Brown woke up early to prepare his things for work. Valkyrie was helping him out by placing a mini camera on his pen and necktie.
The day to see what's in the basement had finally come. He will be given one whole day of access to get inside the laboratory and it would be up to him how to get himself out without being found out.
Yesterday, before he slept, he received a blue print of the whole basement. The camera locations were all highlighted since he needed time to avoid them.
"I'll call Lieutenant Colonel to ask if she found someone to hack the system for me. Even if I am skillful, I am not good with computer programming and I don't want to risk my life from being seen." Brown mentioned, holding his phone while dialing Winter's number right beside Valkyrie.
Valkyrie didn't say much but he informed Jillyanna about the mission today. He also reminded her to be careful since Travis won't be around to protect him, though he knew Jillyanna could kill someone in a second if she really wanted to. She was not someone who grew up with all pampering and care. She was someone who was trained more than what the military trained them to be.
"Lieutenant Colonel, I will be accessing the laboratory around 10 to 12 in the morning. As I can see in the information that was sent to me, not many people will come to the lab around this time. I want your people to hack the system half an hour before the time."
"Not a problem. If a problem arises, make sure to go out as fast as you can. Your life is more important than this mission." Winter told him from the other line since she didn't want to lose a friend over a mission.
After breakfast, Valkyrie sent Brown to work, under the envious gaze of everyone, he kissed his forehead and bid farewell. However, he didn't really go home.
Meters away across the laboratory building, Valkyrie went inside to one of the cafes with best views to make sure that he can respond to Brown if needed. He ordered a black coffee and fiddled on his phone as if he was busy. In fact, he was watching the environment around Brown through the mini cameras he placed on his pen and necktie.

"Morning doc! You look energetic today." It was the same woman who teased them the other day when they walked on their way home.
Brown didn't say anything but he must have smiled because the woman teased him again or perhaps he signaled her something that he didn't want Valkyrie to know.
Just like any other day, Brown started his work. When he received a signal that their IT specialist was almost done hacking the lab system, Brown walked towards the elevator area to go down the basement.
"Be careful." It was Valkyrie who whispered through his earpiece since he knew the time that Brown will commence his mission to sneak in.
As projected and mentioned on the message he received, there were a couple of people who came in and out of the laboratory in the basement. There was no one who guards the place as well.
Brown made a silent prayer and tapped in bis badge, no alarming sound occured and the sliding metal door opened up for him.
There were three people inside and they didn't even looked at him as if they all knew that only people with access given to then can get inside the place.
Valkyrie gasped at the scene he saw through the cameras. There were so many vertical containers with yellow bubbling liquids in it. Not only that, there were humans inside the container. Brown walked as if he wasn't flustered or surprised with what he saw. He checked on the computers and tried to see if there's anything he can find.
The message he got yesterday included a username and password so he put input the information and got access to one of the computers inside. What he found sent goosebumps all over him.
There was a list of children's name varying in ages as well as adults. There were even pictures of them so Brown copied everything on his small flash drive that Winter gave him on his first day of taking this mission.
As he scrolled through the files, he found that the human bodies inside the huge containers were still alive when they came in this laboratory. Some of them were even doctors of the same building.
"Oh my god! What kind of hell is this place that I came in to?" he murmured to himself while looking around the place and guarding the computer at the same time.

