《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 15: Silent poison

In the market there were a lot of people talking and whispering among themselves, some of them even pointed at someone that was walking and said something like “ It is him”. The person the person was pointing at was wearing the ravens academy’s uniform. He had black hair tied in a man bun, but the most important thing about him is the mask that covers his face. It was a white skull mask with fangs instead of teeth, the only thing the crowd could see was his eyes, those brown eyes that had a glow of desire. Desire for knowledge, desire for power.
That person was of course Adrius, he was going around the market so he could buy the ingredients for the poison. It has been 1 day since he made the deal with Linda.
He stopped wearing his sword because he has new methods for attacking and it is a lot more efficient, but he still has his dagger hidden under his jacket because it is a lot easier to hide and can be used unexpectedly.
‘ I should find the ingredients for the silent poison fast, I need to study creeping darkness more’ He has bought creeping darkness 3 months ago and still hasn’t made any noticeable progress, he now understood why no one wants to buy it. It was just complicated.
After 2 hours of wondering, Adrius bought every ingredient he needed, he then headed to his room to start making the poison.
Adrius got to his room and opened it, walked in, took off his mask and started to make the poison because this poison takes over 12 hours to make.
He started by opening the recipe that he got from Croft, Croft gave it to him because it is not dangerous to him right now because he has healing potions in stock so it can’t kill him.
It wasn’t a poison that can kill you if you touch it accidentally but it is a silent one. It destroys the cells one by one and creates poisonous cells instead. And when the target finally notices then it is too late because the poison has gone everywhere.

He put on his lab coat, gloves and glasses and started to work.
He took out a snake out of its cage. It was a normal snake, he opened its mouth with his shadow hand and started to draw venom from its mouth.
Adrius has learnt to use his shadow hands when he works. It is a lot easier to have 3 sometimes even 4 arms.
The snake couldn’t escape the hand's strength and watched its venom getting drawn out by a man in white.
After 2 minutes Adrius has drawn every bit of venom in the snake's poison chamber so he put the snake in the cage again.
He started a fire and put the snake’s venom on the fire, he was waiting for it to boil. He then started to put some ingredients like a lizard's skin, snake blood and many others. The mix started to boil and Adrius put the led on so it won’t fill the whole room.
He then took off his clothes, sat down and started to cultivate. He could feel the magic power in the air he then started to draw them into his body.
After 4 hours Adrius opened his eyes, his eyes had joy in them; he has increased his magic power. He doesn’t know how much until he visits Croft but he was sure that he has achieved 13 points.
He then stood up and walked to the working place in his room to check on the poison situation. After checking and finding nothing wrong he started to train his spells, he first created a hand It was the size of a teenager's hand, he hasn’t mastered the spell still but it was enough for him right now.
He then started to put magic into his feet and started to move at a fascinating speed. After deactivating shadow step he activated dark arrow and an arrow that was a meter in length appeared out of nowhere in front of Adrius, he can make the arrow the size he wishes to. Out of the three spells he can now shadow step was the most spell he was efficient in, because it doesn’t need a lot of focus or imagination to activate unlike dark arrow or shadow hand.

