It took Liu Longwei a total of five minutes to freshen up before going down to see his wife.

He had a little talk with the doctor to understand his wife's condition, and things to be done to help, and also the processes she would be subjected to during labor to ensure the safe delivery of their child, and also that she is safe and no other complications.

Having understood the situation more clearly, Liu Longwei glanced at Chen Lihua to see that the peaceful expression on her face has been replaced by a disturbing look.

"Doctor, what's wrong with her, is she in pain?." Liu Longwei inquired concernedly.

The doctor smiled as she replied, "We can put it that way, but it's more appropriate to say that she's having contractions."

"Oh!." Liu Longwei exclaimed in response.

The doctor put on her gloves as she said to him, "I want to check the dilation, and also the baby. It will be a bit painful and might wake her up."

Right after saying this, the doctor raised Chen Lihua's legs 🦵 and asked Liu Longwei to hold them so they wouldn't slip.

Next, she put three of her fingers inside Chen Lihua with her gaze on the monitor.

"You can see the baby's head there, and that's my fingers right there, trying to reach his crown." The doctor said to Liu Longwei while pointing at the monitor.

Liu Longwei also focused his gaze on the monitor with his hands still holding his wife's legs that were being propped up.

When the doctor's fingers got to the baby's crown, Chen Lihua moaned in pain as she moved her legs.

"Okay. That's right." The doctor said as took her fingers out and removed the gloves before tossing them to the wastebasket at the corner in the room.

"Everything is fine, the baby's crown is mature enough to make an exit. Mr. Liu, your wife is funny. At this stage, she doesn't need to wear so many things but she didn't forget to cover up." The doctor said to Liu Longwei as she gazed at the sleeping Chen Lihua with a patient smile on her face.

The doctor said this because Chen Lihua wore her underwear (bra, pant, and tight) beneath the dress, someone that was ready to give birth, it wasn't necessary to cover up like that.

"She has always been that way." Liu Longwei said with a doting smile on his face.

The doctor smiled as she cleaned Chen Lihua up and brought her legs down.

"Her water hasn't broken yet, but that will happen soon. So her labor would have to be induced now." The doctor said, giving him a meaningful glance.

They have already talked about it, and she told him the two ways her labor can be induced, the natural way (which is through sec) and the artificial way (which is through injections).

And Liu Longwei accepted to try a natural way. But if it doesn't work, then she can be given an injection to induce labor.

"I understand." Liu Longwei said in reply as he held his wife's hand and gazed at her with some other thoughts running through his mind.

The doctor came over to check Chen Lihua's blood pressure. "Her blood pressure is still high. But there is hope that it would come down when she sees you."

Three minutes later, Chen Lihua yawned with her eyes still closed as she tried to adjust her position but felt her hand being held by something, so she opened her eyes slowly, but the light in the room was too bright for her eyes, especially now that she was just waking up from sleep.

So she covered her eyes with her other free hand, as she tried to slowly see what was holding the other hand.

"Doctor?." She called out in a soft tone.

"Yes, I'm here, Mrs. Liu. Do you need something?." The doctor replied as she glanced at Chen Lihua before looking at the paper records in her hands.

That voice sounded far from the bed, so Chen Lihua knew she wasn't the one holding her hand, so she decided to open her eyes, to see things for herself.

As she slowly took her hand off her eyes while slowly opening them, she saw a familiar figure, but her sight was blurry, so she had to wipe her eyes before glancing at the figure before her.

"Lon... Longwei?!." She called out in surprise as she tried to sit up in a hurry.

Liu Longwei noticed the rapid movement and immediately helped her because stopping her wouldn't work.

"Sweetheart, relax I'm here." He said as she helped her to sit up, on the bed. He wanted to adjust the bed so she can relax very well, but Chen Lihua wouldn't let him even though she uncomfortable.

So he tried to comfort her while the doctor picked up the remote and adjusted the upper side of the bed.

And after that, she gave signs to the other two nurses to leave the room with her.

"Doctor, please inform my mother to start preparing food for us. I will come and get the food myself in an hour." Liu Longwei said to the doctor.

"No troubles." The doctor said as she left and closed the door behind her.

"Longwei, you're back? And you're fine." Chen Lihua said as tears started to stream down her eyes while she touched his face.

"Yes I'm back sweetheart, and I'm fine. Please don't cry, it will hurt me too." Liu Longwei said as he wiped the tears away from her eyes.

"You don't know how much I missed you. I thought something bad happened to you, and I couldn't bring myself to care about myself and our child. At that point, I didn't think I would be able to live without you." Chen Lihua said as she choked on her sobs

"Sshhh... Sweetheart, don't say that. I'm here now. I'm sorry for making you worry, forgive me." Liu Longwei apologized.

"No...no don't apologize to me, you didn't do anything wrong. I should be the one apologizing to you for treating you badly and giving you troubles because of the pregnancy, I'm so sorry. And I can't bear for anything bad to happen to you." Chen Lihua said as more tears streamed down her cheeks.

"Sweetheart, I don't hold anything against you. You are my wife, the woman I fell in love with at first sight. You didn't even need to put any effort to make me fall for you. The mother of our children, I love you so much, and you thee word to me." Liu Longwei said to her as he gazed into her eyes.

Their confessions to one another showed that their love was ever so strong and boundless.
