but he couldn’t do that today. It was because today was the day he would go with Moon Doyeong to meet the man who would become the supervisor of Crescent Moon.
‘I am the one who asked to meet. I can’t show up late.’
That was something he should never do if he was a human being with a conscience. Hyeonu moved to the bathroom before he felt greater regret. He believed this tiredness would disappear after he washed up.

“Hey, I’m going out.”
Hyeonu quickly got ready and left a message for Yeongchan, who was still lying on the couch in the living room. Then he left the house.
‘CEO Moon should’ve left already... It will take some time to get to the appointed place.’
The appointed place wasn't in Gangnam; it was in Hongdae. To be precise, Hyeonu had made an appointment to meet at a cafe near Hongik University Station. It was because the person who might become the supervisor of Crescent Moon lived near Hongdae.
“CEO Moon-nim, have you departed?” Hyeonu called Moon Doyeong just in case.
-Ah, yes. I’m departing now. There might be a traffic jam, so I wanted to leave early. Has our Coach Gang departed? The sound of the engine under Moon Doyeong’s voice was like background music.
Hyeonu answered Moon Doyeong’s question by starting the car.
-You have departed. Then I’ll see you at the meeting place. I’m really curious about the supervisor you actively recommended. Moon Doyeong’s voice was full of curiosity.
He didn’t know the person. It was Hyeonu who suddenly asked him to have a meeting with someone who would be the supervisor of Crescent Moon. He just relied on his faith in the fact that Hyeonu was willing to spare time in his busy schedule to go out to meet this person.
“You’ll probably be satisfied when you see him. Personally, I don’t think there is anyone in the Korean League who can assert that their supervisor is better than the person we’re meeting today.”
-Then I’m looking forward to it even more. I’ll have to hurry and go.
“I’ll meet you at the appointed place.”
Hyeonu hung up and quickly moved toward the meeting place in Hongdae.
***
“Hyung, is this really okay? I am anxious... Should we just go?”
“If you want to talk nonsense, leave on your own. Do you want to stop me from getting a job? Then hurry and get out of here.”
Kang Ujong, the former supervisor of JT Telecom, resolutely stopped the whining of Jeong Byeongjin, the former coach of JT Telecom and his close younger brother. He was in a hurry. He hadn’t been playing around for only a day or two. He had already spent nearly half a year without doing anything. Kang Ujong could survive during this time due to the money he had saved up, but thinking about the future, he had to find a job as soon as possible.
Then he received a call from a past relationship. This time, it was the opposite of the past. Back then, Kang Ujong had initiated contact and arranged a meeting. It was the other way around this time. Of course, some things hadn’t changed.
‘The fact that he is superior hasn’t changed.’
Even back then, the other party was in the superior position. Kang Ujong almost kneeled down when he made the request, but his offer was calmly rejected. This time, the person was giving Kang Ujong a chance.
“If you shut your mouth and stay still, you will also get a job. We have to work. How long are you going to keep playing around? It is time to work,” Kang Ujong said.

