《Magus Of Darkness》Chapter 36: Unexpected help

Oliver was attacking like crazy, he had the advantage over Adrius who had less power and less magic power. So the whole time Adrius was running away and trying to escape any coming spells.
“Adrius! I think it is enough playing around, you clearly don’t have enough magic and you are badly hurt. So just surrender and accept death, I will make it easy I swear with my name” Said Oliver, he was mostly okay, but if you look close you could see some sweat on his forehead.
“ Surrender? Go fuck yourself!” Screamed a bleeding Adrius, he was standing 10 meters away from Oliver’s position. He was in a mess, his left hand was chopped off, there was a hole in his chest area. His clothes were torn apart and some of his burned flesh appeared, but the only thing that didn’t break was Demon’s Wrath, it had some cracks on it but nothing serious.
Without Demon’s Wrath Adrius would die a hundred times, it has a lot of spells and gave Adrius the time to escape.
Oliver had a disappointed look: “ As you say, I would kill you, by burning you alive”
Oliver then started to cast a spell, it was a fire element spell type. Oliver’s right hand light with fire and a hand made of fire appeared behind him. It was the size of a pony, and the heat it gave made Adrius shiver.
‘ This is the end! I don’t have enough magic to escape and even if I have Oliver wouldn’t let me.’
Oliver punched the air with his right hand and the fire fist behind him moved toward Adrius with terrifying speed.
Adrius stood there waiting for his death: ‘ Well it looks like I’m really going back to the endless darkness today.’
The fist came closer and closer, Adrius’s skin was being burned by the heat. The fist was only a meter away from Adrius when something happened that made Adrius’s mouth open in shock. Demon’s Wrath was glowing and it stopped the spell. The spell then disappeared.

Demon’s wrath broke and the pieces got together to form a ghost, the ghost had a young appearance with black hair and brown eyes. Adrius recognized him immediately, how can he not? It was the creator of his mask and academy, the ghost was Lafaz’.
The ghost looked around and then saw Adrius and Oliver, he looked at Adrius: “ You boy, you wore Demon’s Wrath didn’t you?”
Adrius bowed and answered, this was his patriarch and a rank 3 magus. Even if it is his will, he can crush him with a thought: “ Yes my lord, I’m Adrius Caseo of the raven academy”
“Show me your raven tattoo!”
Adrius extended his hand and showed him his raven tattoo that he got when he first entered the academy.
Lafaz nodded: “ Good you are really from my academy, this is only a will my main body put in Demon’s Wrath so it can protect the owner of the mask in a life or a death situation. I can only make two moves so choose carefully, do you want me to kill this punk or to make you escape or to heal you?”
Adrius didn’t have to think a lot: “ Kill this punk and heal me, also can you fetch me his soul. I want to eat it”
Lafaz laughed: “ I like you kid, you are ready to eat human souls to get stronger. Your determination is admirable.”
Lafaz then turned toward Oliver, Oliver was standing in his place, his face was whiter than paper. He wanted to move, he wanted to escape but he couldn't. It was like a chain stopped him in place. He knew what the chain was, it was his fear. He was afraid to the point of him not being able to move a muscle.
Lafaz then moved a finger in a line and Oliver’s head started rolling on the ground, his eyes filled with fear and disbelief.

Then lafaz made a come motion with his fingers and a white sphere came to him, he then gave it to Adrius who put it in a ball he always kept on him.
“ Now to healing you” said Lafaz
He then started to cast a spell, it was a darkness type spell. The dark light covered Adrius, Adrius could feel his injuries healing and could feel a new arm was growing in place of the old one.
Time went by, and when the dark light disappeared Adrius looked like his old self, without burns and with a new arm.
Lafaz then said after Adrius got out: “ Now my goal is done and I have achieved what my original body wanted. Time for me to go”
Then he started to disappear, and then only the pieces of Demon’s Wrath were on the ground.
Adrius didn’t know what to do now, how can he go back to the academy? It would probably take him months if he walked or used anything other than an airship. Even if he made it back, he knew that Sophie would give false truth so it seems like she left him because he was injured or he betrayed her.
Thus making it harder for him to come back, but an idea came to his mind. He took out his contact book and contacted Croft.
Croft came back to the academy 4 days ago. After waiting for some time, Croft’s voice could be heard coming from the contact book.
“Adrius, what is it?” Asked Croft
Adrius started to explain to him what happened and didn’t leave the Lafaz thing and told Croft about it. Because if he didn’t tell him and only told him he killed a rank 3 magus apprentice while he was rank 2 then it would make him suspicious.
“ Oh I see, this whore betrayed my student and it wants to stay alive. She is a bold one, also you have met with the patriarch? It is a big deal and the headmaster probably would like to talk with you about it.”
“ Thank you professor”
“ Hmm, anyhow I just contacted the headmaster and told him about everything and Lafaz thing. Expect an airship to arrive in 5-6 days. But don’t stay in your place, head toward the academy. Because the pegasus academy definitely will hunt you.”
“Understood professor” Said Adrius while closing the call, he did not mind Lafaz’ interaction getting out but he did not want the truth of him knowing the origin and using the mask without cons to get out. And he was really lucky that Lafaz’ ghost didn’t know he was not of the magus world, because Adrius knew death would be the lesser evil if Lafaz knew about his origin.
“And I cheated death again, sometimes I feel myself to be the main character in a cheap novel that you could find on the internet in my old world. Thinking about it I really do look one of them” Adrius was not a person who reads such novels a lot but he liked reading and he tried a couple of these webnovels in his past life.
Adrius then remembered the memory he always kept hidden, he was in an endless darkness and no one was around him.
“ I’m not afraid anymore of you, do you hear me!” Screamed Adrius into the darkness.
“ I will reach immortality because I want to, not because I’m afraid of you!”

Reincarnated as a Warlock with zero skill
My previous life was just as boring as yours. I was a marketing manager for a flooring company. The biggest challenge? Would the latest colour be called "Grey Oak" or "Oak Grey". Then, tragedy. I was struck down in the prime of my life by a negligent delivery driver and a pallet of laminate flooring - which is significantly heavier than you think. So there I was, smeared on the floor, absorbed in my own self pity. Where would I go? Heaven? Hell. Did I care? Apparently that was not what fate had in store for me. Reborn in a world of dragons and fantasy, I became a Warlock. A pretty darn important one too. The problem, I had little to no affinity to magic and I spent most of my time doing my best to avoid danger. Danger however, would not avoid me. So, with my new life as an amazing Warlock you'd think it would be easy street right? Wrong. Forces gather to move against the Kingdom I am sworn to protect and, whilst my inward allegiance is to whomever is the victor, outwardly I must lead the resistance against the invaders. With my skilled companions Asha - a mage that can actually do magic and Torg - a swordsman sworn to protect me, I can only hope that they distract the enemy long enough for me to run away.

And I made the character progression by rolling the dice :) might affect the story progression if I have a bad luck. Disclaimer. MC is a Japanese and high school student. MC is a jerk. MC is a smoker. MC has an anti-hero attitude. MC is a short-tempered bastard.
