Solo Player Arvin Chapter 104

'I am a worthless man.' Arvin said.
{Yes you are… Wait why?} Loki asked.
'I spend a night with a girl. She was the girl that took my virginity. And yet here I am, a guy who didn't have the courtesy to ask for the full name of that girl.' Arvin said.
{You are an idiot.} Loki said.
'Why?' Arvin asked.
{Dosent matter. But do you think that this Stuart Summerfell fellow is that same old man that was killed 3 days ago?} Loki asked.
'Sounds like him. It makes sense that the old man's name should be Stuart Summerfell, after all that black fennec fox was also after the red jewel. So I think this guy here is talking about that old man.' Arvin said.
{It is just a piece of jewelry… I can't even feel mana from it. This makes me curious… What is so important about this jewel?} Loki said.
'It is my fault. When those old couple and that black fennec fox were talking about the staff, I didn't listen to them. I stupidly was gawking that liquor that was in that old man's treasure room.' Arvin said.
{So what do we do now?} Loki asked.
'I think we should return to the city and try to find something about that staff with the fake jewel. I heard that the staff was originally possessed by a crazy old man. Then that would mean that if we ask the right place then we would surely be able to get some insight on the staff.' Arvin said.
{Let's go then.} Loki said.
Then Arvin easily sneaked out of the camp in the north and started flying towards the city. While flying Arvin could many male and female fennec foxes making a perimeter around the city. Seeing this Arvin knew that this was a futile attempt. The perimeter would work if the armies started sending their men to fight. But if they started using a ballista, they would all die before they could even raise the sword.
When Arvin reached the city, he saw that almost every street and alley of the city was empty. There was no one around. Only guards and the soldiers were on the street, either patrolling or taking supplies from here to there.

Seeing the empty street made it harder for Arvin to find information about a crazy old man and the Summerfell family. Lost in predicament about what he should do next Arvin, decided that if he has seen the battle plan of two armies then why not pay a visit to their enemies as well. After all, that black fennec fox knew something about the red jewel. If he spies on her then there might come a chance where she would spill the whole plot of what is going on here.
With that Arvin started flying towards the command center of fennec foxes…
The command center of the fennec foxes was located in the underground region of the city. And when Arvin reached there he saw that everything there was in turmoil. Everyone was running from here to there. Arvin saw that fennec foxes were under a lot of pressure right now. Arvin ventured through the whole command center and didn't overlook any portion of the building.
It was his rough estimation but fennec foxes had around 1300 soldiers. While the enemies have 2000 men to fight for them. And odds were definitely against fennec foxes. But if somehow the ballista of the enemies is disabled that then they could easily take care of enemies on foot.
The weirdest part of his venture was that no matter where he searches he was not able to find the black fennec fox. It was like that she was not here in the command center at the moment. But where would the commander of the army go when she is most desperately needed?
…..
After finding nothing significant, Arvin decided that it would be better to act when something interesting happens. He should not waste his mana to find that black fox, after all, she would come forward when the time comes.
So in the meantime, Arvin killed one of the soldiers of the fennec foxes and took his place. That soldier turned out to be a member of the frontline battalion. He and his comrades were posted in the outskirts of the rocky mountains. They were in a sense first line of defense in case a war is fought on foot. While if the armies decided that they wanted to use battlista's then they would be the first ones to be pummeled by rocks.