“Still... Honestly, is there a team who will give the coaching staff such favorable conditions these days?” Jeong Byeongjin questioned.
“It is Crescent Moon. It isn’t anyone else. Why not?” Kang Ujong replied.
Jeong Byeongjin shut his mouth. He was only just hearing about who he was meeting today.
“Why are you only telling me this now?”
“I only half believed it myself.”
Right when Jeong Byeongjin tried to speak again, someone appeared in front of the two people.
“It has been a long time, Supervisor Kang. Coach Jeong, I’ve also haven’t seen you for a long time.” Hyeonu appeared and waved to the two people.
“Yes, it has been a long time, Gang Hyeonu-ssi. No, player Gang Hyeonu.” Kang Ujong got up from his seat and held out his right hand to Hyeonu.
“What player? I am retired now. Call me ‘Coach’ or ‘Alley Leader’. You can also just call me by my name,” Hyeonu said while shaking Kang Ujong’s hand.
“Then I’ll call you ‘Coach’. Coach Gang,” Kang Ujong replied.
“Yes, Supervisor Kang.” Hyeonu nodded.
He would have to be called that in the future anyway. Hyeonu didn’t think that Kang Ujong would reject his proposal. After all, it was right for him to call Hyeonu ‘Coach’ if he became Crescent Moon’s supervisor.
“My CEO is coming here too. We’ll proceed once he arrives,” Hyeonu said.
At this moment, Moon Doyeong appeared with white breath blowing in from the door of the cafe. “We are meeting for the first time. I’m Moon Doyeong, the owner of the Crescent Moon club.”
Moon Doyeong was trying to manage his facial expressions. He never expected that the new supervisor of Crescent Moon that Hyeonu mentioned would be Kang Ujong.
‘I can’t believe the person he introduced to me is Kang Ujong.’
Regardless of what anyone said, Kang Ujong was the best supervisor in South Korea. People said that he was the reason why JT Telecom managed to beat UK Heights consistently. As if to prove this, JT Telecom only showed a similar combat power to UK Heights as soon as Kang Ujong left the team.
“Nice to meet you. I am Kang Ujong.”
Kang Ujong wasn’t as surprised as Moon Doyeong. He had no reason to be surprised. It was natural for Moon Doyeong to be here.
“I never expected that the person Coach Gang introduced me to would be Kang Ujong.”
“I never dreamed that Coach Gang Hyeonu would contact me. It is amazing that he kept my number for so long.”
“I won’t beat around the bush. I want you to be the supervisor of Crescent Moon.” Moon Doyeong sat down and immediately got to business.
There was no need to hesitate after confirming the person in question was Kang Ujong. He was someone whose skills had already been verified.
“The conditions will be exactly the same as what you received from JT Telecom.” Moon Doyeong offered the conditions before Kang Ujong said anything. Now Kang Ujong had no choice. He had to choose between two options: yes or no. JT Telecom had an overwhelming salary and welfare compared to any other team in South Korea. It was virtually impossible to ask for better treatment.
“Um... This friend next to me...” Kang Ujong had nothing to say. The conditions were better than he expected, so he had no reason to refuse. However, he worried a bit about Jeong Byeongjin sitting next to him.
“Coach Jeong Byeongjin-nim will naturally receive the same conditions. We will guarantee exactly what you received at JT Telecom,” Moon Doyeong said with a smile. Jeong Byeongjin was also a talent that couldn’t be missed. No one else handled the players as well as Jeong Byeongjin. He was a very competent coach in terms of communicating with the players.
“I would like to thank you in advance, CEO Moon-nim.” Kang Ujong held out a hand to Moon Doyeong.
“That is what I want to say. I hope to get along well with you in the future, Supervisor Kang Ujong-nim,” Moon Doyeong replied.
Hyeonu watched this scene and pulled something out of his bag. “Then let’s get the contracts signed first. The salary and contract period are empty, so you can write it down directly.”
He had merely deleted a few words from the contracts that the Crescent Moon players had received.
“Coach Gang...?” Moon Doyeong looked surprised by Hyeonu’s thorough readiness. It was as amazing as Kang Ujong being here. He never imagined this person would come with the contracts.
“CEO-nim, you can look at it as well.” Hyeonu also put down a contract in front of Moon Doyeong. Moon Doyeong immediately took a contract and handed the rest over. There was nothing particularly strange in it. It was the same contract he knew except for a few blank spaces.
“I think we can proceed with this contract,” Moon Doyeong said.
Right after, Jeong Byeongjin and Kang Ujong filled in the blank spaces in the contract. They wrote down the annual salary they received from JT Telecom previously and finished signing. Moon Doyeong added his own signature to the contract between Jeong Byeongjin’s and Kang Ujong’s contracts.
The contract signing was over.
“I’m sorry, but I’ll talk about work right away,” Hyeonu spoke up after seeing the two contracts in front of Moon Doyeong.
“Already...?”
“No, what...”
Kang Ujong and Jeong Byeongjin were dumbfounded and couldn’t speak properly. There was no place that did work this way. They had taken less than five seconds to sign the contract. Then what was this?
“It is urgent. You don’t have to worry too much because it isn’t hard or anything,” Hyeonu assured while shaking his hand. From now on, the thing that the two of them had to do wasn’t difficult.
Hyeonu asked, “Do you know anyone around you who can be a player for Crescent Moon?”
All the two of them had to do was fill up the members of Crescent Moon.

Tabula Rasa : An Unbound Adventure
It starts as many things do: a clean slate, an empty page. What once was set in stone and wholly writ is gone, and all that's left is the vague notion of absence, a fullness lacking. The feeling of being tetherless, pathless, without direction or responsibility is something many would find terrifying. Others might find it freeing - an opportunity to strike out on new adventures and explore the unknown.Either way, first they have to figure out where they are and how they leave. ====== My first novel on this platform! An avid GameLit/LitRPG fan, I decided to start writing this when I seemed to exhaust all of my options for well reviewed content on the site! Inspiration for the world/general feeling is a mix of Azarinth Healer, Abyssal Road Trip, Winterborn, and the Power of Ten series, with a strong reliance on 3.5 and PF1 frameworks as a scaffold for the world. I see Arc 1 as a Robinson Crusoe style coming to terms scenario, lots of exploration of the System, the MC's options, the island and encounters with the denizens and visitors of the Timeless Isle, with a non-zero amount of introspection around their long term goals. I'll publish as frequently as I'm able but don't have a regular cadence planned at the moment.
