Chasing After My Wife Chapter 508

The gathering continued until it was dinner time and Jackie had to leave the place for a date. Lucian had to go back to work as well so, the remaining people were the only ones who dined together and watched an action movie after. Though Travis wanted to watch action movies, he preferred taking care of their baby. Jade was with him since she didn't like to watch the movie they aired. The sound effects were so loud that she thought she'd be deaf.
"Do you mind reading the story of The Turtle and The Rabbit?" Travis asked his daughter who were looking for stories on the shelves.
"Okay." She reached for the book and walked towards the bed where her father and her baby brother were staying. "Daddy, is it alright for Mommy to watch a very loud movie? I just thought that it would stimulate her heart to beat faster."
"Your Mommy will be fine. She said that she'll only stay for half an hour."
"I understand."
True to her words, Jillyanna and Cielo went out of the movie room after half an hour. They only went there to show respect with everyone's choice. At the same time, even though they left, the people inside didn't mind it since they knew that the two women needed to be conscious of their health. The other was pregnant and the other one just got out from the hospital few months ago.
"Do you want to eat some ice cream with me?" Jillyanna asked her sister who was walking beside her.
"A little bit is fine."
"Okie dokie." The two of them descended the stairs and went to the kitchen to get some ice cream. "Cielo, do you remember Tristan?"
"Tristan? Your classmate in college who liked to compete with you?"

"Hn."
"Well, I can still remember him. Why do you ask?"
"I was just wondering if he had always been good in computers before. He was indeed smart but I viewed him as someone who wasn't really into computer stuff." She pulled a chair and let Cielo sat on it before walking towards the freezer.
"Now that you mention it. I saw him several times coming out from a net café. He also spent a lot of time in the university's computer laboratory."
"He did?"
"Yeah. But I am not sure what he was doing back then. I just thought that maybe he was working on some school activities or projects." Cielo revealed all the information that she knew. "Why are you asking about him?"
"Well, he told me that his wife is a fan of mine and he promised that he'd let her meet me. I feel a little adamant about it."
"Did you tell Travis that he'd want to meet you with his wife."
"I did. He was fine with it." Jillyanna answered while scooping a vanilla ice cream for Cielo.
"As long as he is fine with it, I guess that it's okay." She smiled at her sister and received the cup of ice cream from her. "I am just so happy for you, Yanna. Imagine, you have completely laid out the path of your life. You were very specific with your wants and needs. To tell you honestly, I thought that you were leading a boring life. I thought that your idea was kind of lonely. At the same time, we still supported your decision of having a baby without a father. And now? Look at you and your family. I am so glad that your plan to escape was ruined. But, we were also in constant worry for you. It's not even a year yet but, you have experienced so many life-and-death situations."

"Actually, I have experienced a lot more than you know. Anyway, I'm glad that you stopped me from running away as well."
The two of them shared their thoughts about different things. Jade was already very sleepy from the day's gathering; and while she was trying her best to keep her eyes open and read the book, her eyelids weren't cooperating at all. In the end, she fell asleep on her baby brother's room.
Seeing that his son was sleeping peacefully in his crib and his daughter was sound asleep on the small bed, Travis felt so much joy from the bottom of his heart. He bent down and picked up his daughter to bring her back to the room. He tucked her in under the blanket and kept the room temperature lower to keep her from sweating.
When he got out of Jade's room, everyone was also coming out from the movie room. Thomas and Alex were talking about the movie enthusiastically like the youths who often went to a movie house and rent their favorite DVD. Sky and Jenny were following behind them and so were the others.
"How was the movie?" Travis asked them as he walked towards the master's bedroom.
"It was nice. Thanks for today, son." Thomas responded with a gentle smile on his lips.
"No problem. Let's have a gathering again once we're back from our trip."
"Right. You take care of your wife and children. I'll go home with Gabriel now since it's late. Winter would be angry if her man stays late outside the house."
"Okay. Bye, dad. See you again next time."
"Thanks for inviting us." Sky also stated to him.
"I'm glad that you're here, Mom. Jillyanna is very happy as well."
"Where is she by the way?"
"She's probably in her small rooms downstairs or in the kitchen."
One after another, they bid their farewell to Travis and to Jillyanna who was indeed staying in the kitchen, eating an ice cream with Cielo.
When everyone left, the house was in deep silence once again. The only thing you could hear was the running water in the kitchen since Auntie Fei came inside and helped Jillyanna washed the dirty kitchen wares. This whole gathering helped the servants relaxed their mind and body since the family was very hands on to their food and preparation. The only think they could help was to being a dishwasher for them.
They have always been like this. Once there's a gathering, they would always cook for their own food instead of asking their helpers to do it.
Jillyanna let Auntie Fei finished washing the things that they used and she went upstairs. Travis was sitting in a bathtub, enjoying his time waiting for his wife. When Jillyanna came in with a towel wrapped around her body, he moved over to give her some space.
Unknowingly, a new message was received on her phone that she placed on top of her bedside drawer. "It's nice to see your smile."