"Did you check patient bay 37? He had his operation yesterday and he was given the new artificial organ." one of the doctors inside the lab asked his colleague who was looking through some information on a folder.
"It was a failure. He died at dawn." Cold and emotionless. The person answered as if they weren't talking about life at all.
The other woman who was with them sighed deeply. "If only they can get their hands on Elizabeth's research. Her research was presented during her senior year in college and many believed her theories and researched. It wasn't even an abstract information because she had experimented her own child with it and now her daughter is alive and kicking."
Brown was stupefied with the information he got. Even Valkyrie was shocked to hear such news. It was beyond their expectation and they were even more worried for Jillyanna if she would know.
This conversation made Brown looked into the humans inside the containers again. He felt sad for the family who lost them and for the poor souls of the owner.
"I heard that her child burned the research papers but they don't believe her. I even heard that she got married but the higher ups asked someone to run over them. Unfortunately, it was only her husband who was currently in critical condition. She's doing well." It was the man who answered again who was still checking some information.
Brown didn't know what he was looking for but he had been spending so much time on that single folder with a bunch of clipped papers.
"Do you think someone's been helping her behind our back?" the woman who asked about the patient earlier spoke up with a curious look.
"I don't think the Summers are crazy." the man laughed faintly. "The child may have the same middle name as them but they weren't blood related. Elizabeth was just an orphan when she was taken by them. Eliminating her and her child wouldn't cause even a ripple of conscience from the old man."
"What a cunning and cold-blooded person." the youngest woman who was working with them spoke up.
"Don't speak badly of yourself." the man snickered as he put down the folder he was holding.
"I am not speaking for myself." the youngest woman retorted with a frown.
"Cold-blooded person describe all of us who worked on this experiment. Don't even think you can come clean just because you didn't do any surgery on those dead children and adults. Contributing your ideas is already causing their death."
Even if it was harsh for the woman, Brown agreed to the man's words. You may not have tainted your hands with their blood but your ideas and intelligence already caused their death.
The three scientists kept on talking about the failed experiment as well as Elizabeth's research. Brown got so much from their conversation while waiting for his download to be completed.
"Let's not tell Jillyanna about this." Valkyrie whispered on his earpiece before sipping the coffee he ordered. It was already his second order of coffee and Brown already spent an hour inside the lab.
"Even if we won't tell her, she would know." Brown mumbled softly while removing the flash drive.
"You should've asked the IT specialist to hack their computers, you know. It would've been easier for you and it won't take time." Valkyrie informed him.
"I did ask them. I sent Winter a message when I got here but she said that they couldn't get past through the security system of the computers. They have tried it before. That is why she gave me a flash drive ahead of time."
"Hey! What are you doing?!" Brown felt like his soul left his body in an instant. He was just logging off the computer he used after erasing all traces of what he browsed. He didn't know anyone might see him.
Valkyrie heard the gruff voice as well and he felt so nervous for Brown. "Just keep calm. Act naturally as if you are really part of them." He comforted him but he, himself, was sweating profusely from anxiety. "Use your medical knowledge and the information you got." He murmured again on his earpiece.

The Last Death Mage
Since time immemorial humanity has always feared and shunned what it didn’t understand. Over time this changed a bit to encompass things that didn’t conform to their thoughts and ideals. Due to humanity’s stubbornness with which the enforced their ideals many lives were lost and changed. When humanity first clashed with monsters and the beings that use magic, this trait caused many bloody fights. Over time the fights escalated into battles and full on war on several occasions. Humanity due to their adaptability and persistence won many of these altercations, causing huge casualties to the magical beings. Humanity did not come out unscathed however; many of the empires and civilizations noted in human history fell due to these battles and wars. Eventually over time humanity and the magical beings came to a sort of agreement. Magic and the beings associated with it faded into the background of history, being relegated to myth and legend. Humanity meanwhile advanced leaps and bounds once magic faded, leading to our current level of civilization. Not all magical beings were content with this, thus they did their own actions and killed or fed on humans. This has led to many organizations to be formed concerning this, on both the side of humanity and the side of magical beings. They regulate and control the use of magic as well as protect humanity from the darker things that are now not but myth to them, but there is a reason humanity instinctually fears the dark. Unfortunately there are always those that are unsatisfied by the status quo, and those that are prejudiced against things that are different. This is a story of a young man who wanted nothing more than to be normal. Unfortunately Fate and the world he lives in do not easily allow that this, thus his life changed, not for the better. Everyone has heard of or read stories about monsters and legends, heroes and villains, this is one such story. Hi, this is my second attempt at a story here, the first was before the major overhaul happened and i lost everything related to that story due to PC troubles. I hope you enjoy this if you dont please leave some constructive criticism in the comments. An Editor and the like will be needed, but I will edit as problems are pointed out and as i proof read. This story will have no set schedule, unless of course I decide to type up a bunch in succession then i will note that in a chapter beforehand. ADDED NOTE: most sexual content will be in Interludes or sub chapters with a .5 attached. Profanity and gore however shall be plenty in the actual story, though the descriptives for the gore may be added later. (For example, in the prologue that gave a hint at what happened to the MC, will be enhanced so that the gore invokes more descriptive/complete mental pictures, though it may wait.) ~Tyroth Gideon
