Unlucky?Player Chapter 37

"Noel that child...did you perhaps chose him as your disciple because of the power inside him?"
"Old hag... would you believe me if I told you that brat managed to comprehend 70% of weapon aura within a few months, in fact, I guarantee you, he's probably managed to fully comprehend weapon aura by now," said Noel.
"Impossible!! it took you almost a few years and you were considered a genius amongst even amongst the Legends there is only a handful that hold a candle to you.... just what kind of monster is that kid...."
"Isn't that the question? forget about the monster inside him, his combat instinct, and comprehending abilities are something I've never witnessed, of course, he has no experience and mostly relies on his instinct while fighting but compared to him we're just fish .... while he.. he's the whole ocean..."

"Damn what was that? sheesh," Night said while sniffing.
"Perhaps My Lord is being talked about," said Shade.
"Hahaha that's a myth, of course, there's no actual science behind sneezing and people talking about someone, wait is there? I must look into it, perhaps you are right Shade, this might be something interesting... hmmm..." Night said as he slowly started muttering.
Shade just looked at his lord and nodded, by now he was more than used to Night randomly mumbling to himself half through what he was originally saying.
"Ahh man its been a few hours and I've only leveled up 5 times, tch"
Once again not realizing the impact of his leveling caused the world's business families to cry in confusion.
Night's clear speed was now more than doubled, he and Shade absolutely demolished any beast that faced them, it was as if they fought a thousand battles together. In situations where the monster somehow managed to slip past Shade, Night would easily dodge, in the rare circumstances that the beast actually managed to touch Night, it would only howl in confusion as the damage was almost 40% lesser due to the defensive aura. Night was still upset he couldn't use weapon aura fully.

They continued farming for almost a week in real-time, However, the deeper they went the fewer monsters were seen, which drastically reduced his speed, of course, this was only according to him.

At this point, there was only one headline circulating through the Genesis forums,
"Who is going to be the first player to ascend? Kira? Mocha? Night? or perhaps an unregistered player who wanted to surprise the world?"
Almost 2 weeks passed by since Night left the waterfalls. Kira was now ranked first and was just 2 levels behind the first ascension. He spent most of his time in Verdin, luckily he managed to dodge the Guardian, however, instead of continuing into the Forest of Silence, he luckily found a dungeon system and set off to clear them.
Dungeons in any game were considered extremely precious, not only did they give treasures that can't normally be found but the amount of XP that could be gained was immense, and for Kira to find a whole dungeon system could be considered heaven-defying luck.
At this point Kira completely left Mocha behind, Kira wasn't aware of the fact that Mocha didn't really care about leveling and just focused on enjoying and being himself.
At this time Mocha and his group had been inside Kriol, the same region as where Night was, except they didn't enter through the same way as Night, Mocha and his group had left for Vraun from Linto. They weren't aware of any players reaching Vraun or even Kriol, in fact, they confident they would be the first to do so, little did they know, Night was casually walking around slaying beasts left and right in the Innermost parts of the forest.
Night was now level 75, after a whole week he managed to level up only 20 times, he was extremely disappointed especially after gaining 5 levels in a few hours, he had expected to easily reach level 85 or more.

To the outside, it would seem like Night was boasting or he was a spoilt brat but to someone who knew Night and his speed would understand.
Of course, the forums were going mad, as they were all now watching the leaderboards carefully.
In fact, the number of people currently on the forums easily crossed 300 million, and soon enough, a wager was going around, people bet millions on who would be the first to level.
Nobody doubted Night's speed but the fact was that Kira just had too much of a lead and Mocha was fully out of the question.
Now the wager consisted of only 2 names, Kira and Night, and not so surprisingly the ratio was almost 10:1. And anyone who bet against Kira was suddenly criticized.
"Come on Kira, I bet my whole life-savings!!"
"LOL! what a fool, never bet your savings kid, you're lucky this time as Kira is sure to win"
"HAHA I bet 5 million dollars that Night wins, of course, I did this as a joke"
"What a dumbass, if you wanted to throw away money, at least you could've given it to me"
Millions of comments were posted every minute.

In KYOJIN HQ,
"Sir, who do you think will be the first to ascend?" a man with glasses asked.
He was standing next to another man who was sitting on a throne-like chair and was carefully looking at the large screen in front of him.
"Reed, you're a smart guy, now tell me, out of all the achievements which is the only one to give a direct level up as the reward?" asked Kenny Smith.
"That's an easy one, sir, of course, the achievement is called 'Not so tough' " said reed.
"Good, now where is Night?"
Reed still couldn't catch what the Chairman was trying to say but regardless he answered him.
"Kriol, sir"
"More specifically?" Kenny asked hoping Reed would understand what he was trying to say.
"Currently Night is at the border of the central region," Reed said.
"..."
"..."
"..."
"Oh...OH SIR, HAHAHA, *sigh* at this point can this man really be considered unlucky? b-but sir, I don't think even he can? To get the achievement he'll need to do 'that' alone... of course he could use Shade's help but that would give him a different achievement and wouldn't help him cut off the lead between Kira and him."
"Haha we can only see, besides if he does 'that' alone, he'll get both the achievements, besides if he really does ascend then he's going to shock the world," said Kenny, little did Reed know Kenney meant something else by his last statement.
Kenny then continued looking at the screen, this time joined by Reed, the both of them now watched a player casually walking through a forest while talking to a shadowy figure.

Disclaimers: Chapter Frequency: I aim for one chapter a week. Chapter Length: I try to keep chapters between 3000 and 6000 words. Binge Preference: I plan for 30 chapters per arc. If you want to binge a complete arc, then that is the number to wait for. I will also add a line to chapters indicating the beginning and end of an arc. Advanced Access: I have created a patreon page with early access to four chapters for patrons. What to Expect: Progression fantasy with a western fantasy setting and with eastern fantasy elements. A main character that is forced to explore a very narrow path of magic due to a permanent condition. A main character that is a part of a larger cast. A main character that is growing but won't become the strongest around anytime soon. A story following a single main character but with introduction or theme setting scenes without the main character. What Not to Expect: Edgy grimdark characters – I will never write a sexual violence scene or gory descriptions of torture. I hate reading it and I would hate writing it even more. Romance – romantic relationships will never be the focus of the story and only appear in the background. The main character is preoccupied with other stuff. Other forms of relationships (family, friends, companions) play a bigger role. Cover: The cover art was commisioned from redditor Linh-Nguyen87. The font is alita brush by Inovatype Typefoundry. Overview: 001–030 Arc 1, Cultivating Perseverance: complete. 031–060 Arc 2, Undying Defiance: complete. 061–090 Arc 3, Unyielding Fury: scheduled for publishing. 091–120 Arc 4, Savage Hope: scheduled for publishing. 121–150 Arc 5, Self-Made Fate: first draft in progress. 151–180 Arc 6, Heretic Style: sketching in progress. A Sky of Star and Strength
Jake was just an intelligent kid living a pretty regular life in Mill Creek, Washington. Then the apocalypse happens. Now with his Dad out of the country and totally in yet out his element, this is his story. My take on a system apocalypse based around "life force" as a currency. The main character will have a special power (as will most of the other characters) and be rather OP, you have been warned. Like many of the authors on this site I have no formal writing experience so writing tips and grammar corrections are much appreciated :)
