After the 20k+ Warsky Alliance players flooded out of the city, I switched Dark Pupils on and off repeatedly to make sure that there wasn’t an assassin still lurking inside the city. Despite not finding anyone, I knew that there was a high chance Farewell Song, Warsky Alliance’s greatest assassin, was still around. Farewell Song would never give up without a fight especially after Warsky was killed. Like a hungry wolf, he would wait until he found the opportunity to deal a fatal blow to the enemy.

While standing on the walls and gazing at the surrounding plains, I suddenly frowned and asked, "Who are those people?"

Li Chengfeng landed his Blue Crystal Dragon on the wall before sitting down on an embrasure. "They’re probably Warsky Alliance’s allied guilds. There’s only 500k of them or so, so pay them no heed."

I checked the time. There were only 17 minutes left before the contest for the Cities of Heaven was over. On the surface, it looked like everything was calm. In reality, it was anything but that.

Our players had fought a considerable number of battles up until this point, and now there were only 70k some of us left within the city. Purple Lily and Peach Garden’s forces in particular were so few that they weren’t even worth mentioning. I highly doubted that our players would be able to hold the city perfectly if they suddenly charged us.

"Yes, Boss Broken Halberd?" Gui Guzi looked up and asked.

I thought for a moment before saying, "Split up our forces and station ten thousand men on each gate. It’s just in case something happens during the last 15 minutes of this contest."

A flock of huge, black birds were flying toward us. My Dark Pupils quickly identified them as the Black Crow Legion. The Black Crow was a Level 165 low-rank mount with stats so terrible you could go crazy just watching their stat screen. However, they were flying mounts, and that was enough of an advantage to make up for all of its flaws. Right now, I counted at least 10000 Black Crow Riders in the sky. This was Warsky’s secret weapon; his last ditch effort to steal the City Lord Token!

I unsheathed my weapon and declared, "Chengfeng, Little Gui, fly with me to destroy these Black Crow Riders! Lil Beiming, Lian Xin, take the archers and mages and guard Luo River God of the Capital at all costs! It’ll be over if Warsky Alliance retakes the City Lord Token!"

Warsky Alliance had occupied the city before, so all they needed to do was retake the City Lord Token to retake Gold City. We couldn’t let that happen no matter what!

I canceled Fusion Armor, and the Ancient Divine Dragon let out a mighty roar. Then, Li Chengfeng, Gui Guzi and I flew straight toward the Black Crow Legion in a triangle formation.

The Ancient Divine Dragon was insanely fast, so I was the first to reach the enemy. I unleashed Burning Blade Slash + Myriad Swords Obliteration + Summon the Storm combo[1] that annihilated hundreds of Black Crow Riders instantly. Not far away from me, Gui Guzi and Li Chengfeng were pulling their weight as well. Stat-wise, the Black Crow Riders were utterly inferior to us. They would only die if they tried to fight against us.

The bad news was that they didn’t have to. A Black Crow Rider shouted, "Scatter! Our job isn’t to fight them!"

The Black Crow Legion instantly scattered in every direction before continuing their way toward Gold City. It was impossible to chase and hunt them all down, so all we could do was whittle them down little by little.

The Black Crow Legion was extremely swift. They reached the city in no time and canceled their mounts right on top of Luo River God of the Capital, the power of Ultimate Strength Break brimming in their weapons. It was clear what they were planning to do. Not even the super mage could survive multiple Ultimate Strength Breaks hitting her at once.

"Shoot them down!"

Beiming Xue and the archers raised their bows and unleashed their skills, killing a large majority of the Black Crow Riders before they even hit the ground. However, the number of attackers dropping down on them kept increasing, and it eventually reached the point where not even Beiming Xue and Lian Xin were able to kill all of them.

Luo River God of the Capital stomped her foot and summoned her Magic Shield. Then, she cast a number of Ice Blasts that immediately relieved some of the defenders’ burden. Warsky Alliance wouldn’t be killing the super mage without a struggle.

Swhoosh swhoosh!

