Chasing After My Wife Chapter 239

Jillyanna arrived back to the hospital just like usual. She put down her things on the couch and washed her hands before sitting on the chair beside Travis.
"I hired new employees today." Jillyanna mumbled while holding his hand with hers. She could already feel his thin body beneath her warm touch. "I am a bit tired for today but I am still happy that I am able to help you in a little way. Will you be proud of me?"
Many doctors were proud of her undying love. For some, they will give up after a week of no response from their love ones. However, for Jillyanna, she didn't show any sign of surrender. Everyday, she was fighting for them. She took care of her health and her baby; and make sure to talk to Travis about many things.
Everyday, before going to sleep, she will always wipe his body with alcohol. She will then change his hospital gown to make him feel refreshed, even though Travis won't feel it.
'Knock! Knock! Knock!'
Jillyanna turned her head and found Eliezer standing at the door while Top checked on him to make sure he wasn't bringing anything harmful.
Eliezer didn't mind the spot check since he knew how cautious Jillyanna when it comes to her husband. "Can I get inside?" he asked her to show respect for her security measure.
"You are back! Come in." Jillyanna kissed Travis before going to the couch to receive her guest. "How are you?"
"I am good." Eli replied to her. His smile was genuine but there was a little bit of sadness in his voice. "I heard about what happened from Cielo but I was out of the country. I just got back this morning and found out that you went to work. How are you?"

"Still fighting for my family." Jillyanna responded in her soft voice. "A little bit sad but I am fighter so I am doing fine."
"That is good to know. I was worried when I heard the news. At the same time, I am glad that you finally found the man who you truly loves you." He was really true to his words and wishes but deep inside, there was a slight pang in his heart.
He knew her since they were kids. He liked her since they were kids. He cherished her since they were kids. He looked for her when she left. He waited for her and longed for her. In the end, it was still a one-sided love. His love for her was something that can't be forgotten easily and he wasn't sure if he can even love again.
Jillyanna took a breath and released a sigh. "If I knew it would be like this, I would have told him my feelings much earlier. I would have agreed to his proposal much earlier. I would never try to escape from him." she looked at Eliezer's eyes directly with turbulent emotions. "Eli, I regretted it that I took my time and had him wait for me. I regretted it that I didn't react on time. I regretted it it that I didn't take care of myself and had him use his body to shield me." She controlled herself and made sure that her tears won't fall in front of him.
Eliezer reached out his hands, trembling yet warm, and gently ruffled her hair. "I can only imagine how difficult it is for you. I have never been to your situation but I can tell the pain you've been through. Jill, there is no use crying over spilled milk. Just keep moving forward. We are all here for you."

"Thanks Eli. Your words lifted my mood a bit." Jillyanna smiled genuinely this time. She shifted her gaze and looked towards Travis. "That man is the only person I will ever love in my life."
Eliezer just watched her eyes full of love for the man lying on the hospital bed. Though it hurts, Eliezer still smiled at her.
He only stayed for an hour since he had to go home and rest as well. Jillyanna sent him out before taking a rest too.
On the other hand...
"Any update?" Valkyrie asked Brown as they sat on the couch beside each other. "You looked worried."
Brown leaned his head on the back of the couch and covered his eyes with his arms to block the blinding light of the fluorescent light.
"I received another text from the mysterious helper today telling me that I will get access tomorrow on the secret lab. I am bit afraid that something might happen." Brown stated with his eyes closed, his frown obvious and his lips were set on a straight line.
Valkyrie understood his worry since this was a mission that could involve Jillyanna as well. Silently, he grabbed Brown's waist with both hands and lifted him up before placing him on his lap.
Brown didn't refuse or argue with him but he was shifting his eyes from different things as long as he can avoid Valkyrie's gaze.
"I will be on standby if anything happens, make sure to call me. Don't do anything reckless." Valkyrie reminded him before placing a gentle peck on Brown's lips. "I will rescue you as soon as I can."
Brown was drowning on his own emotions, getting redder every seconds that passed by while he was sitting on Valkyrie's lap.
Brown leaned closer and placed his head on the crook of Valkyrie's shoulder and neck. 'He smells so good.' he thought to himself while inhaling his scent silently. "Are you really okay with me?" He asked.
Valkyrie felt the hot breath on his neck, igniting the flame within him but he remained sane while feeling the warmth of Brown's body pressed against him.
"I am more than okay with you. I don't need anyone else but you." Valkyrie whispered softly while wrapping his arms around Brown's waist. "Please keep in mind that I have never loved anyone but you and only you. Now and Forever."
"I think I am willing to give us a chance but Matt, if you ever break my heart again, I will never let you see me. Not even my shadow." Brown admitted, still leaning on him with his eyes closed and blushing face.

Flashback: Siren Song
The year is 1969. Yancy Lazarus—bluesman, gambler, future world-class mage and fix-it man—is just a dumb, unlucky kid serving with the 3rd Battalion 3rd Marines in Vietnam. With just a few weeks left to go until Yancy gets shipped back to the States, he’s just trying to keep his head down and avoid a body bag—no mean feat in Nam. But when his squad is tasked with conducting a routine patrol deep in enemy territory, everything goes to nine kinds of hell, and he quickly sees his chances at survival slipping away. When the radio operators start to pick up some funky, dirty ol’ blues all the way out in the backcountry, it’s a nice change of pace. At least until the men in Yancy’s squad start losing their minds, turning on each other with murderous intent as the music works its deadly power within them. Convinced it’s some kind of new psychological warfare initiative, the squad leader forces the men to push deeper and deeper into the Vietnamese jungle, obsessed with locating the music’s source. What they find, however, isn’t some new technology, but an ancient spirit awoken by the terrible war. Even worse, the music is changing Yancy too, awakening something buried inside of him. Only one thing is certain, nothing is ever going to be the same.See how it all began … *** PRAISE FOR SIREN SONG:Hunter's writing is as low-down, gritty, and insidious as the blues Yancy Lazarus loves. Just like the mysterious music drifting through the jungle toward Yancy's squad, Siren Song will get under your skin and sink its hooks into your mind. —eden Hudson, Author of Halo Bound (the Redneck Apocalypse series) *** Hey everyone, this is James Hunter.
