On a big road, one can see multiple carriages getting pulled by horses, bulls and other animals.

“ Ah, finally we are arriving at The Firebird city” Said a person sitting inside a carriage.

Another one answered him: “ Yes, this was a long journey. But don’t forget that money will help us a lot.”

The person lowered his voice when he was talking about the “profit”, he then looked at a corner of the carriage. There was a person sitting there, he wore a black robe and had the hood on his head. They couldn’t see his face, but only heard his voice when he spoke. They met him 4 days ago, he was walking on the road heading to The Firebird city. And their goodhearted Father welcomed him to join the journey.

One of the brothers spoke in a low voice so the mysterious person couldn't hear them: “ Frankly, this person gives me the creeps. It’s like every time he looks at me he sees an ant or something less than an ant. And that is not normal for a normal person to have. So please don’t fuck with him and let this journey pass in peace.”

The other brother spoke also in a low voice: “ Don’t worry Ricky, I will never do such a thing. This man is just too weird, that's all. I’m curious about who he is and why he didn't talk for the last 3 days?”

The brother’s conversation slowly turned to talk about girls and who they were going to meet in the city.

The hooded figure was silent as always but if the two knew what he was thinking about then they would’ve pissed their pants.

‘ So the airship will arrive at The Firebird city in two days, thankfully the city lord is a subordinate to the raven academy so it will be easier for me to hide the airship’ Thought Adrius, he was found by this family 4 days ago and decided to come with them. He has set a meeting point with the airship in The Firebird city which was not that far from the Lykos family lands. Of course if he wanted to walk the whole way then it would probably take him one and a half week to do it. But in a carriage it only takes three to four days.

“ Boys be ready we will arrive in the city in 30 minutes” A voice rang inside the carriage, it was the father of these two boys.

Adrius was ready, and when he heard these words he was excited because he would finally return to his original place. The magus world, he does not hate mortals but when you are a magus your life will change.

You would probably prefer the company of people like you than of those weaker than you.

The past few days Adrius had a problem that gave him headache, how will he deal with Sophie? She was the prodigy of the academy and was loved by everyone. Also she was a descendant of the Gaius family, a magus family that was a part of the Raven academy. The Raven academy was ruled by the headmaster who was a rank 2 magus, and under him there are the big three. Which are families that support and are a part of the academy. And the Gaius family is a part of those 3.

So Adrius’s revenge can’t be achieved right now, because if he killed Sophie the whole Gaius family will try to kill him. And Croft can’t do anything about it because the Gaius family is a big force which has resources and power. So Adrius is asking for death if he killed Sophie without a reason, maybe the other two families will like the idea of Sophie’s death because that will take the pressure off them. Sophie has a rank 5 talent and has an impressive future, and that puts a lot of pressure on them.

Also Adrius is pretty sure that Sophie has other things that could protect her, but she didn’t want to expose them. And probably that scroll was one of them. Adrius knew what it was, it was called spell scroll, the magus families usually gave it to their most important people. It usually contains one spell of an official magus. In Sophie’s case it was a movement spell. But the downside for this thing is that the spell is a one use thing.

Adrius actually understood Sophie’s logic of leaving him, if he was in her situation he would do the same thing. But he was still angry, not at Sophie. But at himself!

How couldn’t he see that she was going to betray him, he actually was angry at himself. He was acting like a teenager, maybe his body is, but he was a man in his thirties. Why was he acting like an edgelord teenager, he was a scientist not a serial killer. He would kill for benefits, science, experiments, power. But not for pleasure, what is the difference between him and the animals if he killed for pleasure.

‘Get yourself together and start to act like an adult, you are not a teenager, you are only in the body of one.’

30 minutes passed quickly, and the carriage was at the front of a big gate. The gate was fire red with a bird made of flame drawn on it.

There were two guards outside the gate, they wore heavy metal armour, Adrius could sense that both of them were on the verge of advancing into a knight.

Adrius then walked to enter the city, the father called for him to stop. The two guards drew their swords and stood in front of Adrius: “ Identify yourself and give the entrance fee or fuck off” Said one of the guards .

Adrius didn’t speak but he extended his hand, it was covered with the robe. Then the robe was drawn by an invisible force, showing the Raven tattoo on his hand. When the two guards and the family saw this scene they were shaking with fear. It was a magus!

The two guards immediately kneeled down on the ground and begged: “ Great magus we are sorry for our impoliteness please spare us”

Then a force forcefully made them stand up: “ It’s ok, you were only doing your job. Now I’m here to meet with the city lord, take me to him.”

Both guards said in harmony: “ Yes my lord”

Then one of them walked with Adrius and the other continued doing his normal job. He will definitely tell his kid that he met a magus today.

For mortals both official magus and magus apprentice are things you cannot play with, so they consider them both a sacred thing. So they will call a magus apprentice a magus and an official magus a magus. It was not a sign of disrespect but they didn’t know better. Because the magus world is very different from the mortal world. Maybe they live in the same world but they are not the same people.

Inside the city Adrius was following the guard, the city was full of life. People of all races were walking, there was beastkin, elves, and other races. Of course most of these races were slaves, but the magus world actually has more races than just humans. There are elves, dark elves, kobolds and a lot more. These races were treated better than the races that came from outside the magus world. They can join academies and cultivate, because they are part of the magus world and if the magus world loses then they are doomed.

Adrius suddenly stopped his steps when he saw something that caught his eye. There was a sign that said “Slave market” Adrius needed slaves for his experiments and he had a lot of money so why not buy some slaves?
