Choice 2. Search the Golden Goose first?
Blood dripping red on the steel of his newly acquired longsword, Gregor charged towards the Golden Goose, sword hilt cracking skulls, and blade a flash of lightning as he danced through streets filled with goblins, orcs, and guards. The fire that began to rain down from above, burning scores of enemies that screeched in pain, while a bluff faced dwarf, took charge of the defenders, and began to fight their way back through the street.
Gregor whose sole focus remained on the three-story building, carved a bloody path forward, swerving aside spearheads, gnashing jagged teeth, and wild yellow eyes that tried to claw him open. Each time, Gregor pivoted on the balls of his feet, longsword slicing them apart, when he finally reached the open doorway, and burst inside.
The blood-splattered common room, a shambles of tumbled over chairs, tankards, and tables where he found Myrissa backed up into a corner, facing off against five mangy goblins, painted in white warpaint. The huddled faces behind her skirt, revealing Lytan and Sara together, the boy shakily holding his shortsword, while the round innkeeper flashed a kitchen knife.
-2 HP.
+2 Morale.
(Kill the bastards!)
Blood a cauldron of bubbling white-hot rage, Gregor leapt forward across the room, foot kicking the table into them from behind, and gutted two in the blink of an eye, the three that remained whirling about with wild cries of fury.
+1 Morale.
(Kick more furniture into them.)
Spears leaping for his throat, he spun aside, and threw a chair at them to knock them over, before his longsword followed to finish them off. The last to die, a well-built goblin with wrinkles around his yellow eyes that tried to avoid his fallen kin, when Gregor drove his sword right through him. The desperate creature half grabbing Gregor as he fell, and died in his arms, before he slipped to the ground, and Gregor noticed the horrified gazes of Myrissa and the children.
+1 Morale.
(Order them upstairs.)
Broken out of his trance, he snapped, "get upstairs," while he flew back towards the doorway to take up a defensive position, when he realized that the fight was over. The remaining goblins he saw in the streets, scattered, and retreating, before lines of armored soldiers who swept forward bit by bit, all the while supported by fireballs that raged down to kill any that dared to stay and fight.
Breathless as he leaned on the doorframe, Gregor watched Khorasan appear from the house across from him, and couldn't help but smile as he saw the mage brushing his spotted white robes, and scowling darkly to himself.
Picking his way through the dead goblins, the mage noticed Gregor in the doorway, and made his way over to him.
"I see you have managed to get yourself out alive, does that mean you have made a decision?"
Head nodded in reply, Gregor said, "I have."
"Well?! Do you mean to give me an answer?"
Releasing a heavy sigh, he replied, "I offer you my sword, till they are safe."
Brown eyes lifted upward in surprise, Khorasan rubbed the blood from his hands. "You know that could be a while yet?"
"I know." And for what seemed like an eternity, Gregor waited.

The pride Gregor felt at seeing the boy trying to hold his own, twisted into an uncontrollable white-hot rage as he leapt forward with sword in hand, foot kicking the table into them from behind, and gutted two in the blink of an eye. The three that remained whirled round to face him as he threw himself between them, taking a spear thrust to the thigh.

Bleached Nightmare
500 years into the future, technological progress has stagnated. Wracked by a series of problems like climate change, lack of resources and the innate human lust for war, the geopolitical landscape of planet Earth is radically different, and quality of life is far from what it was in the past. While technical development and research into realistically feasible space travel has made leaps and bounds, this has come at the cost of a world that is reeling from centuries of technical stagnation in other aspects of life. The establishment of a mining colony on Mars has led to the discovery of a new, rare material called sarinium; though it is extremely tensile and durable, it has a very low melting point. The discovery of this metal leads to large mechanical infantry- dubbed 'Spirit Striders', they are six to ten meters tall and as famed for the pride they provide a nation as they are a lethally mobile heavy weapons platform. The story follows the character of Marilin, who must both figure the enigma that is her past, and what this means for her allegiances in the future. Despite her genetically physical frailty, she seeks to gain power through a vessel that will channel her wish to change the world- the Spirit Strider. --- I hope you all enjoy my work. This is a story that I began writing over four years ago in my beginning years of high school, and have cast aside unfinished in the past two years. Though it is not up to my current standards, I hope you all may find some enjoyment in it. Happy reading.