As for creeping darkness he couldn’t even activate the spell because he can’t connect the steps in the book to reality. It was normal for magus to spend tens maybe hundreds of years studying a spell. But Adrius didn’t have tens or hundreds of years to live because he is still rank 1 magus apprentice and he can only live to 80 like normal humans do, until he reaches rank 3 magus apprentice and his maximum age expand to 150 years then can he spend time on spells or these long term experiments.
So he has to focus on other spells that he can make progress in instead of the one he can’t even activate, so he made a decision to fully put his focus on creeping darkness when he feels himself comfortable with the other three spells. He still would study creeping darkness everyday but he won’t give it the same time as the other spells because he can use the 3 spells but he can’t use creeping darkness. Another 4 hours went with Adrius training, he has spent 3 hours on his 3 spells one hour each and 1 hour on creeping darkness.
He then walked to the poison and checked on it, it had only 4 hours until it’s done. So in these 4 hours he figured sleep will be good because it was already 00:00 am he then went to his bed and slept but he had a timer like device beside his head and when it hits 4 hours he'll wake up.
After 4 hours
The device rang and Adrius woke up, he walked immediately to the poison to contain it before it spoils.
He took out a small tube and opened it, then started to channel his magic power around the poison and put it into the tube. It didn’t take him too long because he has done it a lot so when it finished putting it in a tube he put a led on and said something in Xyron.
“Seal!” Said Adrius in Xyron, he has learned how to use Xyron in potion making because a lot of the advanced potions use Xyron language to get their effect. This what Adrius did was the basic which is sealing, it can keep the potion sealed until the person says the word “Open!” in Xyron.
After sealing the poison he put it on the table and went back to sleep.
In the morning he called Phil and told him to contact Linda to get her poison.
He then went back to the same place he met Linda in, after waiting for a while Linda came in. She was nothing like the first time he saw her. She had a dark circle around her eyes and she looked very tense.
“Welcome, please sit” Said Adrius
“ Shut up and give me the antidote, your poison has weakened me so much that it is hard for me to walk!” Said Linda in the best threatening voice she could master.
“Sit first or I will smash the fucking antidote now” Threatend Adrius in a cold voice, when she heard this Linda sat down fast and looked very pitiful.
‘ To think that me tricking her brain into believing she was poisoned will make her show symptoms of poison is fascinating’ Wondered Adrius internally
“Where is my money?”
“ Here it is, now can you please give the antidote I think my body will fail any second?” Plead Linda with tears in her eyes.
“ Here you go, and this is the poison you want just say “open” in Xyron and you can open the led” Explained Adrius while giving her the poison and antidote, and taking the magical stones from her.
After getting the antidote she drank it immediately, then she walked out.
Inside Adrius was there with an evil grin on his face, he had poisoned her!

Wulfgard: The Hunt Never Ends
In the civilized world of humans, 'monsters' have all but passed into legend. But when something goes bump in the night, when people begin to disappear, when a dark mystery begins to haunt even the most peaceful villages, there is only one organization to turn to: the Hunters. The Venatori. Having lived a life of discipline and service, former soldier Caiden Voros finds something even worse than the wars of humans: the monsters that hunt them. Horrors yet unknown even to him and his many scars await in the claws, talons, fangs, and mysterious powers of creatures so far beyond humans that he must dedicate himself entirely to the art of slaying them. Harboring a secret of his own and in a constant struggle to find answers while maintaining his sanity, however, Caiden begins to ask the age-old question... Who is truly worse, the monsters or the Men? Wulfgard: The Hunt Never Ends is an episodic collection of stories, each of which stand on its own, but they also build upon each other in a consecutive order, bridging a gap between a novel and short story collection. These stories follow monster hunter Caiden Voros and his partner Gwen Vergil as they embark on tales of mystery, horror, and adventure to track down monsters - the living dead, beast-men, shape-shifters, spirits, and many more - that would do harm to innocent lives and, by whatever means necessary, put a stop to their terrors. Their motives, however, are not always what they seem.

Cinder Roots (Undergoing a Rewrite)
This novel is currently undergoing a major rewrite, as I noticed several plot points that needed to be revamped. I'll leave the chapters I've posted here to anyone curious to see how everything started, but I'll be posting the rewritten story as a new novel in the future. The characters will be the same, but the journey will be more understandable and hopefully, a lot more fun to read. -------- First, everything was fire, it killed, it consumed, and it gave him life. He was just a tree, born in the biggest forest that remained in the world, full of dryads, naiads, elves and treants, but he was alone. He couldn’t see. He couldn’t talk. Curiosity plagued him. He dreamed of wandering the land, but could only wonder what stood outside the reach of his roots. The tree was tired of waiting. He decided to not just dream, but to act. How could he survive against a invading empire, a grand conspiracy that threatened to shake the foundations of the world, and the raw danger that lies within these woods? With pure determination. Warning - There are quite a few POV changes in the first chapters, but that'll change after the introduction is done, as I'll be focusing on the MC perspective only.
