Chasing After My Wife Chapter 443

They turned silent while watching the little girl. They thought she wouldn't understand what they were saying but she did.
"When I looked into his eyes, they looked very familiar. When he kowtowed in front of Daddy, I thought it was really weird. I couldn't understand it at first. I just realized it now, his eyes were familiar because I've seen it numerous times. I have the same eyes as that man." Jade told them her observation which stunned the adults.
It was unimaginable for a kid of her age to come up with that deduction.
"You said you aren't giving me back to him but you lied to me."
"No Jade, we aren't." Jillyanna hugged the child and patted her back gently. "We are not giving you back to him. It's just that, Mommy and Daddy didn't want to become selfish. Do you get what I mean? He is your real father and he wanted so much to spend time with you."
"But I don't want a father like her." the little girl argued.
"Which was the reason why he was introduced as your uncle. You can treat him as an uncle. He is old already and he already regretted the things that happened. Just give him another chance, 'kay?"
"You mean, I need to pretend?" Jade was really straight forward.
"If you can pretend, why not? When you are ready to forgive him, you can just tell him everything."
"But you aren't really giving me to him, right? I will still be staying with you?"
"Hn. You will be staying with us. I will only allow him to see you once a week."
"Okay."
'Smart children aren't easy to deal with.' Jillyanna mumbled to herself internally. The last time she had a hard time like this was when she was dealing with the twins and Shein.

After an hour, Jade finally calmed down and she was happily making a matching bracelet for Jackie and Riley.
It took her half an hour to finish one bracelet because of her meticulous attitude. She chose everything, taking notes of the colors and sizes. There were small blocks with letters on it so she used some to form the name of the twins.
"What about grandma? Won't you make one for her?" Jillyanna asked since she had been spending time with Sky lately.
"No."
Sky was shocked and even Travis was surprised.
"Why not?" she asked her daughter again who was busy making the second bracelet.
"Because this is not the ones I like for her. I want to learn the embroidery because I want to make something for her and baby Raizel but you told me I have to wait until I grow a little bigger."
"I see. Then make sure to remember that. Grandma will be sad if you will forget it." Jillyanna told her daughter.
"I will never forget it."
"That's good."
It wasn't until the sun sets that Jade finally finished three bracelets.
"Who will you give the third bracelet?" Jillyanna inquired since there was an extra item.
"I will give it to Uncle Shein. I will use this as payment to use his computer."
They all laughed at her silly remark. How could she use it as payment. Besides, Shein doesn't like anyone touching his computers.
"Why do you want to use his computer?" Travis asked.
"Auntie Riley told me that Uncle Shein is very good in computers. I want to show him something."
"I see. Then, you have to fight him with your smart brain. Your Uncle Shein can't be fought with cuteness."
"He doesn't like cute children?" Jade asked because she thought everyone likes cute children, like the staff in the orphanage who likes children very much.

"He likes children but he can't be bought with cuteness. You need to be smart and battle him with your wits."
"Okay." She didn't really know what her father was telling her but she still nodded her head.
When they were about to go home, she asked Sky to send her back to Jillyanna's house for the mean time. She really wanted to show something to Shein before she forgot it.
When Shein came home after work, he found a little box at his door. "What's this?" he looked around to see anyone but he found nothing. He opened the box and saw a bracelet with a note on it.
"This is my payment to use your computer. Come and find me in the kitchen. - Jade." Shein erupted into a series of laughter. "Payment? This little princess is really something." He went inside his room first to change his clothes before going out to find the little girl.
Jade was helping Auntie Fei and Auntie Sisi wash the vegetables. She was standing on a chair to reach the kitchen sink with their helper standing beside her to guide her actions.
"Welcome home, Shein." Auntie Fei greeted him when she saw him standing the door frame to the kitchen.
"Hello Auntie. Riley isn't home yet?"
"She is. I think she went to her room and get changed. She might have fallen asleep due to her work."
"Little Jade, I'm here already." Shein called out the attention of the little girl who was busy with the vegetables.
"You agreed, Uncle?" Jade asked him in surprise.
"Agreed about what?"
"About me using your computer. You showed up here so, I take it that you agreed."
"No way."
"You can't go back with your actions Uncle Shein. I clearly wrote it in my note."
"You only told me to come and see you. There wasn't any question if I agree or not." Shein argued back to a child. He can't believe it. He was arguing with a child!
"You didn't read the back portion?" Jade asked incredulously but it was a trick that she made.
Shein took the piece of paper from his pocket to see the back portion. 'That is, if you agree to let me use your computer.' He read it mentally before reading the while message loudly. "This is my payment to use your computer. Come and see me in the kitchen. That is, if you agree to let me use your computer."
"See? You can come and see me here if you agree. Now, you are here with my later and bracelet. Don't tell me you didn't know this."
"You tricked me!"
"It's not my fault. Who told you to be easy to trick."
"Y-you...you little devil." Shein lost to a child and he couldn't take such a blow. "Go ahead and use it. Let's see if you can open my computers." He picked her up from the chair and carried her upstairs. "Your payment is not enough, too."
"What do you want me to pay? I can only make that." Jade told him while helping him wear the bracelet.
"Bake me some cookies next time. Your mother made us jealous with the cookies."
"Sure sure. I will bake lots of cookies for you."
"Promise?"
"Promise."

The Sun's Remnant
Two people are transported to a world with magic, but it is no Wonderland. When the god of light died, he decided to take the world with him. At least, that’s what many believe in the Kingdom of Rhine, a once vast kingdom of which only a small corner remains — and even that is threatened. On one side, by the Twisted Forest, a corruption spreading from the deathplace of the gods that has already swallowed up most of Rhine. On the other, by the resurgent Kagrathan Empire, resurrected by the infallible God-Emperor Karlatz. A holy order of knights carry out their mission despite the death of their god. A band of talented misfits prepare for a heist out of their league — by stealing. Mages hunt for secrets even as the world ends. A ruler does what must be done to save the living, no matter the cost. Into this world of magic and murder, two adrift souls are inexplicably dragged: a mother estranged from her young daughter due to her own mistakes, and a young man with a love of fantasy who has gradually drifted away from his friends and family. As they each struggle to find their place in this world, they must also answer the question: do they want one?***Content Warning: I've drafted about 100,000 words (most of the first volume), and there is no sexual content so far, though I may add it in the future. There is occasionally gore and traumatising content as the story demands. I commit to keeping all of the above non-voyeuristic. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