Unfortunately, they were ultimately able to break through the web of fire. At least a hundred cavalrymen were able to land the ground and execute their Ultimate Strength Breaks, killing hundreds of Dragonlight Cavalrymen and mages at the same time. Even Luo River God of the Capital’s Magic Shield looked a bit distorted after the attack.

"Die!"

A cyclone of flames instantly turned a group of riders into dust. The super mage’s Magic Attack was insanely high.

The Black Crow Cavalry kept dropping until the defense set up by Beiming Xue and Lian Xin was finally ripped apart. The enemies only used one skill after they landed—Ultimate Strength Break—but it was the perfect counter to our defense force.

Luo River God of the Capital parried three Barrier Breaks in a row before sliding to the back and burning another seven or eight fighters to ashes. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. A fighter managed to approach her from behind and stab her with his Barrier Break!

HP dropping below 30%, Luo River God of the Capital suppressed a groan of pain and stomped her foot again. The ground and the fighter became encased in ice, and she killed the fighter with a single Fireball.

Enemies were all around her. Bloodbreak Eviscerate shredded her Magic Shield into pieces, and Farewell Song appeared to steal away her last sliver of HP.

All wasn’t lost, however. A small, smooth hand extended from the darkness and caught the City Lord Token. It was none other than Luo River God of the Capital’s most trusted aide, Moonkiss. She launched herself away from Farewell Song with a kick to the dagger before vanishing in a puff of fluorescent powder[2].

Farewell Song gritted his teeth and activated Dance of Death. Together with Haste, he was somehow able to dodge both Beiming Xue’s Well of the Abyss and Lian Xin’s Dimensional Storm before entering stealth as well.

Beiming Xue blinked in astonishment. "OMG, I can’t see those two even though I’ve been turning my Clear As Flame on and off repeatedly."

Lian Xin said, "Both their levels and stats are too high. It increases the stealth effectiveness by a lot."

"Yeah."

Chiang chiang chiang…

In the darkness, the two super assassins abruptly broke out of stealth and clashed blades with each other three times. Neither Moonkiss nor Farewell Song dared to stay exposed for too long, so they both reentered stealth with fluorescent powder. Beiming Xue and Lian Xin cast their AoE skills in the surrounding area, but they still couldn’t land a hit on the super assassin.

It was at this moment I dropped down from the sky and activated Fusion Armor. I ran along the inner wall for a bit before throwing Myriad Swords Obliteration + Summon the Storm combo behind and around me. After running another hundred meters to the front, I slapped my palm against the ground and cast Rise of the Guardian Dragon.

Unfortunately, neither Moonkiss nor Farewell Song appeared in my vision. Switching my Dark Pupils on and off failed to reveal them either. This is bad!

The two assassins clashed blades again, but this time Farewell Song managed to leave a cut on Moonkiss’s leg before they both vanished once more.

I ran up to her, pulled her right out of her stealth, and stomped the ground using War Crush. Right after that, I cast Cold of the Nine Provinces. Unfortunately, the AoE skills still failed to hit Farewell Song and reveal his location. Left with no choice, I cast the Xuanyuan Art!

Swhoosh!

This time, it worked. About 120 yards away from me, Farewell Song appeared out of thin air and lost about 50% of his HP. However, he was able to reenter stealth almost the second he was exposed.

All my AoE skills were in cooldown right now. Feeling a freezing hand tightening around my heart, I said to Moonkiss, "Helix!"

"Mn!"

The two of us charged forward for a bit before crossing our footsteps to form the beginning shape of the double helix maneuver. Both my Chill of the Nine Provinces and Moonkiss’s daggers sliced across the air in an attempt to hit Farewell Song.

Chiang!

We succeeded, but he was standing behind me and in front of Moonkiss. It was the helix maneuver’s weakness, and only those who knew the tactic well could exploit it. It’s over!

My heart sank as Farewell Song’s dagger sank into Moonkiss’s chest. Moonkiss managed to bend backward and send Farewell Song flying with a kick to the chin, but...

Moonkiss died first and dropped the City Lord Token. Farewell Song changed his equipment set to a damage-mitigating one and miraculously survived Moonkiss’s Ancient Divine Skill!