Arvin was a lowly soldier so no one looked at him with suspicion. And he tried to best blend in. While blending in Arvin was also trying to grasp the situation that he was stuck in. So he thought that he should talk with Loki about this…
'So what have we learn and what do we know?' Arvin said.
{Well I know a lot of stuff. I have a talent from which I can tell the dimensions of a girl's body with a glance. And it doesn't matter what kind of dress she is wearing…} Loki started speaking.
'No No… Not about that… And your talent… Does it comes because of your shapeshifting skills?' Arvin said.
{Well if you transform into girls from time to time you also will be able to know those things.} Loki said.
'Thought so… So you had to transform into a girl from time to time?' Arvin asked.
{Yes. You would not believe how easy is it to fool aesir gods after turning into a girl.} Loki said.
'Hmm… Point noted. Now back on track… We know that the leader of fennec foxes aka black fox is after the stone. We know that the Aurora tribe is after the stone so that means that the army just at this city's footstep is also after the stone. So that means that stone must be very valuable.' Arvin said while contemplating.
{Sounds right.} Loki said.
'We know the stone is not a magic artifact as we cannot sense any mana from it. And we also know that this stone was possessed by some crazy old man from the city.' Arvin said.
{Correct.} Loki commented.
'And from logical reasoning, we can also conclude that there is another tribe of the third floor that is after the stone.' Arvin said.
{Those men with the black fox?} Loki said.
'Correct. We didn't saw any humans in the city. Yet there those men were following that black fox. They were powerful when compared to her and me. That meant that they were from the upper floors. That is why we can also conclude that maybe, just maybe the other tribe that is supporting the black fox will retaliate somehow. So we can conclude that city would be safe.' Arvin said.
{Right and don't forget that those armies out there didn't bring enough supplies with them. That would mean that those men were just trying to scare the fox people.} Loki said.
'Right. They would probably stall some time and then try to black fox bend a knee…. Wait.' Arvin abruptly said.
{What?} Loki said.
'At the night the Summerfell family was murdered. You and I saw that the black fox took the staff. And if I am being rational then those armies out there don't know that. The Aurora clan representative of the army in the north said that he would take the staff from the Summerfell family. That means that he doesn't have any idea that they were murdered.' Arvin said.
{Oh F*ck…} Loki said while he realized what Arvin was trying to say.
The armies that were in the south and north didn't answer any calls for a parley with fox people because they didn't want to. They wanted fox people to believe that they were here to kill them. That way all the city would become busy in making preparations. While the city is being prepared for the upcoming war, they would sneak into the city. And after sneaking in, they could easily hunt their target. The Summerfell family.
So that would mean that both the armies would start to attack simultaneously at night. This would be a perfect strategy…
…
When no one was looking, Arvin sneaked out of his battalion and started heading towards the summer fell house. If he was right then people from the armies would sneak into the house. And when they do, Arvin would be there for them to stop them.
Arvin wanted to get as much information that he can about the stone. For that, he was planning to kill the team that would come to the Summerfell mansion. Then he was thinking he would disguise himself and try to bargain with the representative of the Aurora clan for that stone. Or he would backstab him after getting all the information that he wants…
He was not sure about which route he would choose. But he would make sure that he would make the best of it.

For as long as anyone can remember, humans have been preyed upon by Harbingers, living nightmares which devour dreams and passions and souls, and defended by Keepers. These children alone hold the gift of magic, the wild and wondrous ability to impose emotions over reality and empower their frail bodies with the splendor of their souls. Under their protection, humanity was able to survive and thrive. While modern Keepers have come to enjoy a social position somewhere between celebrities and religious idols, very few accept the mantle simply to be a hero. I Have Even Read the Rulebook!
As all stories begin, Prof died. Yes, truck-kun had something to do with that, but also a bird, a cat and some rebar. When he was presented with with the opportunity in the Afterlife Administration Bureau to be transmigrated into a game-like fantasy world, he did something, no one ever did: he read the Rulebook. Follow Prof on his road to be rich without working, touring a whole new world without a care and witness his realisation, that despite having read the Rulebook the folks living with the System for untold millennia know more about the rules. Important notes: 1, I'm not a native speaker, so be prepared for occassional typos, iffy grammar and maybe awkward sentences. The spell check was running, when I wrote the chapters, but it works in strange ways... If you point out mistakes, I will try to correct them 2, Scheduling will be two chapters a week, posted Saturdays before noon (CET). Depending on how much new chapters I can write consistently there will be probably more but as long as I have leftover chapters, the two per week will be posted no matter what. Chapters will be around 1500-2500 words as MS Word counts it. 3, I did not and will not post this novel on another site, if you find it somewhere else, please inform me 4, The Main Character's progression is slow, there will be no Levels, Skills, Abilities, Feats, Perks and Cheat Powers raining down on him 5, I've put Comedy as a genre because of my writing style not because the novel is a comedy per se. On the other hand, Traumatising Content is there because there is a lot of speciesism - those Elves are not nice people. 6, I put a lot of pop-cultural references into the chapters, try to find them! Enjoy!