The Adventures of Alan
What happens when a university professor somehow ends up in another world, where magic bends the laws of nature? Alan is, albeit unwillingly, about to find out. As a professor of physics, he has a decent understanding of how the world works, or so he likes to think. Armed only with his knowledge, Alan is thrown into a world very different from his own. In his new reality, he will meet both friends and foe, he will seek knowledge, he will build power, and perhaps he will even find love again? Follow Alan through his adventures, and find out for yourselves how he deals with the challenges thrown at him by a new world, while struggling with the issues brought with him from his old one. * Author’s note: A fair warning. This is the first time I’ve published anything, and basically the first time I’ve written anything more than mandatory school-stuff. The story will probably have inconsistencies, grammatical errors (not my native tongue, though that excuse is getting old), and potentially confusing (missing?) plot. I will naturally do my best to write something worth reading, but my main goal in writing this story is to have fun and explore the limits of my own creativity. My hope in publishing it here, is that I’ll reach someone who enjoy the story, and can push me forward towards writing more, as it is difficult at times to find the motivation to write just for myself. Additionally, I can’t really promise to have regular updates, as I have a full-time job that often likes to take the ‘full-time’ part literally, and a sporadic social life that occasionally surprises me (happy surprises mostly, so I shouldn’t complain). I’ll aim for once a week to start with, and take it from there. Happy reading! Cover photo by Jeff Hire (/photographer/gun4hire-58415), from https://freeimages.com/.

Contact First
2039 - Earth A narrow beam energy signal appeared aimed squarely at earth from the TRAPPIST system. The communication consisted of a layered set of repeating data over several thousand wavelengths. Over the next few months scientists discovered that the lower wavelengths carried an encoded numerical language which could then be used to interpret the more complicated messages carried on the higher wavelengths. After half a year of painstaking work the signal was fully decoded. It described a small satellite launched along a precise trajectory towards the fourth planet of our solar system. Included was a package of advanced research that humanity would need to have ready in order to receive the satellite and decelerate it safely. The alien data provided the kick that humanity needed to turn from petty squabbling and unite to explore the final frontier. Major government and corporate leaders worked together to create the framework for the United Federation of Sol. UFS spaceports went from scaffolding to daily launches in every major city around the globe. Ships floated like dandelion seeds, spreading on solar wind to grow into colonies. 2397 - Mars orbit, Egeria Station The command center was a hive of activity as checks were conducted and systems initialized. Scientists flitted by like mayflies as communicators beeped and holoscreens spat out green tinted readouts. Nervous energy was thick in the air as everyone anticipated the culmination of over three hundred years of work. Massive fusion reactors under the planet's surface thrummed with barely restrained power as energy fed into a gleaming metallic maze criss crossing the planet. Metal fingers reached up, overshadowing the mighty olympus mons and trying to grab the stars. All over the solar system, people quickly turned to look as gigantic energy lances shot from the dusty fourth planet. Two years later. The same people that clapped loudly at the successful activation of project Hermes now wait with baited breath. A silver capsule trailing bright photonic sails is captured by a net of grav beams and guided with care bordering on reverence into the station. Holoscreens across the headquarters project an image of the sleek craft settling in the bay. Data connections are established and the holoscreens blink to white. Slowly an image forms on the screen. Across the headquarters people stare in wonder as a wholly alien face stares back. "Contact established. Welcome to the universe."
