Chasing After My Wife Chapter 311

"Why are you giving me this heavy responsibility?" Travis complained while hugging her.
Jillyanna reached out her hand and caressed his face. 'He's got stubbles again.' she thought to herself. She really liked the feeling of his stubbles under her palm. "It is not a heavy responsibility. Come to think of it, I've lived my life for 23 years. My chance of survival is very slim. Of course, we know that the doctors would do their best to save me but if worse comes to worst, you have to choose our baby. You have to let her live and experience what we have in life. Don't take the chance away from her."
"What about you? What about me?" This time his tears were out of control. For a man to cry, it must be unbearable to him.
"I'm sorry that I'm letting you make this decision. However, that won't happen soon. I am taking care of myself to make sure that nothing will happen to me until I give birth. I talked to my doctor before and he told me that I can have a surgery after giving birth. I'm fighting for that chance."
Travis didn't say anything anymore. If he was in pain for her, how much pain was she feeling for herself, for the baby and for him? If it was difficult for him, how difficult it would be for her to carry a child for nine months but wasn't even sure if she can see her baby?
Travis wanted to curse the heavens. He wanted to scream and shout the agony of losing her. If he would really lose her, how will he live his life after that. He didn't even want to think about it.
"Let's get some sleep for now. We'll visit the hospital tomorrow for a check up." Travis spoke with shaky voice. He pulled her even closer and rested his face on top of her head.

The next morning, Jillyanna and Travis woke up earlier than usual. Travis dressed her warmly and cooked her food to make sure that she would be able to eat delicious and healthy food.
"Why are you up so early? Are you guys leaving?" Brown who woke up to get a glass of water saw the two of them in the kitchen.
"We will go to the hospital." Jillyanna answered him since Travis was busy cooking.
"Hospital?" The groggy feeling he had earlier instantly disappear. "Why are you visiting the hospital again? Didn't you just visit the hospital for his physical therapy and for your ultrasound?"
"My heart." Jillyanna pointed on the left side of her chest. "He knows it."
Brown placed the glass of water on the table and shifted his gaze to the both of them. "Would you like me to come with you? I am not a surgeon or a heart specialist but I can check the medications and help you with other things when it comes to health."
"Are you sure? Your back or waist doesn't hurt anymore?" Travis asked him with cheeky grin.
"Stop teasing me! Nothing really happened." Brown reasoned out and defended himself.
"Nothing happened but something will happen if you leave without informing Val."
"I'll inform him now. I'll tell him so you guys wait for me. I'll drive the car for you."
"Alright. I'll prepare your breakfast as well. What do you want?" Travis called out to him since he was already running back to his room.
"Sandwich is fine." Brown yelled from the second floor before turning left and got inside their room. Valkyrie was leaning on the headboard while waiting for him. "I'll be going to the hospital with Travis and Jillyanna."

"Why what happened to them?" Valkyrie sat up from his position and watched Brown rummaged their wardrobe to get some clothes.
"Travis knew about Jillyanna's condition so they'll leave for a check up."
"I see. If you go out, what about me?"
"You will stay here. Guard Winter to make sure she won't leave and go to Pantar. You can ask her to help you with the monitoring so that she'll have something to do and not think about stupid things."
"You expect me to do that? She hates me, okay? Are you sending me to my death?" Valkyrie argued back, feeling wronged and abandoned.
Brown didn't answer him but he went directly to the bathroom to take a quick shower, leaving Valkyrie stupefied with the thought of talking to Winter.
When Brown came out again, he was already dressed in a fresh set of clothes while drying his hair. Valkyrie took the hair dryer and helped him with it.
"Do I really have to talk to her? How about I let Shein do it?" Valkyrie opened up again to refuse the task that was given to him.
When his hair wasn't that wet anymore, Brown picked up his long coat and wore it. "If you can keep her occupied and not leave the house, I'll let you do whatever you want tonight."
"Deal." Valkyrie answered immediately. If that's the prize, why not?
Brown left the room but after a few steps, he turned back and walked towards him. He placed a light kiss on his lips before leaving him stunned again.
"Take care of the house while we're gone." Brown reminded him as he descended down the stairs.
Valkyrie touched his lips in a daze. It was the first time that Brown took the initiative to kiss him and he was so elated he wasn't able to react immediately.
"He kissed me?! He kissed me! He did!" He was mumbling these words when Jackie came out of her room and saw him standing with a day dreaming expression.
"Go back inside your room if you still want to dream about him." Jackie's words pulled him back to reality.
"Ahh! Diamond-hearted-Jackie! It's you!"
"What about me?"
"Nothing. You should get yourself a boyfriend to know the feeling of a kiss." Valkyrie left her these words before closing the door behind.
Jackie could only shake her head helplessly. 'No wonder my sister likes BL. They indeed look cute.'

Ghostified City
‘Ghostified City’ is a post-dystopian sci-fi tale, set in a fading world that might be a future version of ours, running out on autopilot into oblivion. Adaman Yimmand is a simple robofactory operator in The City who's working with robots and machines every day. He doesn’t even realise that he might not have met another actual human being in years. Everything begins when he breaks his routine for once and enters a bar where he meets Evelith. This pesky other person does not let him go after he has had his -rather terrible- beer, because according to her actual humans are much rarer than he’s aware of. And from then on ‘the genie is out of the bottle and won’t get back in’, to use her words: Adaman meets more people, and gradually he has no choice but to accept that the reality of The City is not what he always thought it was, and to face the darkness of a fading humanity on the brink of self-inflicted extinction. Is there any hope left for him, and for his species? I have selected 'sexual content' and 'traumatising content' to be on the safe side, because there is a stripclub-like venue in the background of the story, and an almost-extinct humanity that has institutionalised suicide which might be disturbing to some. Apart from that it's not really a heavy 'adult' story.('Ghostified City' is my first long story in English as opposed to my native language Dutch, and an earlier version was published on my fiction blog 'Oranderra' until I stopped updating. This is a slightly altered version of the first series.)
