《The Typhoon’s Wife》The Typhoon's Wife

After the date,Neil drove towards Mi Rae's home.He wanted to tell her to stay over at his place where he could talk to her but his courage seemed to have deserted him.He thought of the things in the car's trunk and sighed. He really needed to gather his courage and resort to shamelessness. He had planned two options for her..He decided he was going to go with whichever she chose...Mi Rae,also was feeling a little down at the thought of staying in her own home after living with him for so many days..But her thoughts and uncertainties were what were confusing her.Neil had accepted her feelings and said to try a relationship after the kidnapping incident but Mi Rae was not too sure of his feelings. He was a naturally caring person and she knew that and worried that he had accepted her out of kindness..or maybe guilt. She did not know if they were at a point of missing each other when they were not together or was it a case of,'out of sight out of mind'.She never thought that love would be such a curse. No wonder the saying was falling in love..You really do fall! She hoped that the saying,'distance makes the heart grow fonder' was true because soon they would not be meeting everyday and were going to be busy..On the other hand she was disappointed that he had not once asked her to stay. Her heart was being like a drum not settling in one direction
Just then they reached the apartment and Mi Rae was about to bid him goodbye but he had already alighted the car and was coming to her side to help her out.Her brows furrowed.Wasn't he in too much of a hurry to separate? She was feeling almost insulted..as if she had forcefully imposed herself..Hmpf..He was the one who had invited her to stay with him..

Mi Rae was about to chew him out when he turned towards the trunk and opening it pulled out a few big luggage bags. Her eyes turned wide and she looked at the luggage and then him. Why did he bring this much luggage? She went ahead and touched it..It seemed empty.
Looking at her confused face,Neil tried to cover his nervousness and said charmingly,"My dear sunshine,do you think all your things will fit into these bags?We can make multiple rounds if you want.Whatever you want to bring will fit into the house..."
Mi Rae's mouth fell open. She did not expect this.He was indirectly asking her to move in..No not indirectly,,he had directly prepared to help her move in with him.As if it is was already a given conclusion. She did not know whether to be angry or amused.A minute ago she was feeling insulted that he did not want her to stay longer and the next minute..this happened.
Trying to gather her thoughts, she crossed her arms across her chest and said,"Neil,I cannot just move in with you!A few days was different but the dynamics change drastically when it is about living together! We need to date longer. We need to be surer of our feelings before I uproot myself!"
Though she said 'we',she actually meant him. Also she really did want to live with him but dare not be impulsive. In case she hurt herself in the future.. She tried to think of various objections and excuses but all in vain...Neil,in his own fashion ignored all that she said and after confirming that she would not move in with him anytime soon, put the bags back in the trunk. And he did not show a sliver of disappointment when she refused to live with him!

Mi Rae was about to breathe a sigh of relief( or a disappointed one at that) but then Neil took out a smaller carry all bag from the trunk and gestured for her to lead the way.Mi Rae was now rooted to the ground..She stared at the bag and stuttered,"Wh..What is th..this?"
Neil grinned and said,"My bags..Since you do not want to move in with me and I don't want to waste our time in commuting and setting up appointment like meetings,I brought a few necessities with me.This way you will get used to having me around and then when you are prepared to live with me we can get your luggage..I did not get much so don't worry..you just need to empty out a shelf for me..I hope you don't mind me coming to stay with you,my sunshine?orry not..I will not intrude in your space and leave early morning so as not to disturb you.But we can come together since our offices are in the same vicinity...So it won't be like a permanent stay but something along the lines of staying overnight...Can I please do that my sunshine??"
Before Neil could finish the question,Mi rae was already nodding her head and planning which shelf to empty out for Neil..They were going to live in or stay in or whatever..So basically Neil had clarified one thing..He was willing to uproot his life for her...Mi rae now wanted to look for a corner and cry some tears of happiness...

The Queen's Guard
Friedrich Schreiner is a proud gefreiter of the Queen's Guard, 2nd Company: the finest fighting infantry on the continent (barring the Temple Guard; but please don't bring that up). Service is honourable but, with the Empire on a peacetime footing, terribly boring. Affairs take a dramatic turn for the worse when a mysterious invader uses a forgotten and taboo magical means to breach the capital, plunging the nation into chaos and endangering the royal family. With events spiraling out of control, Friedrich is entrusted with a critical mission. Will hot lead, cold steel, and his determination be enough to see him through? The Queen's Guard is what I'm calling a black powder fantasy story: it's set in a loose equivalent of the early 18th century (plus or minus a few pieces I decided I wanted or didn't want). Magic exists, but not in a spell-slinging sort of way: it's Earth-shaking undertakings or minor enchantments forged in by master craftsmen, the grand working of a secretive cabal or a slight nudge to the course of a blow. I, the eternal optimist, have a full trilogy in mind. The first book is The Prince's Arquebusier, hence the cover and the title disagreeing! This is my shot at 2021's NaNoWriMo and RR Writathon! I've hitherto been terrible at writing long-form fiction, so this is an effort to break out of that by having some accountability in being supposed to post chapters regularly. Here's hoping it works! I have an outline, but not too much detail. I'll do my best to avoid continuity errors, doing anything glaringly stupid, or otherwise fluffing my lines, but I can't make any promises on that. Please do let me know any feedback! Always happy to improve. [participant in the Nov 2021 Royal Road Writathon challenge]

His eyes gleamed in the dark, tonight the forest was acquainted with an unfamiliar scent, his nose picked it up quite quickly, it was alluring almost drawing everything to it, but it said that you should be more wary of it, than anything else. He knew that it would be dangerous to seek the scent to its owner, but it just excited him more. He would stop at nothing to get to it. This is a story about a teen girl and a teen boy, but these two were gifted with extraordinary powers. They’re families were good friends, but if a seedling of doubt were dropped in between, would they go against each other? Would our dear leads stay together and ignore the seedling of doubt? Beyond the Bridge
There are many worlds, many multiverses, and you can move between them via the Federation's Bridge network - magical gateways to other worlds. The world dubbed "C'thon" by its inhabitants - or Gamma-Theta-Nu-649, if you ask the Federation's bureaucracy - was deserted when the Federation found it. The "civilized" races had all died out centuries prior, and the wilderness had grown downright feral in their absence. Now, the lonely Federation outpost of Bridgetown is under constant threat from the hungry wildlife, malicious fey, territorial goblins, and wandering undead that surround it. The town's distance from the Federation's centers of power means that it gets precious few of the resources that it needs to stay safe and afloat. Enter the Guild of Adventurers, a plucky and disparate crew who do the Federation's dirty work in exchange for coin. One team, the first of many, crosses the Bridge to C'thon looking for fame, fortune, and (if they're lucky) the answer to a newly-discovered Prophecy. They'll get much more than they bargained for, although first they need to avoid being eaten by the local wildlife. Updates weekly on Wednesday. Chapters will be as long as they need to be for them to work, which means they can vary. If anything drops below 2500 words, I'll post an extra chapter if I have one ready. [PS: This is not a litRPG, but I do borrow heavily from TTRPGs for inspiration, and the general setting and storyline is from a TTRPG campaign I'm running.] [PPS: This is my first attempt at writing long-form fiction. I'm not trying to make a great piece of literature or have a multi-novel overarching plot, but hopefully it'll still be a fun story - let me know what you think in the comments.] [PPPS: Cover image is from a free-download wallpaper by Tyler Edlin; I do not own it, and will take it down immediately if requested.]
