Her eyes shone with determination as she spoke. Her anger, very evident in her hazel brown eyes as they burned with unimaginable fire within them.

"Just do what you have to and if there is anything you need my help with, do not hesitate to inform me. I would do all I can to help[ you in your quest.":

"Thank you, dear."

"Anything for you."

"But, I do not want to get you involved in my quest for vengeance. The last thing I want is for you to soil your hands with this matter."

"That is not a problem, Jade. I am not complaining. I want to help," Macy insisted.

"Don't be stubborn, Macy. You are my family and it is my duty to protect you."

"As it is mine," Macy argued. "I may not be as stubborn as you are but even you know better than to stop me from helping out. Just relax. I can take care of myself by myself."

"For your sake, I hope so. I think I need an ice tea right now. My brain needs a chill pill."

"That is true." Macy took a few steps to where she was and placed the back of her palm on her hand and neck.

Her eyes shot open after her checkup. "This would soon be serious. Jade, you are heating up. You need rest especially after your first time yesterday."

"First time? What first time?" Jade titled her head to the side and blinked at her friend with her cute adorable eyes.

If one could have seen her now,. They would be shocked at such a swift change in behavior.

No one would have expected that the cold determined looking girl of just now would look so charming like a little girl.

"What do you mean by that? What is what first time. Oh, I know, you want to play the innocence card right?"

"I do not understand what you are saying, Macy. I am not playing or faking anything," Jade denied flatly.

Seeing the outcome, Macy shook her head trying to understand something in her head.

'Wait a minute, you mean to tell me that Jade and Xander didn't do it yesterday, or is it that she is trying to hide it so as not to tell me the details? I bet it is the last one but if that was it, she would have given herself away, one way or another. No, Jade is too good at acting that she would flop just like that.' Macy argued in her mind.

"Huh, Macy, what's up?" Jade called out, pulling her friend out of her thoughts.

"Huh! Hmm, so what you mean to tell me is that you and Xander have not done the, you know."

"Huh?" Jade was still not getting the idea of what her friend was saying. " Just speak in plain English please."

"You two haven't done the deed yet. You haven't had sex?"

'Oh… That is where your naughty mind took you to, tsk, Macy."

"What, I am just curious. I know he would be great in bed."

The moment she said that she saw that her friend lowered her head, unable to speak again as she blushed from embarrassment.

The more Macy spoke, the more Jade blushed and she shied away from the topic.

"Then just do not wait and you would be fine,; Jade stated flatly, suddenly becoming more serious.

"Hey, no way. You are not using the serious game on me. I bet he was…"

"Shh!" Jade quickly covered Macy's lips with her hands. "Not another word you naughty girl. You are in the office."

"Okay, meaning you would tell me at home?"

"Wait, how did a normal conversation of me getting angry over Zale suddenly turn into my personal sexual life with my handsome boyfriend."

She specifically hinted at the handsome to get her friend all worked up again before winking at her.

"Oh, Jade!" Macy squealed. Come and tell me, please."

"If you behave well, I would tell you at home."

"Okay, but that is too long. Just tell me, did you do the deed or not?"

"Fine, no I did not. We did not have sex. We haven't yet but we did some things and that is all. Yes, I have felt him and he is great down there. Now that issue is out and passed, kindly do not bring it up again or else…"

"I swear, I won't," Macy raised her hand and pointed to the sky while grinning from ear to ear.

"I hope you will. Now time to get my iced tea oh and I am not tired. We just made out, a bit of a romance so do not let your naughty mind make you think things that are not true."

"Fine. I would get you the tea. Just relax for a while."

"Thanks, girlfriend."

Just like that, Jade asked one of her men to keep a close eye on Xander while she made plans and prepared for any encounter she could get from him.

That wasn't the problem at the end of the day. All the intel she got did not link Zale to any negative things in the city and that had made her worry.

The Zale she knew would stop at nothing to find her and involve himself in dubious things that would get him money and power but now, nothing like that was happening.

This had begun to disturb her. To someone else, they may see it as anything wrong but Jade's keen senses could tell that there was something hidden and secretive going on. It was like he was operating from the shadows and giving as things are, she would know.

'I do not think all is well. Something tells me that all of this is a façade, but why, what is he hiding and busy with now of all times?' Jade thought within herself after hours of following Zale.

Quickly she disappeared without a trace and went back home.

Since Zale did not want to do anything that would bring him out and wants to operate in secret, Jade decided to relax a bit. No matter what he was planning, within some days, weeks, or months, the true nature and the thing would be out in the open.

So she had no regret whatsoever. She was good and okay, ready to carry on.

She decided to enjoy what little time she had with Xander before the storm came and she would fight it head-on.

Days later, on a lovely weekend, Jade closed early from work and made her way to Xander's office to see him.

On getting there, Xander was more than a shock to have her around. Usually, he was the one always running to her office whenever his dragon was been irritated and his antidote not around.

But now, that antidote was here to find him when he wasn't that sick. This was a huge surprise for him.

MINE! MINE! MINE!

His dragon chanted within him the moment their eyes locked and his lips moved upwards, parting his lips into a nice smile.

She looked extremely breathtakingly beautiful in her plain cream body-hug knee-length long-sleeved, one-sided off-shoulder gown.

"Dashing," Xander mouthed at her before closing the file in his hand with his eyes still fixed on her, earning him a breathtaking smile from his love in return.
