My Space-Time System Chapter 239

The moment Blake turned to deal with Camilla and Serhan, golden fireballs crashed into them, sending them flying towards him.
'Well played.' With his back against the tree, Blake gave Camilla a fire-propelled punch instantly knocking her out. Using the momentum at which Serhan was flying towards him, Blake grabbed him by the waist before spinning and slamming him onto the tree branch before giving him a heavy stomp to the head.
"We need to be quick, the queen is coming!" Luciano warned Blake as he had left the ground and moved up to the tree
"I just need a few more seconds. I will take care of the rest and try to gather them at one spot." Blake went to meet the nobles coming his way.
The person controlling the nobles hadn't expected Blake to try and save the nobles nor Luciano helping him, but as always he had a backup plan.
His initial plan was to kill as many commoners as possible alongside Blake and some insignificant nobles, before warping the others out of danger.
Right now he planned to delay Blake as much as possible for the queen ant to arrive, but Blake kept on making his job easier by trying to save them.
[You are reaching your mana limit, remember you still need to warp out of here.] The system made Blake aware of his dangerously low mana.
'I am aware.' He was trying to save as many students as possible while conserving mana.
While dodging the spells from 10 students Blake engaged in close combat with 3 nobles.
With his superior physical combat abilities and the extra boost gotten from the Raiju breathing technique, it didn't take time for Blake to knock out 2 of them, but that was when the ground begin to quake, and trees being broken.

The ant queen was tops, 5 minutes away, but once it arrived there chances of escaping were very low.
'How fast is it!' The pressure on Blake had more than multiplied. He gave the 3rd noble kick to the abdomen before landing a roundhouse kick that knock her out.
[You are taking way too many risks. You need to get out of here now or you might end up dying with those you are trying to save.] The system screamed at Blake who was hell-bent on saving all of them.
'There are 4 left I can do this!' With a determined expression, Blake dashed towards one of the nobles while firing lightning bolts to stun him.
"Blake we need to leave now!" Luciano screamed at Blake, and the mind controller agreed too.
With Blake being surrounded by the ants from both sides and the queen ant being a few minutes away, there was no way for Blake to escape.
He was about to activate the mass warping system for a second and get the nobles including Luciano out of there before turning it off. But that was when the wind in the area became chaotic.
It was the ant queen floating in mid-air with 6 wings of equal sizes. Its brown exoskeleton had changed to a pitch-black and its gigantic body had shrunk to a humanoid form with spikes at different parts of its body.
'How did it get here so fast?!' Blake's heart began racing as he saw the ant queen.
'Fuck we need to get out of here!' Using void shift, Blake began gathering the bodies of the unconscious nobles to Luciano's location.
If it was in a normal situation the system would have snorted at Blake's thought but it was a life-threatening situation and it could be left for later.

"Shit! I have to get them out of them.' The mind controller was about to warp the nobles and Luciano back to the school, but that was when the core's manual override was complete and he lost control of the core.
"How?! The override is meant to take over half an hour. Lovren had no clue of what he has done!" The mind controller spoke with a dread-filled voice when he thought about the massacre that was about to take place.
It was one thing killing Blake who was a commoner, but it was another story if the emperor's son died.
In Blake's case, there would be a lot of investigations, and with his position, he was sure not to be discovered. As for Luciano's death, all sorts of investigations will be carried out. Unless he was emperor Cinder or Prince Bryon there was no way he wouldn't receive a punishment a thousand or more times worst than death.
…
Back in the forest.
The ant queen had appeared above the battlefield. On assessing the situation It saw Blake gathering other unconscious humans to the one controlling the golden flames.
The human was making things easier for him, and although it was hungry after its evolution. It decided to make sure none of them escaped, so it went for the other humans still standing.
Instantly, it appeared in front of one of the nobles, and with a swipe of its hand. The noble's head fell to the ground and blood gushed out like a water fountain.
'Holy fuck!' Blake was astonished by the ant queen's terrifying speed.
[You can't take all of them, you need to prioritize the most useful ones.] The system screamed to Blake with urgency written all over its tone.
'On it!' Blake snapped out of it and warped to the 3 injured commoners, before moving to Camilla and the others.
"Blake we need to leave!" Luciano shouted when he saw the ant queen killed the last mind-controlled noble.
"Went to retrieve my daggers." Blake appeared beside Luciano with 4 void daggers in his hand. "Time to get out of here!" Using his last bit of mana, Blake began casting the largest spatial corridor he had ever made.
But that was when the ant queen sensed the spatial energy and immediately turned towards the group and let out an ear-piercing screech.

Nowhere Stars
For as long as anyone can remember, humans have been preyed upon by Harbingers, living nightmares which devour dreams and passions and souls, and defended by Keepers. These children alone hold the gift of magic, the wild and wondrous ability to impose emotions over reality and empower their frail bodies with the splendor of their souls. Under their protection, humanity was able to survive and thrive. While modern Keepers have come to enjoy a social position somewhere between celebrities and religious idols, very few accept the mantle simply to be a hero. The Messengers of the Goddess Claiasya, spirits charged with awakening the magic in suitable souls, promise that Keepers who consume and purify enough Harbingers will obtain the power to change themselves or the world in nearly any way they wish. It’s for this purpose that Liadain Shiel, a young girl born terminally ill, throws herself into life as a Keeper when her opportunity comes, hoping against hope to rewrite her fate and save her life while she still can. But magic wants its wielders to grow and change, not simply continue living, and the secrets swimming beneath the sea and behind the sky have lives and designs of their own. Beast
A threat to the galaxy has come from another, and the Union of intelligent life will go to any length to stop it. Military Quarantine has held for hundreds of thousands of cycles. Traders, merchants, colonists, and Pirates live risky lives along the fringes as the politics from the inner systems fail to see the larger threats beyond their borders. A lone human finds himself far from home with no memories to how he arrived. A failing Trade vessel plays on a desperate gamble, while a malicious parasite searches for a suitable host. ............................................. Author's note: Beast is a story that I wrote a long, long time ago. Some of you might have read it then, back when it was posted on reddit over at r/HFY. It was my first webfiction and made in the spirit of that subreddit's "genre" of humanity being awesome. But, it is also a story that has bothered me a little bit. Just like most new writers tend to do, I made mistakes and errors that feel painful to reread. A Space Opera will be a Space Opera, but I had prose that makes present-me cringe. Still, at the same time, the story is still very much a tale I've never given up on. It was my first adventure into fiction: Beast was a crazy adventure with bodysnatching aliens, galactic war, threats from across the universe... Posting this story here is a way to try and redeem myself a bit. I won't call it a complete rewrite, because it's not, but I have wanted to go through and correct some of the major issues Beast has for a long time and put it somewhere more accessible to read (instead of as posts/comments on reddit) and I figure that now is as good a time as any. Additional corrections you might notice are welcome.

The story takes place on the world known as Edge, a place of fantasy and wonder. William Crow is an orphaned teen on the cusp of manhood, and is also a member of a class known as "soulless", for in this world those who do not develop their own "soul skill" become known as such. Soul skills vary in range and rarity, having many different functions and uses; however, not having one automatically makes an individual have incredibly low standing amongst society. William's inability to develop his own soul skill, along with the loss of his parents at a very young age, drives him into the corner of life. Making him a reserved and often frightened individual. However, his life changes drastically when he is chosen for one of the "Scouting" lotteries, in which the capital city forces some of the soulless to scout potential danger zones for monsters or enemy units. It's during this "mission" that he discovers the power that lies within him: System.
